My 40 year boat and trailer has no “papers” and wondering what hoops I would need to jump through to get them. The trailer is a home made job and boat was in “as is” condition but after some TLC became a great boat again. I registered it 6 yrs ago for a pleasure craft license after buying it “as is”. The previous owner had no papers. I was not concerned with no papers because I bought from a very very reputable friend and it’s value was nothing.($250) I don’t think mto cared about ownership papers when I registered and paid taxes on it, just don’t remember... If someone has gone through this recently please chime in, thx.

Rizzo, you read my mind. I don’t need waterski speed but would like to reach Coboconk in sunlight! -
Any Legend 16 owners here? Pulling trigger

It would definitely only be out in perfect weather. I’m in the Hamilton area so I would stick close to shore in the 50pt area Burlington bridge. I’m not saying I’m the smartest guy but common sense usually works ok with me. -

I’m a fair weather fisherman (and golfer). Love them both but rain and wind usually keep me home. Balsam is my home lake but would I be able to troll around Lake Ontario a bit on good days? -
I’m about to trade “up” to a Legend 16ft with 25hp 4 stroke. I don’t have a lot of details yet (year etc) but kicking the tires. It does not have pedestal seats which I will install but wondering if 3 are do able. I think I see a mount in front for one. Dont really want to argue boat values just hoping to get insight on what the 16’ Legend is capable of. Probably viewing this afternoon but hoping to do a little research before. Sorry no great details to give but hoping pics can pinpoint year and capabilities ( big lakes ? Or just small lakes etc. And speed from a 25hp with 2 adults) Don’t need speedboat but would be nice to be quick enough to venture further than 2km from cottage. thx ahead

I have had the Terrova 80 for a few years and has worked great but seeing the simple ProNav app functions and navionics integration makes me a little jealous. The ilink option at the time just integrated with Humminbird units so it wasn’t considered. Not even sure if the 2020 ilink for the new models has straight integration to the standalone navionics app. But my model is basically “dead” as its not upgradeable by Minn Kota and there is no ProNav package yet. I would have to sell it and downgrade to a ProNav compatible 12v model. Still can’t figure out the ProNavs high price and why they need the user to strip out ipilot circuit etc. And add another gps device. Simply piggyback a Bluetooth controller off the foot pedal connector and use your phone or iPads gps. Yes you would need a iPad with true gps but any iPads with cell intergration would work. Most phones gps would be fine too. Im probably missing some sensor feedback from the unit but just don’t see the cost of a $1000 per ProNav mod. Gps running 100% on a phone or iPad would eat the battery and would require a power supply if used constantly. I did send their tech support a question and got a quick response so their support seems solid.

I have the Terrova 80 before the Bluetooth option and it has has no upgrade. Didn’t really think I needed the link function at the time. I just looked back on the forum and discussed a ProNav possible device Jan 2017, darn I should get a cut of the profits! if the upgrade ProNav wasn’t so $$$ I would sell my Terrova for a lesser model that was ProNav compatible.

I have a Terrova 80 with ipilot non Bluetooth and am frustrated that there is no option to the BlueTooth option. At one time I was going to build simple Bluetooth controller to piggyback the foot pedal connector for relatively easy hookup. I’m just starting to grasp mapkit programming but I don’t see it being a problem. Well, never bothered and thought I’d just upgrade one day. Just saw the ProNav GPS unit now that connects to a ton of lesser trolling motors for Bluetooth connectivity and use with the navionics app. Basically you would just plot the points on the map and select speed and GO! Not sure if the newer Bluetooth trolling motors offer navionics or bluechart plotting but that would be awesome. My 24v Terrova isn’t supported and it seems to have a huge price tag but just wondering if anyone here has upgraded their ProDrives etc? I know some of the new minn kotas can follow contours etc.but simply plotting points on my iPad and hitting GO would be awesome... (ProNav $1000.... not sure if awesome enough)

Hirk have you had success getting waterlines off etc?

Thank you for the reply, tried 50/50 water/vinegar today and had zero result. Trying to track down star brite aluminum cleaner etc. In Hamilton area but will look into toon brite too. Thx. crazy prices on amazon.ca.

Trying to clean up toons and having trouble tracking down Star Brite Aluminum cleaner in Hamilton area, Its seems OOS or way overpriced. Is there a decent alternative? I’ve seen YouTube use vinegar 50/50 and mention of CLR but warnings too. If anyone’s has any tricks I’d love to hear them. Thx ahead.

I'm thinking "fudge" might be 99% correct (but do-able). Thanks guys for all the help.

Perfect, just have to match size, awesome, cant complain about price either. Wondering how much to replace steering cable if console doesnt match up? Even if its a couple hundred I'd still be in budget if I grabbed one of the above amazon "economical" consoles.

$300 US is ok but getting them up here as mentioned may be a problem. I could make that 2nd design in a few hours hours but to achieve the plastic clean molded finish is above me.

I have a small 16' pontoon great for fishing but the console really is looking junky. I rebuilt it a few years ago wrapping it in 3/16 white plastic to give it a clean look but didnt fool too many people. I can build any design with wood but the finish is the problem. Painting, vinyl or carpet just looks ... I would buy a console but the dimensions have to match for the steering cable length and angle. Didnt see any Canadian suppliers that had anything under $1000 either for just a basic square box. The real question is probably the cost of DIY fibreglass. All the youtube fibreglass videos are tempting but on my first look the materials add up quick too! Anyone here had success fibreglassing wood? Hitting boat graveyards looking for consoles is another option. Just looking for options in the $500 range for a simple "non-hack" console. Any ideas appreciated.

Did a guide on Nippising (Cache Bay) a few years back and it was awesome. Fished Pike for many years but quickly realized I knew ZERO! The Bay was solid with weeds and almost unfishable but within an hour we were all pretty good manuevering lines through the weeds and fish came steady. The guide showed us techniques with simple spinners and cranks avoiding foul ups. Think we finished with over 15 pike and now I usually fish close to the heaviest weeds I can find just ripping through with braid. The kids will spend awhile with snags galore but they will get it. Sorry dont remember guides name but any guide that works Cache Bay probably knews his stuff. Its so thick you spend half your time cleaning your prop. Its a life lesson I wish I got way earlier.

Got to lower boat trailer (smaller tires)?
Raycaster replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
I have never used the provincial park ramp, it would just take my 30hp too long to get to my usual spots! -

Got to lower boat trailer (smaller tires)?
Raycaster replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
100% on boat ramp choice for sure. 4 ramps on Balsam and Rosedale is the only problem. When I step out of the vehicle into water I should look for a different ramp! I get the posts here saying just drive in deeper but with front wheel drive and add the tongue weight on the rear (less grip in front) its tow truck time for sure on a wet ramp. Next year I will drop the bunks 3-4"s and move boat back 1'. When the tires need replacing I will look into going smaller if its worth it. Exchanging the axles may be vetoed by my wallet. Thanks for all suggestions, -

The top of the spring leaf is just under 4" to support bar. The u bolt extends 3" from bottom leaf. The axle will need more clearance than 3/4" right? -

Heres a pic -
My pontoon boats sits way too high for nice 12 degree paved launches so I need to lower it. My tandem trailer is DIY so I can lower the bunks 2" and move the bunks back 1' safely. Its a tandem trailer that is REALLY overkill for my tiny 16' barebones pontoon with 30hp so weight is a non-subject. The last adjustment could be going down from the 13" tires I currently use. Again weight isnt a problem but does anyone see a problem going smaller? The combination of these 3 adjustments should avoid me be featured weekly on youtube "boat launch fails" I built a 6' extention bar that does work but I just use it for launches and its a huge headache with 5 guys waiting for the ramp.
