  1. That's an interesting question and one that we've discussed at length. The only way to be certain is to get a genetic profile done on the fish and that's not going to happen. Personally I believe very few of those fish are strays but are instead stocked on that side of the pond.
  2. You know maybe I should. Not sure how to pull it off yet though. If anything the fishing is getting better, more and bigger fish. Maybe you should come down for another go at it.
  3. Good for singles and chumming, not much else. (I said that tongue in cheek btw, I know you're not the bonking type.)
  4. Some solid fish there, nice job. I destroyed 3 cameras myself before I bought my current waterproof and shockproof unit. It's really nice not having to worry about wreaking it anymore.
  5. Nice one buddy! Personally I maintain that these fish are strays from the U.S. Others I've talked to that are in the know say otherwise. Regardless did you bonk her?
  6. I appreciate the sentiment and am glad you enjoy the posts....... but please.
  7. Check your pm's. To everyone else thanks for the kind words.
  8. It's a hydroelectric power plant. When are you going to join me bud?
  9. Those bags are perfect, I've used them myself.
  10. One of these days I'll get you out.
  11. I've said it before too, but y'know you're welcome to join anytime bud. There were some good stories here that I neglected to elaborate on. One in particular, I'd mentioned to Bill that small white jigs were the ticket. Scrambling at the last minute he had nothing white to use for his homemade tie's. That is until he spied his snow white cat. Out came the scissors and he quickly whipped off a couple of jigs for the next day's outing. He actually did catch a beauty brown on his creation which for obvious reasons he named the pussy jig.
  12. Absolutely love it, I'm already down for another one.
  13. Steve I think you should take the lad out regardless, his enthusiasm should be rewarded.
  14. Either that or a mouthful of goo. (No need to use a straw btw. Close the ziplock completely then open a tiny gap in the middle. Wrap your lips around and suck. While your still stucking use your fingers to seal the small gap.)
  15. Not much you can do about it now. The ultimate way to freeze roe is to put it in a small bag (enough for a days outing) and suck all the air out. Put the small bag in a styrofoam cup, fill with water and freeze. It'll last for years frozen this way as good as the day the fish was caught. Zero freezer burn. That said I rarely use this method, simply triple bagging it in ziplocks and removing the air. I use so much roe that it's never in the freezer long enough to get burned.

  17. Ironically enough yes. It appears that both rods were broken by user error. (When you encounter a snag, point the rod directly at the snag, clamp down on the reel and pull. Don't put the rod into a full load and walk backwards.)
  18. User error my friend, user error.
  19. I love the new Rainshadow XST blanks, they're fantastic.
  20. That's a great story, right out of a Field and Stream or Outdoor Life article. Congrat's on the fantastic outing!
  21. Not sure I'm following you here. You mail or drop off the broken rod to Shimano in Peterborough, and they'll replace it, end of story.
  22. Should also add, it's necessary to send in the entire rod as a new tip would need to be properly fitted. They're not all 100% the same...
  23. It's pretty simple. Package the broken rod up and send it to Shimano in Peterborough. They'll either replace the broken section or possibly the entire rod.
