  1. Thank you for asking. I have had it for a week and it sat for 3 days in between with no faults. Crappy wet day today and again no errors. So It may be Fixed finally. My wife is pushing me to buy another vehicle but we always buy used and the prices are crazy. And then I heard that odometer readings are basically a joke now due to easy tampering and cheap mods available… an odometer “correction” tool can be bought on ebay for under $200.
  2. Right on schedual the van drove flawless with no error codes and no engine light on Tuesday with the nice weather. Next day, rain and fog, error codes 5 minutes into drive. Thank you for the replies guys, will print suggestions and leave them with mechanic Monday.
  3. Thank you for the replies. I did check Felix and Homestead Automotive and as posted they seem to be very reputable for sure, but booked up at least a week. The vehicle is being sent in on Monday to my mechanic for a full wiring check etc. All suggestions have been forwarded to my mechanic. DanD, beware, you may have an ugly 2012 Dodge Caravan show up on your doorstep in the near future…
  4. I have an awesome mechanic that has been PERFECT for many years and saved me tons of $$$ avoiding the dealerships, but… He may be stumped with a problem on my Dodge Caravan 2012 (210k). Its past its prime but used car prices are making me hold it longer. I have a p2127, p2138 code involving the accelerator pedal to throttle etc. Im well aware of what the errors are but fixing it is another story. The problem comes and goes and puts the vehicle in limp mode. I have had it at the shop 3 times so far, clean connections (2 week fix), replace throttle body sensor? (3 week fix), replace accelerator pedal assembly (1 week fix). He said all thats left if the wiring. Im going to drop off at mechanics again this week but if the fault returns I have to find a solution, damn gotta pull the boat! And have it trustworthy to pull boat up north..
  5. Bill, thank you for the reply. Will check for sure when I get there, thanks.
  6. Doing a simple nest thermostat upgrade for a friend and he assumed there was no common wire. He ordered the Nest power adapter and I went over to install. Didnt have much time but after looking at his current setup it looked like it had the blue c wire but it was connected the aux of the original thermostat. I installed the nest and used the blue as the common. I have included images. I had to run quickly but doing a quick setup everything looked good but I think I got a c wire missing message. Anyways everything running but will go back (with more time) to install the nest power adapter if in fact the blue wire isnt common. Any help appreciated.
  7. Just to clarify, the trailer is working 100%. The wire harness tapped into the vans electrical is the problem as it isnt providing proper voltage to the trailer. The module is a basic relay setup avoiding any problems with trail light setup’s interfering with the cars electrical. I know I should purchase a new wire connection module but my empty wallet is leaning towards just splicing into the old 2012 Caravan tail lights and making for a quick job 30 minute job.
  8. Trailer lights are acting up and everything points to the trailer harness (uhaul install) being the culprit. Trailer wiring perfect but all I get is brake lights on 100%. No running lights or signals. Checked power to module fuse - good. Checked ground - good. My crappy Dodge Caravan 2012 lights work perfect and checked fuses. The 3ft cable from module is not cut, checked at module and its not supplying signal lights etc. While not an electrician I still consider myself pretty adept at electrical circuits and a 4 wire loom for a trailer isn’t rocket science. I’m ready to just replace the module/harness and see CURT brands sold everywhere. Anyone have suggestions or something Im missing? As mentioned, the trailer is not in the equation, its not connected. The 4 wire connector has led indicators and they also show no signals.
  9. Sorry to refresh the thread again but remote again was inop on latest Lake Ontario launch. So when home I checked everything and replaced battery and went ahead and ordered a 5 pak from Amazon. My “1st world problem” is driving me crazy so I watched 5 youtube solutions. I have cleaned the contacts and bent them a little for better contact but the remote appears like brand new. One user said to insert battery upside down for 20 seconds. They actually said it was a solution from minn kota. It seems totally unlogical but IT WORKED. Still don’t believe it did anything but… it is now working.
  10. Finished today, did a 1/2 fill to hopefully get any extra shaving and then drained again. Refilled full and now ready to go! A couple Lake Ontario runs and then Nipissing in 3 weeks! Need boat in top shape if Cache Bay is fishable.
  11. A friend offered us a free weekend in October so we are planning a “cool” weekend. I was told it was a no-motor zone so not sure on the fishing chances. I can bring up a canoe and kayak if worthwhile. Fished a ton this year and hitting Nipissing in a few weeks so if Cameron Lake is a no fishing weekend - its ok. Any info appreciated, Navionics unmapped.
  12. My trusty mechanic will do the job next week no problem. He is very reasonable $$$ and said it would be a quick job. By the time I bought the repair kit etc. this figured to be the smartest play.
  13. Will definitely watch for filings and probably a double flush! Have to track down exact thread size etc. to figure out what kit to order.
  14. Drain hole. I will look into the helicoil info, thx.
  15. Just went to finish a oil change on my 2003 Mercury 25hp and as I went to snug up the oil drain plug it stripped! Didn’t crank on it or anything, just wanted hand tight till I could go grab my torque wrench for exact specs. The last thing I want is the boat in the shop for the winter under repair or the hefty bill with it. It was a SIMPLE oil change! Done it many times! Got a Nipissing trip in a few weeks. Ft%#$k. Has Anyone here solved this in past? Quick research - longer bolt, extra washer, insert threads, rubber bolt, gunk. Anyhelp greatly appreciated,
  16. Heading up to Lavigne 2nd week of September and its been over 10yrs since visiting. Cache Bay was SUPER thick but awesome and wondering how its changed over the years. We were barely able to get a boat in last time and had to deweed the prop every 5 minutes. We will be hitting the usual spots on nipissing (and not destroy a prop again) but Cache Bay was were we learned how fish in weeds BIG TIME!
  17. I agree on the sizes as this is the first year bringing in the “babies”. South Bay has been a bust so far so West Bay tomorrow and then the provincial park area. On another note, didn’t take a picture but one of the pike had the “black dot parasites”. Looked like a healthy young 16” pike and the black dots looked natural. Looked it up and its a common parasite problem that doesn’t seem to affect the fish. I was just about to toss back in when the dots caught my eye. They look so natural and kinda blend into the pattern.
  18. Up on Balsam I came across a location that I have been crushing the pike. The location features 6-9 fow with heavy weeds and Looks ideal for pike. So after 3 days I have totalled over 20 pike (around 8 hrs total) in the hot location BUT they are ALL under 18”. I have yet to catch anything worth filleting. My question is…. Have I just been extremely unlucky or is this a typical situation that young separate from older (bigger) pike? Or is it simply the fact that the younger are easier to catch? Thx ahead..
  19. Looks like a easy enough piece to make but might be better served to just replace with full sets. Thx guys.
  20. Got this boat last year used and it has 2 fasteners secured that I assume are for bumpers. Can’t seem to find the matching connectors online (getting old). If anyone uses them and can point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it. Thx.
  21. I’m getting more comfortable on Lake Ontario and have been seeing success with Salmon/trout trolling but its time for Balsam for a few weeks. I guess I’m in the 1% of guys really targeting Pike. If a wally.bass or Musky come along thats great too but I enjoy Pike. South Bay and Ant Island is my usual go to but have started patrolling the shores to Coboconk. Any success stories recently on Balsam would be appreciated.
  22. Picked up from Sail today, sales rep tried but without receipt SOL, I get it… Trying Rapala Canada but doesn't look good so far.
  23. I have a cheap Rapala Trolling reel that has a broken spool. Bought it for under a $100 a few months back at Sail the receipt is long gone so Sail tried but basically SOL. Only used 3 times and when It seemed “locked up” yesterday and unusable so I took to Sail for a look. They were great, took it apart to see the plastic spool had cracked and the line just wedged in. It worked great last week so this is a surprise. I think it has landed 1 12lbs salmon but nothing huge. Sorry to make a big story out of a cheap reel but just wondering if anyone has tried warranty stuff with Rapala Canada and if its worth it for this “economical” reel. I will probably fire off a email and maybe check if I can find a replacement spool. Thx ahead.
  24. I had 2 sets of windows sills at the back of the house that needed replacing after the majority of bricks cracked. Either the house shifted or there was never enough slope for drainage. Anyways, I had left over matching bricks from converting my 2 door garage to a single...( to get my boat in of course ). Well I replaced all the broken bricks and tired to keep as clean as possible but there is a "glaze" of mortar from my messy job covering most of the bricks. I tried washing with a hose and soft brushing it off after the bricks dried but there is still a glaze. Do I have to just keep repeating till its gone or do I have to use acid? Soap? Any help appreciated..Thx ahead.
