  1. Shiners, chubs, and dace all working.
  2. R.C., I'll leave the derby up to you. One less thing for me to arrange.
  3. I'll make sure to have some cold pop for you Wayne. I may have a beer or five but I'm not flying home. Not driving either lol.
  4. Well done you two. I can't believe the # of ling caught this year.
  5. Nick, I think this is what we did......from last years thread....... We also need to set some derby rules. How about a Toonie to enter? Perch need to be 8" to count, Walleye need to be 10" to count and Pike / Herring need to be 12" to count. Most fish and biggest fish should split the prize money?
  6. Yep. My boys are 2 and 8 and they love it. Lots of age appropriate activities for all ages.....even you.
  7. My guess is some people will arrive between 7:30 and 9. We "kicked off" at 9 am last year. Last year I was able to purchase bulk shiners in pounds I have requested again so I will find out. I am sure the locals can adrerss the bait need if my supplier doesn't come through.
  8. Was that perch in Skip's pocket?
  9. Forecast looks incredible. May still have lots of slush Saturday 1/28/2012SunshineHigh Temperature: -2°CRealFeel: -4°C Beauty Day
  10. Pretty much all I use for drifting and trolling on Nipissing. A friend of mine in Iroquois Falls On, makes these for me. Micro-wire with single hook. 6-8" He makes these for pike. Like I said....pretty much all I use. Tipped with minnow, worm, or leech. Rod Caster makes some nice harnesses.,
  11. The more the merrier.
  12. O.K. the rocker minnows I have are bent slightly but I didn't think that much. I'll have to check the "bent" one I have. I don't think it says jig-a-wopper on it.
  13. I have 3 brand new ones. Blue, pink, and chartruse. I have another blue one that is still in the package. I hae one of the bent ones too. I thought it was a crippled herring?
  14. P.M.d you. My guess is that slushy areas got worse...but they are avoidable. I didn't get out today but will be at the hut tomorrow. I can update you then.
  15. Post # 63 on Page 4 of this thread written by yours truely contains all the motel / hotel info. You may benefit from reading the entire thread (or at least my posts lol) for other necessary info. Would love to have you join us Locnar.
  16. Is it the rocker minnow? They stopped making them about 3 years ago. I bought out the last 10 or so from Zellers here in North Bay.
  17. He's been a member since 2010....I'd think he introduced himself then?????
  18. Would be great to have you there again Lady.
  19. Type Nipissing into the search box in the top right and you will get some info. Welcome to the board Dave. How about a little introduction of yourself? Then start asking questions.....you will get better answers I guarantee it.
  20. PM me with lakes you are going to try and I'll give you my best info. I grew up in Kirkland Lake and we had a camp in Matachewan. T.J. may also have some great input on the area.
  21. Celebrate her life Kelvin, I am sure she was a wonderful person and now she has gone to the most wonderful place. Be strong but don't deny the grieving, it is part of the healing process.
  22. Spo far only live minnows have produced for me but a dead salted sucker close to bottom could get you a big ling over night.
  23. Spent 4 hours in the hut today but left before the evening bite. Managed 2 walleye, 3 pike, and 2 perch. I lost 3 fish and by the fight I am guessing one was a monster walleye that hit a 3" sucker minnow. I also lost what I'm guessing is a heavy pike as I hit the ice at the bottom of the hole and knocked it free. Good to see the pike and perch cooperating during the day with the odd walleye mixed in. Biggest pike I got today was 28" and the little walleye I kept was about 12.5". Also kept one 10" perch. When we get our holes drilled and it looks like swiss cheese we should have a productive day. I talked to a bait shop today about getting a pound and a half or 2 pounds of shiners. They will let me know later this week.
  24. Would be great to have you join us Dan.
  25. I'l put in another day at the hut tomorrow with a forecasted high of 0 the bite should be on.
