  1. Don't think that'd fit the bill for Darryl, it's an outpost camp. Eddie's camp on that Attawapiskat River "might" though, especially if it's trophy pike you're after. It's the hottest trophy pike fishery going at least in Ontario. http://eddienorth.com/ Unless you're willing to travel to northwestern Ontario it may be difficult to find a fly in lodge with Bass as well as pike and walleye. If you get a bit more specific regarding your budget, what amenities you want, and how far you're willing to drive to the jump off point I can offer you many more possibilities.
  2. Apparantly 30 odd years ago there WAS a camp on Richter (this was recently made known to me). Frank Moonias the elder from Lansdowne House said it was always full of big walleye and pike. The fact that it hasn't been fished by anyone in 30 odd years leads me to speculate there's still lots of big pike and walleye. Of course it's a bit of a gamble, but not much of one. Pretty much every single fly in camp in that region has been fished for many, many years. (The MNR hasn't given outfitters any new land use permits in YEARS to build new camps) They're not tapped out by any means, but no way are they as good as a basically virgin lake.
  3. Frank, seriously stay away from Dog Lake, there's far better options in that area. Ray's Camp located off the Sultan road has good walleye fishing: http://www.rayscamps.com/ Happy Day Lodge on Windermere lake imo would be better than Dog. Large, very beautiful lake, great camp, AND if you can find the humps and fish a worm harness and bouncer, you'll catch lots of fish in the summer. http://www.happydaylodge.com/ Five Mile Lake lodge in Chapleau area has an ATV accessable outpost on Wenebegon lake, a large beautiful lake with great walleye fishing. Basically a fly in type experience at a fraction of the cost. They'll take you and your family in on atv's as part of the package price. http://www.fivemilelake.com/chapleau-outpost-camps.htm Along the same lines, Kanipahow Resort in Chapleau area has a really nice outpost on Embarass lake. Starting this year it's now road accessable (used to be fly in) and his guests have exclusive access. http://www.midnorthflyincamps.com/ontario-fly-in-walleye-fishing-outpost-camp.htm If you're willing to expand your horizons and consider a much further drive, but INFINITELY better fishing, take a look at O'sullivan's Rainbow on O'sullivan lake north of Nakina: http://osullivansrainbow.com/ I'm bringing my wife and two kids aged 4 and 7 to another lake just north of O'sullivan this July. Main priority for me is getting the kids into oodles of walleye and that'll be the best bet. Have fun planning.
  4. That was fast, good stuff bud! Almost wish I'd grabbed it myself.
  5. Mild weather coming bud, time to dust off the gear.
  6. Guys got an SS1300 for sale at a good price on one of the other boards I frequent. I've dealt with him before, he's solid. http://www.steelheadsite.com/forums/ads_item.php?id=4603
  7. Not really. His rate is $550, the 10 year old is free and the 12 year old is half price. That's considerably less than $900. As Chris already recommended I'd go to Ray's camp on Ramsey lake, nice camp, good walleye fishing, and roughly the same drive as Shooting Star.
  8. I had no idea that reel existed, cool. It's so new there's not many reviews on it though.
  9. What new one? Show me the link.
  10. Make sure you look at the gold series. There's a couple of different JM reels.
  11. That's not a Koi. It's an Aurora trout in full spawning colours.
  12. Art, I had a close look at that picture. The tail is too forked, it's a splake not a carp.
  13. Have to say I agree completely. A while back the Johnny Morris Gold series reels were on sale for $117 and I bought two of them. I think last year they were selling for $270? Amazing reels for the money, definitely better than the Curado. Has a couple nice extras as well: it comes in a zippered padded case with an extra handle and a neoprene reel cover. Highly recommended.
  14. Chris I could have sworn Sudbury had one at the north and south ends, I could be wrong though. They'd probably tell you if you called and asked.
  15. Great to read a report from you Mike! I can't believe you nutbars had dinner then fished again on the open ice 'till 1am after fishing all day in the cold! For ling! I think I remember what it was like to have that kind of fire burning in my belly. Ahh to be young. You're a fighter, stay the course and beat this thing! I'm looking forward to showing you some special steelhead spots this year. Chris, very nice gesture of you. Cheers
  16. You want to go to LOTW for big lakers? Yeah, those ones you caught were runts. I hate you.
  17. Agreed. My first answer was a guess, nothing more.
  18. I still wouldn't bet the life of my children that it's a brook trout. (I'll gladly buy the beer)
  19. Agreed. If you'd have said Rice right off the bat there would've been no doubt. Some of the creeks feeding Rice have brookies. There's certainly no splake. As far as the mis-identification goes, the tail is slightly forked in the pic. If you guys are curious google some images of splake. As mentioned depending on the strain they look pretty much exactly like spec's except for the tail.
  20. Looks good Mike. I'd be interested in some smaller ones, say around 1oz, 6 inches in length give or take. Possible?
  21. The tail is a bit of a giveaway Roy. I have pic's in my scrapbook of splake and unless I told you, you'd swear they were brookies.
