  1. Pfffft… whatever… lol. nice going Brian, whitefish are a blast! Tasty too!
  2. Have you eaten crappie? I like them essay more than walleye. Crazy weather seems to be the norm now.
  3. Managed to squeeze in another short session, glad I did, we had fish Tacos for supper. Some nice size ones too, which made up for not getting my limit.
  4. You’re not the only one.
  5. mic drop….awesome.
  6. That would be too easy.
  7. Hi all, We went to one of my favourite walleye lakes, I especially like it as it’s a nice skidoo ride right from the house. We decided before we left to try a spot my buddy had fished in the boat this past summer as our usual go to spots had been kind of slow as of late. We also thought we’d try a morning bite instead of the usual sundown bite. Things were slow at first but at 9:30am someone flicked the switch to ‘Bite’ and for 45 minutes it was game on, good fun, good company with some decent size fish.
  8. Almost just steamed fish.
  9. Right on! Yeah, whitefish works good because it’s firm like you say. Now you’ve given me a reason to keep pike…disgusting creatures… lol
  10. Hey Shag, absolutely allowed to keep whitefish, but I had more than enough for a feed of walleye. I hate freezing fish if I don’t have to and that would have been the case with my work schedule, does that make sense? I sometimes keep them as my neighbour puts them in his smoker and we go halves, but he’s a snowbird and ain’t around till April. I also like to make a fish soup with whitefish…here’s my recipe……
  11. Couldn’t resist.
  12. TERRY AND BRIAN
  13. Winter is here. Actually winter has been here for nearly a month, it’s just taken me a while to catch up to it, getting older I guess. The lakes started locking up Nov 15th give or take a few days and we headed out over the weekend and found 6” of clear black ice with just a few inches of snow cover on a favourite local walleye spot. Fished for a couple hours from 1 pm , leaving before sunset with 15 or so fish between the three of us. Many of the fish released as they were over 18” , only one fish over 18” per person allowed in a limit of 4. Anyway, enough reciting the Zone 5 regs……..
  14. Yup , a broken old .410 I was given 8 years ago. My son has a .22
  15. I fish all those lakes (except LOTW) and it’s the first time I’ve heard it, but love it!
  16. We are having a regular Fall season this year, some warm days and some cooler. Despite the ridiculously wet spring the grouse are numerous. I finally got out the last week to shoot a few, took a rod along too to shore fish. my son took his Hunter’s and Firearms course this spring and we got out for the first time yesterday. He’s a very good fisherman but just not really into it, he loves hunting though. He’s using a .22 I got for him for his Birthday, neither of us are used to it yet, and while we managed 5 shots at birds yesterday we alas ended up birdless, but he loved it and is pumped to go again. Can’t wait for him to get his first bird!
  17. “Too busy to pull out the camera”….. best days!
  18. Lol, all good, appreciate the input, helps to confirm.
  19. Thanks Brian, but that sounds like a (reasonable) guess. I just can’t find a ‘for sure’ answer. It’s not on the packet, I can’t find it anywhere online so I thought I’d try here.
  20. All well and good Arizona, but which eye is the shallow eye?
  21. Hi all, anyone know which eye on these lures does is for shallow dives? Top or bottom eye.
  22. Hi all, got up to Lac Seul here in NW Ontario for the first of our ‘3 Amigo’ fishing trips of the year. All reports, including the ones from folks at the landing moments before heading out, were indicating ‘spotty’ fishing at best. Late ice out, high water levels and a relatively cold start to the year had me believing it, as did the first 2 hours out there hopping around depths from 30’FOW to 4’FOW, with only a fish here and there from all those depths. Nothing really on the mid water humps, although some were absolutely loaded with schools of bait fish, the walleye won’t be far behind but not quite settled on those predictable and productive summer spots. The sweet spot seemed to be windswept shores between 8’ and 17’ FOW, and we found a particularly sweet stretch of shore with non stop 20”+ fish right under the boat. Leeches, plastics, minnows in that order worked best.
