Thanks Johnny b, I travel to US twice a year and they have always amazing deals on auto stuff. At the buffalo border, there are couple of liquidator that always have deals on many items. I always believe that same product is marketed differently and the factory charge more for different application of the same product. Example, My mercury sable transmission fluid is the same as the power steering fluid, but the power steering fluid cost 2 .5 times more money. Some gear oil label state, tracker gear oil , but also good for marine application, but did not state for which type of boat, for power boat or for fishing boat. Some are slightly thicker than others, but not much.

Water temp still too cold everywhere, wait for 3 more plus weeks of warm weather, by normal summer temp, you will complain that there are too many weeds and unfishable.

There are different types of gear oil out in the market, some are on sale at times. Does it matter if one use farm equipment gear oil for our lower unit? Mine uses Type C, Any mechanic out there?

I am looking for a GPS that can be use for auto(talking kind) and one that I can upload a lake map. Or I should buy both separately Any suggestion? Are lake map quite expensive, can the software be shared from one GPS to another?

CA Bass season is open on the last week of June, it was bumped up earlier last year, and back to normal schedule. For US Niagara river fishing- Bass is open all year round for catch and release, except after first week of May, anglers can take one fish home. Fishing the CA side is not as productive as well this time of the year where the water temp is colder than average, Fihsing US side is better and shallower in many areas. Water gets warmer faster in the US side, that is the reason the fish are getting caught at the US side since April. For the CA side, the trout are still being sought after due to abnormal cooler water temp. The Niagara river is not divided equally to separate US and CA border as well, and I called DEC NY and it was quite tricky in some areas. However, one cannot just be ignorant and make excuses to the Niagara river police if being ask why one is fishing at the US or CA side. For serious angler, an extra $40 US license is no big deal. Based on the abnormal cooler water temp this year. Many bass will still be spawning after June Bass opening day ,and it will be a slaugther house event. I hope anglers will let the largemouth bass go especially if they are being caught at shallower 5 ft of water.

Use Goop or shoe goo sold at canadian tire, it is so strong and somewhat flexible, I used it on my inflatable boat. I also applied it on my waders and it works and glued everything well.

Good job Workwear, You fought them real well. Let us see if you can hit double digit the next time around. Tell your athletic wife that you are into some workout when you go fishing. Show her how tight your mucle get after a fishing outing next time. I am starting to give this carp fishing its due respect. I will not demise the quality of fight this species can provide. Wow, those catfich are big. We used to eat other smaller similar catfish species farm fed nothing over a lb, and they taste good. However, seeing the way they were presented from your picture . I will only eat them if there is a war and a food shortage. Maybe those leaves are Basil leaves and some black pepper used to marinade them with! Can't tell from the picture.

I got into Carp fishing lately and I am nailing double digit figure each time , some in the 20+ range and they fight very close to the way Salmon fight, but just a little bit one directional. Tha lake you and I went last year has 6+ lb smallmouth, a fishing guide came out of it last fall and he showed us 6 bass nothing under 3 lb, two were 5 and 6+lb, his client's wanted them, so he went and caught them, he said he landed close to 25, and it was very cold miserable day for us. Using Hair rig is a must, I was not able to set the hook the fish fast enough with the corn obstructing the hook, without using a hair rig. Use a decent braided line for your hair rig, using 20-30 lb mono might be too stiff Chumming , I believe is also needed. Corn I bought was President choice brand, quite sweet. Edible for us while we are waiting for the fish to stike. I just landed quite a few carp on monday, the corn out fish boilie that I made, and I end up using the boilie to chum the site instead. Use shrimp to capture catfish in the area, it outfish worms. By Luck, I found similar to the Baiting needle or knit fixer in fabric store, it has a closing latch and very much needed on the hair rig, it is available at Fabricland or other fabric store, the baiting needle cost for $1.50. Other fishing site cost up to $12. I added a single 1/4 oz split shot place 2 ft from the corn shot just enough weight to let it sink. All depending on the current. For the stopper, I just use semi-rigid twig found in the area, using toothpick might be too hard, might be detectable by the fish. The thug depends on the fish, some strong and some just mediocre, you will know it, they are not pan fish, Do not over set it, a slight pull is all you need to ensure hook set, and tightlines while fighting the fish, Carp has soft mouth, and you cannot force the fish to turn or it will break off their mouth. The other buddy lost 5 catch from getting too excited fighting the fish. good luck

First timed aimed for Carp and got hooked. Landed 6 and lost 4-5 more, most over 5+ lb. I have yet to catch my trout this year. In the mean time, I have decided to aimed for carp, and I am hooked. I landed 6 out of 10 fish on monday. The largest being 10lb+. We were using corn the whole time. I can get used to this if it was not difficult in the past. You are making us drool! Give us your secret on how you found or tamed your women into this fishing sport. Before I married my wife, she was fishing with me all the time, and caught lots of bass(bass was abundant years ago without even knowing how to catch them), and the last time she grabbed a rod was 15 years ago. Can't complain though, for my wife is supportive of me going fishing with my buddies. How's your school exam? When are we going to hook up? Does the water gets dirty easily due to raw meat being fed to the fish? Do they eat anything else such as water plant or fish food, or worm? Will they attack any kind of larger fish if they were place inside the tank? 10lb carp or an 8 lb trout?

Compression test the engine is a must, One can tell if the engine is fine, by runing at slow speed , if it is smooth, chances are the engine is fine. Test the charing system, if it is charging as well, if it has a bad charge and running on new battery, it will run for a while and then dies afterwards. Check for the condition of the floor, it cost money to fix the floor if it need some fixing. Older engine also eats gas, therefore think twice of buying older engine. Unless the boat price is a steel or bargain, you will save now , and will pay for it in the long run. Make sure the boat doee not have any water leaks as well. Other thing to take into consideration are the accessories such as trolling motor, fish finder, downriggers, paddle,etc.. , they all add up at the end, if they come with it as well would be a bonus. Ask why the person is selling it. It is always a buyers market, so be ready to walk away from it, if you are not sure. Nothing is worse than owning a bad boat, and being stranded on Lake Ontario or Simcoe on a weekday and no one on site. A good size fishing boat is from 15-16.5ft , enough to park it and the trailer inside a normal car garage.

I have been there 4 times in the last 3 years, and yet to catch a carp , there are lots of small cat fish. A friend said they used to nail the carp , but I tried and have given up on that spot.

I caught salmon using it on shore fishing during fall. The lure does have a lot of lift as capt Bruce mentioned and I do a slooooooow retreive using this lure. I bought a bunch for a buck each on a close out sale at Big lot Buffalo, I think they were defective batch for the lures were not sharp enough and I need to sharpen it.

In conclusion, on odd cases some salmon do hang around close to the river mouth duirng spring time but will not enter into the river system, they are seen castable distance from shoreline, the reason of being there was not preparing to spawn but to eat smaller fish that might be spawning outside the river. I met an angler and he told me that Salmon comes into some river system or at least close to shore casting distance during spring time. I than ask another experience salmon angler about it as well and so far it was our first time hearing this. The fellow seemed to be serious and stated he has 20 years experience fishing the area, and caught Salmon, aside from trout. Can someone elaborate on this ? True or a Myth?
