Hi all, Got out to a local lake that certainly takes more effort to get to than it does when its frozen. Great fun hauling my boat in with the ATVs, only got stuck 3 times. Fishing was average, but i outfished my buddy Chuck for a change and we had some banter about that all afternoon which is always fun. Mel scored a couple of nice eaters too, the wind was up but the sun was out. Water temps at the surface in the 70 - 74 degree range, Wind NW 20kmh+, sun and clouds but hazy with forest fire smoke. The bigger fish we found were consistently relating to the drop offs from weed lines in 16'-18' FOW. The smaller fish were in the weeds, especially in one spot where there was considerable current at the mouth of a creek. The pike were friggin everywhere as per usual...lol. SORRY PEOPLE, SOME COLOURFUL LANGUAGE IN THIS VID <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Found this article whilst reading the news...gruesome and cool at the same time. An unusual clash between a 6-foot (1.8m) alligator and a 13-foot (3.9m) python has left two of the deadliest predators dead in Florida's swamps. The Burmese python tried to swallow its fearsome rival whole but then exploded. The remains of the two giant reptiles were found by astonished rangers in the Everglades National Park. The rangers say the find suggests that non-native Burmese pythons might even challenge alligators' leading position in the food chain in the swamps.

Hi all, fishing opportunities have been few and far between for me recently...i do get out with the kids at work regularly but its not 'fishing' the way i like to fish. Anyway...did manage a pleasant ride round our bay on July 1st with my wife and boy...here's some pics of my boy admiring my monster walleye. ...since i've not been getting out much...i spend alot of time taking random pictures in our yard....Sunsets, eagles and herons.

Dogfish wriggle after being skinned and gutted
limeyangler replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
definitely Liverpool or Manchester area accent as you say Cudz. So since there are no bowfin that i have ever heard of or seen in the UK, those are definitely the shark type Dogfish tails (i've skinned and ate a few myself...they never did that though) This is the fishy right here -

glad i skipped watching woefull England

I thought it was just general knowledge Thats gonna be an interesting match, i was very impressed by the Germans....although its easy to look good against England at the moment. NO...we absolutely should not give England any credit...they were a steaming pile of dung from the beginning. What we need to give them is a pay cut...these bozzos on average earn over $150,000 A WEEK! not very good value for money. England have been out in the 1/4 finals before....but at least those times they played well and treated us to some good football in the group stages...this world cup was just embarrassing. I wish that the disallowed goal incident never happened because now they have an excuse....when really there are no excuses left. Anyhoo...good luck to Germany...they deserve to go all the way! -
HI All A MUCH BETTER WAY TO SPEND 2 HOURS THAN WATCH FEEBLE ENGLAND PLAY FOOTBALL <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The plano liquid bait container is very good.

Hey Shan &jay, I'm not quite sure about all the wire stuff you mention, but usually the transducer reads temperature , already built in, no need for anything 'extra'.
-
Sorry for your loss Jer, very sad.

Welcome to the board rigged, look forward to your reports.

Hey Sudzy, dunno whether you saw my recent report.....but i stopped using downriggers and mostly anchor up in 50-60 FOW and vertical jig them with jigs and minnows or jigging raps/spoons/swedish pimples/white tube jigs etc....basically the same lures and techniques i use when icefishing. I have certain spots marked now on my gps...but i found these by picking an area and slowly trolling a grid pattern with a constant eye on the fishfinder...as soon as i see bait fish ...anchor up and jig....you'll be able to watch the trout on your sonar come up and hit the bait...really fun way to catch them...and very effective when your'e not in too deep a lake. It also gives you an up close and personal view of what lures they like, really like and outright reject on any given day as you are watching in real time their reaction . Here's a sample vid of me using the technique in on Sunday. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Friday afternoon Musky Fishing with my son Nick
limeyangler replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
LOL...love the part about your son sweetening the deal for himself...great initiative shown right there!...damn i wish i was that smart at his age...damn...i wish i was that smart NOW! anyway...great story...sure he'll get the musky bug now. Great report and great pics....that last fish looks very clean...nice fish. -
Thanks Jacques, the only real challenge recently is 'Limey' finding time to fish! darn....you guessed right...my secret is out! A lot of people asked why i was not in the Walleye masters...my excuse...no live well.....lol...the real excuse....i dont know where the big fish are on the goon yet...and i dont want to pay a $300 entry fee to prove i dont know...lol. Thanks corvette, yup...it certainly made up for the lack of fishing recently...mind you i would have settled for no fish too....just being out in the boat on a beautiful morning (by myself) was worth the wait. Thanks Bill...the bass were on fire...but i was already an hour late so had to draw on every ounce of will power to drag myself away from a hot topwater bite and get home reasonably on time and actually be a father on Father's Day. Thanks JB...will do!
