  1. If you're standing in ice water all day long in minus temps and not doing a lot of walking (most of my winter spots fall into that category), nothing will keep you as warm as a pair of 5mm neoprenes with attached insulated boots. That lesson has been learned the hard way.
  2. Those are the exact waders I wear in the winter, especially when there's not a ton of walking involved and you're standing in ice water all day. Nothing keeps you as warm. The rest of the year I wear stockingfoot breathables and wading boots. If you could only have one pair of waders I'd have a look at a pair of bootfoot breathables. Still light and comfortable, but the attached boots are better in cold weather and you can layer up underneath when it's cold out. It's not an ideal solution, but if you're only buying one pair that's the way I'd go. Cabelas, Orvis, LL Bean, etc.. all make good waders with great warranties.
  3. Are you a resident of NY?
  4. Unbelievable. Whatever happened to officers using common sense?
  5. Wayne would you? That would be awesome!!
  6. Nice goin' boys! (That's a pretty funky looking red patch on that one fishes head. Strange.)
  7. Alright I've decided to do it. Check out my website @ pimpmyriver.com
  8. Ironically enough I went to T.O. last spring to see this guys boats. He was selling some kevlar canoes at a ridulously cheap price that he made with this mold. Let's just say I wasn't too impressed.
  9. I came very close to achieving that 3 years ago, had several networks interested and my partner and I had already filmed one episode. Such are the vagaries of life though, the project was scuttled just as it was taking off. There's been some excellent points made regarding why not to be a river guide. These are some of the very reasons that have caused me to hedge on doing it. I do belive that a balance could be struck and it could be done properly though. First and foremost would be "where?". I have a few ideas...
  10. Actually I think it's a pretty good idea. My wife has been pestering me to make a bit more money which would equate into less fishing for me. Guiding is an attractive option. (Ironically enough it's something I've been thinking about for a while now.)
  11. That's fantastic, congrat's! (Good job as well on the guiding Mike)
  12. There's been some great points already made. Myself I use a centerpin not because it's more effective, but because I enjoy it. A spinning reel in the hands of someone who knows how to manipulate it properly is just as effective. It's also got the edge when it comes to versatility.
  13. Indeed. My hands sweat profusely I need extra holes for ventilation. When are you gonna join me again?
  14. I'm sorry, but I'm in a cheeky mood tonight. No worries on the lack of reports, they won't be missed.
  15. Thanks for the post. It must be nice to have such personal mementos of your grandma. She had talent.
  16. Atta boy, nice to see you get both out at once! As a dad of two young ones myself I know from experience that's a feat in itself.
  17. Don't really know Harv, but we have mutual aquaintances. Ironically enough it was the report of Harv's day on Tuesday that made Bill bail. (If one is astute enough to recognize the river then they already know it intimately)
  18. Have you ever heard the expression "it's easier to apologize than it is to ask permission?" No worries though, there'll be other opportunities.
  19. Yeah bud, tomorrow is gonna rock. For those that don't know Bill was supposed to join Paul and myself on Wed. A mutual friend called him Tues evening and told him that a very good source had fished the river on Tues and caught one fish. Said don't waste your time. So Bill bailed.... I never let other peoples lack of success act as a barometer for my potential choice of spots. Hope ya learned your lesson!
  20. Exactly Chris. On that note how do you feel about Saturday John?
