Richard...you can afford a $75000 boat...but you can't buy a $139 manual or $229 dollar auto inflating vest vs the $50 PFD... or the $80 - 4 pack that CTC has on sale right now. Just think of the storage space you'd have if you could get rid of one or two of the regular PFD's from the boat. That said, I like Roy, only wear a PFD when I'm alone. My choice, just like seatbelts in a car should be.

I think I'll go fishing for a few months, while you guys figure out how to ruin the board for good.... Let me know when I come back if I need to do an intro after 3 years on the board...okay

I'll keep an eye on the garbage pile at the marina this summer. All sorts of neat stuff shows up there...like the electric chain saw someone turfed and I fixed in 10 minutes the next morning. I've got two pairs of old CTC wood water skis in the boat house...but hell we're still using them! lol

Don...most old water skis are wood (and will freeze in) and only about 4 or 5 feet long. What you should do is hit the fall ski swap and find the longest widest set of downhill racing skis or jumping skis in the $10 rack.

Never thought of that...can ya beat it? Maybe a J3C65 for 40 years of coverage.....

Go into Walmart and buy the Remington(sp) 5/6 weight package deal. Less than a $100..rod..reel...backing...line...tippet. Works well, I haven't managed to break mine yet (bought the same package in a tackle shop in Yellowstone '04), casts okay and seems to reel in 2 and 3 lb bass just fine each night off the end of my dock tossing poppers and woolly buggers. When you decide you want to get heavily into it, then worry about the "prestige" of rod/reel names...

West of the Ontario Border (except the west coast) Nov 1st to May 1st. East of the Ontario Border Dec 1st to April 1st. That said it can be written out as an addendum. I'll wait 'till fall, see what the weather is looking like and then bump it to Dec 15th to cover the end of 'ski season on the Bay. Doubt I'll be doin the Niagara in the winter, but imagine you can amend the policy to cover the whole winter.

Fushimi PPark in Hearst. Middle of BFNwhere. Sand beach for the kids if you have them. Launch, easy to navigate lake with weedy bays hidden in back corners to fish for pike. Lots of structure to fish for pics. If lucky moose and the odd bear to view. Be sure you have a tight fitting boat cover though. 7 miles of the dustiest road you've ever seen to get in off #11.

Went in, with great reservations, to get insurance on the new boat today. Figured I should bring along my own jar of vasoline and found out instead that Sun has actually dropped their rates. SO if anyone is looking for insurance this season I suggest shopping around. On my 17' Glastron with 115 Johnson, covered for full replacement at $32,500/2 million liability, I was paying $680 plus tax for the First Mate - Plus package from Sun Alliance. Figured I'd get nailed for 3x that on the new 2150 Lund. I told them 50MPH max and their assessor(sp) agreed a boat that big/heavy couldn't go any faster than that. All said and done boat, motor, 9.9 kicker, electric trolling motor, all electronics, rod holder tracks, accessories, down riggers, $5K in fishing gear, 2 million liabilty...all with a full replacement face value of $97,000 (including tax), if someone decides to steal it all. Total premium $965 + tx. Shocked me, figuring I'd be around $2 grand. Quite happy, especially considering I pay $1700 for a 2003 Ford F150 that isn't worth more than $27000 now. Just hopefully I never actually have to make a claim.
