Terry, didn’t think about that. But, I don’t believe there is wiring but definitely foam. -
Anyone tried aluminum hull repair with aluminum rods ?
Raycaster replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
Glen I 100% hear you… I saw another youtube about a legend boat that was sold with a poorly fitted trailer producing stress cracks. These cracks could be combinations stress or rock damage. They are very thin “cuts” that could be both. The bottom line is the boat is long past its “lifetime warranty” Legend offers and overall value is under 10k. Its just what repairs make sense $$$ and what don’t. I can keep marine epoxing the crap out of it ever year until I win the lottery and replace… But farting around on a weekend and trying to weld up the cuts may be do able. -
I have a 16’ Legend that has a few battle scars on the hull. They are very thing cuts around 3” in length. Probably rock cuts from being beached etc. This is not a rivet problem. Every year I epoxy the crap out of them and besides looking ugly on the trailer they hold fine. I’m always checking the bilge for water and usual get some water. Anyways, my boat is pretty low budget (<$10k) so I put up with the warts but always wondered if if those youtube videos of guys doing hull repair with propane and aluminum rods works. Unfortunately, the whole boat would need tilting for gravity to work and the engine would probably need to be removed 1st. If anyone has tried this let me know. Its probably just something to put on my wish list as life gets in the way but Im thinking about it….

I have a 2003 Legend 164 xcite and wondering if anyone has tried removing the metal floor panels? Might have a problem with the livewell and it would be alot easier to remove a few floor panels. They seem to be screwed in but caulked to transom, not sure. If anyone has taken this on, tips would be appreciated. Looks like the most important tool needed will be a bottle of Baileys for my coffee…

How’s Balsam this year? Heading up next week.
Raycaster replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
Well just a quick summary. Pretty slow week. A few average pike and bass but last day pulled a 4lbs. bass off Grand Island. Hitting Canal in a month to chase pike again. Lake Ontario time right now so everything is good… -
Moving this month downsizing which also means a smaller driveway.I have a small 16’ Aluminum with trailer that I need to “park” somewhere. I’m really all over the place so a slip in one marina is a waste of money basically. I have contacted a few storage places just waiting for replies. Jordon Harbour seemed to have a lower parking lot off to the side with several boats on trailers but replied “they have no slips available”… Indicated in email that I don’t require a slip but… whatever. Don’t need a enclosed area or anything fancy as it basically just gets covered in the winter… Any suggestions welcome, thank you.

Just wondering how the lake is doing as Im heading up for a week July 1st. Usually have a ton of luck in South Bay but last few years I been there in August and the fish seemed to move out by then. Im chasing the bass and pike and will hit the usual spots of Ant Island and the narrows to Coboconk. Any “Heads Up” appreciated.

Not a super day but something for the freezer is always good. Bag was perfect.

This looks way more manageable, again feels heavy duty so I will give it a try tomorrow! Not sure why first image upside down…
-
Returned, Amazon makes it pretty easy to return. Ordered this: 48” but hopefully manageable. Like the idea of a drain plug. If it comes early enough I will test out Thursday or Friday with any luck.
-
Lets not forget to mention the ease of replacing a blown tire on a tandem. Just keep a single tire ramp in your vehicle or boat.

I bought an axle set at Nando Trailers in Hamilton, and the owner was awesome. I was bugging about cheap replacement axles for my dual trailer (pontoon) and even though I could see his shop had WAY bigger projects going he still took the time helping me out.

Ok, opened the package and… its huge, actually too big!!! I think this is good for the Wicked Tuna guys! I should of checked measurements as something maybe 2/3 the size would be good. Maybe if I fold the last flap in…Not sure what I will do with this, probably return. Great quality doesnt feel cheap, just too friggin big.

Not a super expensive one but should do the job. on amazon.ca

Roll over image to zoom in BTG Gear Insulated Waterproof Fish Bag Cooler, 63"x27", for Fishing/Boats Brand: BTG GEAR 4.4 out of 5 stars 7 ratings $79.99$79.99
-
I usually do it in net/water. Boat would look like a murder scene if I did onboard.
-
So Terry, you would clip the gills while still in the water/net and then ice bag it? I have a livewell but its small and useless for salmon/trout.
-
I’m on Lake Ontario weekly now chasing Salmon/trout and have been bring a big cooler with me filled with ice to bring home the goods. Its fine but I only have a 16ft aluminum and it takes up space. I was babbling to my wife that a collapsible long cooler bag would be great and save space… well be careful what you wish for as guess what arrived for Father Day, yes the kids and her are awesome. Anyways, just wondering if anyone else uses them and pros/cons etc. Im hyper about keeping the fish fresh so hopefully a bag of ice with this will keep everything good a few hours. Also, would you guys bleed them before or gut them etc? I could filet them quick on the boat and bring xl freezer bags to put the slabs in… As mentioned Im always thinking about bacteria etc. I’m only ever bringing home 1 or 2 fish…

Anyone fish Cameron Lake near Fenlon Falls for Bass?
Raycaster replied to duke2555's topic in General Discussion
SlipperyVic don’t feel bad about Balsam, I have been fishing there yearly for many years and many hours and still go home empty many days. Every year seems different and I will stubbornly hit the “go to” spots 3 days straight for zero. And then I will lazely troll a walleye harness on the way back and hook in to a beautiful musky… It just seems to be that type of a lake. I do remember having a pretty successful day on Cameron right after the locks leaving Balsam with all those weed areas. I also see a charter guy posting weekly shots of big musky catches. -
Looking for Port Dalhousie bite updates
Raycaster replied to Sea Ray Lew's topic in General Discussion
I think I ran into the same problems and I kinda gave up and then 1 day I got the email success. Shame. Great site for specific North and South shore information for Salmon/trout etc. I 2x agree with Grimbsy Tackle too as they post weather info in the morning sometimes. I wish there was a good webcam view from 50 or Jordan because I hate driving down and seeing the forecasted waves wrong. Love looking at the webcam for Buckhorn … -

Don’t give up on spoonpullers, great info in the forums. Unfortunately, it can take a long time to get access as they seem under manned or slower compared to some awesome site we know …OFC. Think I waited 5 weeks for verification… Kinda bizarre but it did happen.. -
We have been looking at possible houses in the Kawarthas now that the kids are gone and time to downsize. There are several properties for sale in Alpine Village on Pigeon Lake. How does the community sharing work? What are the pros and cons and why are so many properties up all at once? We rent every year on Balsam but never see anything close to our budget… Any info appreciated.
-
Ok, if your wondering about weather/waves I found this great reply off another site that I follow. I only have a small 16’ so weather is VERY important to me. I would give credit to the original poster but dont have it. Here is a screen shot of the post.

Carpet Stairs to hardwood/LVF ideas?
Raycaster replied to Raycaster's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
Well…. Ended up selling the house. It was too tempting not to with the crazy offers. THEY can redo the stairs, re-shingle the roof, replace fence, replace driveway etc…
