  1. Great report Simon and some great looking Walleye! I will be going for my first fishing excursion of the year next week and you have me salivating!
  2. I quit before the patch was invented. The only way I could do it was cold turkey. I ate sunflower seeds non stop for months and when my mouth got sore I would chew gum. Sunflower seeds are highly recommended but may drive your wife crazy
  3. I have Navionics on my HTC and also on iphone and it works and is accurate. I don't really get cell phone coverage for most of the area I fish however so don't use it much.
  4. My power trim wasn't working when I was preparing to launch my boat for the first time this season on the long weekend. The hydraulic cylinder had a long scratch on it which tuned out to be long tear - and fluid had leaked out. Has anyone else ever had a ruptured cylinder? I am wondering what caused it....
  5. It wont be long and Jack will be sitting beside you with his hand on the tiller helping to drive the boat. Glad you found your camera - priceless memories!
  6. Very Nice Indeed - Congrats!
  7. I have the Navionics app for my iphone and also for my HTC Android phone. You don't need an iphone - you can go with an Android phone instead and the app costs the same and works the same.
  8. Nice video Simon! I like your closeups of the fishfinder I use the lipless rattle baits a lot and they have become one of my favourites. I catch lots of Walleye with it when they are shallow in spring and fall - pike and bass too. It is nicely balanced for ice fishing but unfortunately time doesn't permit me to use it often enough in winter...
  9. Great pictures! Looks like you had a great time these last few weeks
  10. Looks like you had some great fishing and terrific company! As usual I enjoyed your report and videos
  11. I noticed that the biggest smile was with the biggest Walleye Looks like you had a great year. Fishing is like a fine wine - it gets better with age so keep on fishin' !
  12. Yes, it is an old Mitchell 301 from the '80's and the rod is equally as old. I hate throwing away fishing stuff... Update on the battery - I just recorded 18 minutes and it was still going. I think the issue is not the battery perhaps but how I was charging it. The battery is charged through the USB port on a computer. Previously I was using a laptop to do this which may put out less power than a desktop unit. Today I charged using a desktop and the battery has more power. There is no indicator to tell when charging is complete or how much charge is left in the battery. The instructions just say to charge it for a couple of hours.
  13. Oh, man! How did you get out of bed in the morning to go to work? Forced to fish every day - what a bummer. You probably had to eat fish all the time too, eh?
  14. I don't think it was the cold weather as it was coming out of a warm cabin. I am going to see if I can condition the battery to last longer and will report back.
  15. Very nice! Pike are always fun to catch - and tasty too!
  16. Yeah, I saw that the other day and am going to try it with an old camera. The advantage with the micro cam though is that with the small size you can also have your regular camera filming and the camera on your head is almost unnoticeable when you are in the shot. No zoom but one is not really needed.
  17. So was I! Sometimes nature just doesn't cooperate. That is the problem with the short battery life. It takes two hours to charge and so far is just lasting 8 to ten minutes. I have not used it much yet though...
  18. Jeez, I hope not There are stepping stones at the beginning - so that is what the big round "tracks" are. The tracks at the end are mine. The ramp is steeper than it looks so walking in a straight line when it is slippery is not easy. Besides, I just woke up at the crack of noon - so I was half asleep
  19. I bought a Micro Camera online from http://www.themicrocamera.com/ and tested it on the weekend with plans of using it next season. The camera takes very good video for its size. The downside is the built in rechargeable battery seems to have a life of about 8 minutes. I am hoping that will improve with multiple charges... <center><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsdjwEeZGwA?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsdjwEeZGwA?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsdjwEeZGwA?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></center>
  20. Nice afternoon of fishing Simon! Funny how we hope the tug on the line is a small walleye (a keeper) rather than a big one, eh? Watching your video and seeing the forecast for the next week is tough since I have already put the boat away for the winter Looks like you have a terrific helper
  21. Great job on the spinners and cranks! I have tried making spinners but need to go to remedial wire-bending school...
  22. Nice! Looks like you had a great time. Good luck on the hunt!
  23. Great video - nice job!
  24. That picture sure does look like a shad. I found another discussion online where they are targeting shad using small spoons so it looks like they will hit lures. http://www.striperso...ad.php?t=713295
  25. What a beauty!
