  1. Good move a Lou-proof camera! Nice report Bill, thanks for posting.
  2. WTG, it's never an easy task to catch specks in the middle of a heat wave!
  3. Maybe so Shaun, but usually where there's smoke there's fire. People on here are generally just as quick to praise as to criticize. On a side note I have to say I always enjoyed your show as well as your delicious beer.
  4. Pay for a day on the water with a good guide, there's lots of them around. Best money you'll ever spend in the pursuit of fishing knowledge.
  5. WTG, catching specks in the middle of a heat wave is never easy.
  6. Maybe so Roy but my comment had nothing to do with OFC. It was completely unrelated and happened years before the current distate towards Merlands surfaced on OFC. From my perspective it just confirmed what I already knew.
  7. Is this a trick question like "How many OFC'ers does it take to screw in a light bulb?" BTW how many people can you fit in a cabin?
  8. Thanks for taking the time to post, looks like a lot of fun!
  9. Me too. I also became a fan other resorts after staying at Merlands once.
  10. My office is currently a frosty 20 celcius. How about you, hot enough for ya? (Glad there's no clock towers near me )
  11. Black and orange inline bucktail.
  12. Scary indeed. There's always a presedence. If I'm not mistaken many many moons ago the OMNR dumped triploid (genetically altered and sterile) chinook into lake o. I distinctly remember the salmon guys getting stoked about the possibility of 100lb great lakes chinnies. We're already living with a much more threatening consequence in lake Huron/Georgian bay. Untold thousands (millions ?) of pen raised rainbow trout have escaped and are mixing with our wild stocks. The current ON record was a mutant caught in the north channel a couple years back. On a personal level it's a sad sad situation.
  13. The bags are even cheaper when they're free. If you buy your milk in bags like I do you're set. Clean them out and they work just as good as the ones you buy.
  14. That was outstanding, thanks for taking the time to post.
  15. Small world indeed. Nice to see you get out Eric.
  16. Man it's good to see a report from you bud. Was just talking with Jason 10 mins ago. He was looking for your phone number....something about fishing a back lake for big bass.
  17. Lots of opportunities to choose from Dan. I can actually give you a good one in QC off the trans taiga road. You can drop a boat right in it.. and tons of fish. Can also give you a bunch of options in N/E ON about 7-8 hours from home. If you havn't decided yet we should talk.
  18. Of course it's not fair. One group is allowed free rein, the other is forced to abide by laws and regulations. Don't expect anything to change until it's too late. Crosshair neglected to mention the other native anglers who are selling fish in roadside stands and out of the back of their trucks. How are they being regulated? Don't tell me that's not happening because I've seen it. Nipissing has been one of the top tourist destinations in ON and has been for generations. It's value both economic and intrinsic is priceless. It boggles my mind that government would allow such a decline. Yes overharvest by non natives has also played a role (especially in winter), but no one can tell me that the leading cause of the decline in the walleye fishery isn't native netting. This topic has been hashed and rehashed so many times it makes me nauseous even replying to this. It's been said before but until the natives in this country stop getting subsidized by our government and integrate fully with the rest of society they will continue to be this countries leading social problem. If any of you liberal minded people really believe that we can all work together (natives and non natives alike) to create a healthier, stronger fishery in Nippissing then you're deluded. You're living a dream world. In order for the lake to bounce back to historical levels drastic measures need to be taken. If it was up to me I'd ban all netting and put a 10 year moratorium on all winter fishing. Unfortunately that's never going to happen.
  19. Glad to see you guys had a good trip after the initial setback.
  20. Do I really believe that? Absolutely unequivocally 100% yes. It's not complicated at all as far as I'm concerned. They're not controlling their part Jim. It's happening right before our eyes and yes we're all losing, both natives and non natives alike.
