  1. It looks like the first sucker that I caught, but bigger. lol.. I've never even heard of a "red horse"
  2. Yeah I seem to be able to find the small < 1lb smallies everywhere, but I can never find their parents
  3. I've never been able to find a decent spot to consistently catch bass/walleye from the shore. I've walked the shore up and down for miles
  4. I got home from work and got the fishing itch. I went out and got a dozen worms and headed down to Cockshutt bridge. Alot of people fish right under the bridge, and thats ok, but the better spots are upstream and downstream around the bends. I walked and found a new spot that I'm going to hit up early morning on the weekend. It seems to drop off to fairly deep water almost immediately. I tossed my White Jig with White twister tail on it for a bit, but didn't get any hits. So I went back to trusty Worm + Hook. Got this guy after about 30 seconds. 2.1lbs Then this guy almost took my pole in the water. The mosquitos started to get REALLY bad and I had to take a 15 minute trek through the dark and mysterious forest in the pitch black. So I decided to cast out one more time while I cleaned up. I haven't ever caught a sucker this big before. He fought like a champ. Put him on the scale, 3.6lbs. The pictures don't really do it justice. I tried to show the scale by putting the Gulp spray next to it. I don't really like catching suckers/catfish, but when nothing else is biting, they are always a fun fish to catch Until next time...
  5. What is this? Where is this? lol
  6. This is the most confusing thread ever... I feel let down...
  7. Awesome. Thanks for the replies... I think I'm gonna get a hitch installed next pay!
  8. The GF and I were fishing at Waterford Ponds yesterday. We were using live worms. The guy next to us was using plastic worms with a bobber. (I think it was translucent green/black) And he pulled in a nice 3lb smallie with it. Meanwhile we caught 2 sunfish and nothing else :| So I have faith in the plastic worm now, I Just have to apply it!
  9. I think at most it would be just a 14' aluminum. I mainly go fishing by myself so I don't need a massive boat...
  10. Hey Everyone. Does anyone use their car to tow a small fishing boat? I have a 2007 Impala LS and was wondering if that was enough to tow a boat. I'm thinking of getting a hitch so I can start leaving the shoreline more often....
  11. I'm stubborn. I try for 15-20 minutes. Sometimes I don't change at all.. lol..
  12. Just got back from Waterford Ponds. We were on the road on Mechanic St fishing the south pond. We fished for 4 hours and caught 2 sunfish. Whatever was eating our worms was doing it in 1 hit, it was getting very frustrating. The stupid piece of crap rod that I was using for live bait sucks at setting the hook, and I got mad and slammed it into the ground. No more rod. lol... Guess you get what you pay for. The guy right next to us caught a nice 2-3lb smallmouth though...
  13. I agree. People are slobs. If I had a nickle for every worm container I've found at Wilkes...
  14. Thanks guys! I appreciate the tips. I might be goin out Carp fishing today, or to waterford ponds. I haven't decided yet
  15. I think me and the GF will be going out there tomorrow to do some shore fishing. I'm sick of fishing at Wilkes with 300 other people right beside me constantly casting over my line. Although it was interesting yesterday, I threw out my line with a worm on it, and it started tugging so i set the hook. I reeled it in, and on the end of the line i hooked a big clump of weeds, and then running through that horizontally was someone elses line (that they cut and left it out there, who knows how long ago), and it had a big sucker on it. So I caught a fish that wasnt even on my hook lol.
  16. Coming from Brantford, 403 to Rest Acres Rd I think it is, Which I believe is 24 south?.. Then turning left onto Thompson. I know theres other ponds but I don't know how to get to them
  17. Which pond are you fishing... I've only been to the one where everyone swims in. I can't remember how to get to the other ones, I think you have to go through waterford?
  18. Get a friend, get 2 nets, go on both sides and then watch chaos ensue.
  19. Hey Everyone. I think I'm going to take the wifey out for some Carp fishing this weekend, shes never caught a BIG fish and I think she would have a blast Does anyone know any popular places to go around Brantford? Its been forever since I've caught a carp, and even then I wasn't targeting them specifically, so I'm a bit rusty on techniques/bait. Any tips as well would be helpful
  20. What does NF mean? heh...
  21. I'm not sure. I got bashed for fishing in a special regulations fishing area, even though it wasn't one... lol. *shrug*
  22. Hey Everyone! I'm back from the cottage and a weekend of fishing on the Black River / Green River in Washago. Up until this point, all we've ever caught was small mouth bass, perch and rock bass. We woke up early Saturday morning and took off down to the Green River in the pouring rain. We fished there for about an hour and only came up with a few small perch and bass. On our way back the rain was really coming down, so we stopped under the 169 bridge. After a few minutes we rowed out and the current took us to the shoreline under a bunch of trees. The water was really shallow, only about 5-6 feet, and there was a giant felled tree laying in the water. So I took my trust white jig head, with a half worm on it and plopped it in the water, as it was on its way down.... BAM... My first Pike ever! On the way back, my girlfriends brother caught this monster lunker. We decided to head in. Later that day around 4pm we took the boats out again just out from our dock and I dropped the Jig down again, this time the water was about 15-20 feet in the middle. BAM. First Walleye I've caught up there, and first walleye in almost 10 years! After that we called it a day. Sunday Morning we woke up and took off to a spot just around the corner from the cottage. A Very deep hole. About 20-25 feet. After about 5 minutes of jigging (I got my gf's brother hooked on it now) he pulled in these 2 fish. and this one Finished off the day a few minutes later with I didn't catch alot of fish, but I was so thrilled to catch my first Pike, and a nice walleye that I didnt care. I can't wait to go again!
  23. Its crazy how it turns from the Black to Green River, the water clarity difference is almost instant. Its really neat seeing the giant boulders 20-30 feet down in the water (Whilst trying to avoid hitting other ones with the motor prop lol) Last time I was there I dropped anchor right at the mouth of the green. There was a little tree overhanging and a big weedbed. Caught a ton of perch and a few smallies. I can't wait!
  24. Few more hours and I will! Probably get there around 9 tonight because of all the traffic. Hopefully there's some nighttime walleye out looking for a snack near our dock
  25. Incorrect. It is part of the exceptional waters, but there are not any special fishing regulations there. The regulations apply up the dam around the corner to Paris, which is the edge of Brant Park.
