Just a comment but alot of people keep bringing up the fact that the Etec is new technology ?? Been around for 4-5 yrs not really new .And how long have 4 strokes been around not much longer..... is the proof really in the puddding about 4 strokes ? People will always slam something that they don't know about.Mercury has been switching who makes there motor for years ..what does that say ? Has everybody forgot about the FORCE motor by mercury ??? Don't know too many mechanics that will even work on them for fear of them blowing up.Do your homework and you will find out that the Etec is by far the better motor and if you say differently you haven't done your homework.The people who slam the Etec are the same people who probably never have used one.And this whole thing about the Etec being a glorified Ficht engine is just plain ridiculous.Brp and Omc ARE 2 DIFFERENT COMPANIES !!!!! At least evinrude has learned from there mistakes and have fixed them can you really say the same for mercury ? All they do is keep switching who makes them (yamaha,tahatsu,suzuki) what does that say about mercury.Just my 2 cents

The etecs are definitely quiter than the the verado.Great motor Verado but not great on gas mileage and if you have a problem with the power head it has to be sent back to the factory .The great thing about the etec as well is the fact that it is a 2 stroke which gives you alot more torqur.There is 27 % more torque in the Etec than the comparable 4 stroke.Translated a 150 hp 4stroke actually only gives you 140 hp where as the 150 etec gives you 162 hp..... no brainer for me but some of the merc guys on this board get a little sensitive when i start talking about evinrude Less weight ,less parts,bigger engine components for better durability,gas consumption,no break in period (drive it like you stole it LOL) no scheduled maintenace on the power head for 300hrs .... could go on but I might upset the merc guys. Be hard pressed to find a used Lund from the 80's.Early 90's changed a bit but still best aluminum on the market.Definitely better than a Tracker !!!

The name of the material is TOP GUN or SUNBRELLA both are water resistent.We make boat tops but I am in Ottawa and are booked solid until mid June.Hate to say it but I'm sure most boat top places in your area will probably have the same wait.We charge about the same for a full cover on a 18ft bowrider .Good luck hope you get it done !!

What kinda motivation do you need to bring your "A" game.If you don't have it by the third round of the playoffs IT AIN'T COMING !!!! Alfredsson is playing like a man possesed and as far as the physical aspect goes there is not a more physical team left in the playoffs .It has nothing to do with Buffalo bringing their "A" it has to do with the fact that Ottawa is dominating and playing like a team.They are playing 60 mins of hockey every night(close to it at least) and Emery is making the big stops when he has to. He just beat the best goalie in hockey and Brodeur wish him luck and said the last time somebody beat him in the playoffs they went on to win the stanley cup (Ward).All you Sens haters will only be getting ulcers this year because the cup is coming to OTTAWA GO SENS GO !!!

I fully agree with you about fishing spots I just thought he could have been handled better that's all. There have been so many amazing stories about members helping each other in good and bad times.It feels like a bit of a family on here and I know personally that my family would never speak to me the way .I also realize that there is a bit of cabin fever going on here so i suggest a day of fishing for everyone !! I used to live by the Castor river and I have to agree with outdoorguy that you should hit the ottawa river instead.Although I do know of a great spot on the Castor that holds walleye but was given to me by my grandfather(keeping that one sorry).You will find walleye,barbot,cats and large mouth bass in there.Won't be easy to fish this time of year THICK CHOCOLATE MILK.Good luck and hit the river the crappies are going crazy down here !!!!

I'm a dealer and looked in the book and without seeing it a 14ft tin can is $3300 and the motor is worth around $1600.These are just ballpark sight unseen but if you say it's in good condition total package around $5000 .Do not pay more than five !!!! hope this helps

Well i will probably be able to help you as well because we are a Legend a Lowe dealer and can help you with the specs. The way I approach this is Legends are more for families than they are for fishing.If the model has a full windshield they come standard with full stand up tops(nice touch and are good quality TOP GUN material)Gunnels are a little smaller than the Lowes,not as wide,smaller deck and casting space.Legend is assembled in Canada but they are Polar Craft hulls !!And my one issue is that they have packaged their boats with 2stroke mercs which they do not make anymore !!To get the 4stroke you have to add $2500 to your package price.And you only have one choice of motor and that is a Mercury. Now Pikehunter nailed it on the head.I have a Lowe myself and I can tell you that I will buy another one and highly recommend buying the Lowe over the Legend.And as I mentioned you have to pay $2500 for the upgrade on the motor so it seems like a no brainer for me.Best thing about my Lowe is the Side console is pushed off the side so I am able to walk(or run) around the entire boat.It is like having a full casting deck around the boat.Much more solid boat double riveted.nicer finish,bigger livewell,more storage and we will put a Evinrude Etec or a Honda on instead of The Mercury anchor.Now I also realize most people have a budget but if the $1500 isn't going to break the bank the Lowe will make up the difference simply in performance and durability. Legend has had some issues in the past but have seemed to fix there problems so I hope this helped and if you need any further info just ask ,Cheers and tight lines

I would go 4 stroke before optimax. And a good rule of thumb with motors is to never go less than 75% of the max horsepower rating.I agree about maxing out the horsepower because you don't want your motor pushing and working any harder than it has to.People always forget that a marine motor is constantly pushing not like a car motor.Another option is the Evinrude Etec.Much lighter than a four stroke ,more fuel efficient,more torque, 2008 emission tested in California and Europe....just the best motor on the market !!! Just my two cents
