  1. I always pack before I leave. Usually the quality of meat and vegetables just isn't the same up north.
  2. Actually bro I do have a rod for you. 7 float rods? Dude that's crazy LOL! Bill's GL3 probably isn't what you think.. It's the 131/2' 3pc not the more popular 13' 2pc. Fantastic rod, don't know why it was never more popular.
  3. Awesome, can't wait to get a few myself! When was ice out where you were fishing?
  4. Agreed on the prospector design. The sliding seat is standard (I think).
  5. Enough guys. But thanks for the kind words. On a side note the kids like the new boat. They played in it all afternoon.
  6. Interesting I don't know anything about the new integrated hulls on Swift boats, I'll have to check it out. I previously have owned a 16' Swift Kipawa and a 17' Dumoine. Both fantastic boats but I shied away from another Swift as the service with those guys has always been brutal.
  7. Don't think so. The old boy wanted $1500 which was still a good deal, but I managed to talk him down. I didn't steal it from him either, he knew exactly what he had there and what it was worth. He just didn't care, wanted it gone.....
  8. I don't know John, sounds like it could be legit. If it is legit you'll be kicking yourself for not following up.
  9. Thanks everyone, it really was a great deal. Nemo at some point we'll have to get out together, I know you're into this kind of thing as well. Weight on the boat is 48lb's...very light and balances beautifully when carrying it. The prospector is a fantastic design. It's a symetrical boat that's good for both flatwater and has enough rocker for whitewater. I paddled this exact craft a couple years ago and fell in love with it.
  10. For a couple years now I've been forced to rent every time I did a canoe trip. Yeah I've got a 16' squareback Sportspal, but that's not really a canoe for tripping... Anyhow, I've known what I've wanted for a while now but coming up with the 3 thousand bucks to buy it isn't easy. Earlier this week I was checking Kijiji and someone locally was selling the exact canoe I've wanted for a while now. It was an older couple who had bought the craft 1 year ago and had used it ONCE. It's been stored indoors and doesn't have a scratch on it. I stopped by for a look and offered him a crazy lowball offer which amazingly he accepted. So....I get a canoe that retails new for $3000 plus tax for $1000. (To get the $1000 bucks I managed to pawn off one of my float reels ) Here it is, my new baby: 16.6 Langford Prospector Kevlar canoe with ash gunnels and cherrywood thwarts, beam and seats. It's got a sliding front seat and a kneeling pad with a contoured butt rest for soloing. Also in the deal were 2 Langford paddles worth at least $100 bucks each and full set of new tie down straps. Sweeeet!! (Can you tell I'm stoked?) I'm headed to Algonquin next week so the timing couldn't have been better!!
  11. Well done my friend! So how do you like the new rod?
  12. I use the Tite-Lok on my boat up north, love it.
  13. Ahhh the age of the internet angler. Gotta love it.
  14. By the looks of things it won't be a very long wait, cheer up.
  15. Up to you bud. Personally I wouldn't make the run unless it coincided with a fishing trip. On the other hand very few retailers in southern Ont carry these boats in stock unless you're lucky and they happen to have the exact one you want. Most of the time there's a bit of a wait, so chances are if you want it now you're driving to North Bay anyway..
  16. The factory is in North Bay. They're not supposed to sell to the public there and if you call beforehand and ask that's what they'll say. However if you show up with cash in hand they've always got a bunch of scratch and dents sitting in the back. I bought my 16' squareback there and my uncle bought his 14'er there as well. You'll save 2-3 hundred off retail... Website and location: http://www.bwmarineproducts.com/
  17. Garnet I understand the sentiment completely but it sounds like you're having a bad night or something. John if you still need roe I've got several hundred bags in various sizes and colours that will now be going to waste if you want them... (You'd have to drive to Grimsby though)
  18. Only cause you're allergic otherwise we'd be calling you Cronzy-lite. Hope your freeze dried foods taste yummy next week.
  19. I installed a 2nd dish at my camp in QC last summer. Followed the directions, adjusted the dish accordingly...nothing. Then I had my wife check the tv for me while I was on the roof. Got it to work but it was unreal how precise it had to be set. Even just tightening the bolts I lost the signal. Eventually got it though.. I think you've got the right idea bringing the tv on the roof with you if you don't have someone to help.
  20. Brook trout definitely, it's been a long wait.
  21. You made me check wickipedia . Very interesting fish indeed. Says early settlers called them "salmon" 'cause of their vague resemblance to the fish of their homeland. I guess the name stuck.
