Fishing for Steelhead with Hardware
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
I bought a red one, one of those chinese ones for $5, and I broke it trying to turn it on lol... Lost 2 spoons and I didnt have the right size floats for the bigger glowsticks Does anyone know anywhere to buy them online? (The red ones) Thanks for the tips -
My initial reaction would be no, as they tend to be near the bottom. However, last week one took a swipe at my float... It has the teeth marks on it to prove it.

Do you just let it sit in the current and keep the line tight? Or do you retrieve? -

I bought a few of the little glow sticks to attach, but the kind that glows brighter doesnt fit on my raven floats. And the mini sticks get too hard to see. -
How come I can't respond to PM's on my Blackberry?
[email protected] replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
I have issues with the site as well, the buttons don't really work well. I have to goto a specific thread first, and then click on the General Discussion link to get to the forum. I can't just click General Discussion. An option you can try is to get a different browser. I use the Blackberry one, Bolt and Opera Mini. They all work great for different things. -
Hey everyone. What is the proper way to fish for steelies with hardware? I've read that you should cast upstream and slow retrieve enough to keep the slack off and just enough to spin the blades. Is there a better way of doing this? Can you cast down stream to the bottom of a pool and retrieve through it? or will that spook the fish. I havent had any luck with roe bags at night, hence why I'm asking, and it gets dark at like 4:30, and I work till 5 so that effectively eliminates fishing in the light

Congrats Laz Wish I could land more than 1 in an outing lol -
Its not... Its supposed to be 100 feet.. But the MNR never does anything about it. Vin, who was it that was using 3 rods? I left the creek and went to the dam at around 1:30-2 and I didn't see anyone. There was a father teaching his daughter how to wade and fish.. was pretty cool. And the usual people I see there as well..

My NEW Wading boots are slippery as ...... in the mud
[email protected] replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
How do you put these in without puncturing the inside and stepping on them LOL. -
Yeah I use the improved clinch. I'm not sure if its breaking or if its slipping. The palomar knot looks good, but tying in in the middle of a river seems impractical. Davy knot here I come!
-
How many times do you wrap it around the line?
-
I think at that time I was using 4.5lb Raven fluoro I went to tie on some 4.4lb Frog hair, and I noticed that CPA sent me 4.4KG frog hair.. (10lb) lol.... Gonna have to email him to see what we can do.

That sucks

I wish I could report news of landing fish but alas.... I went 0/1 on Saturday and 0/1 today. The one i hooked into today was a beast. It swam beside another guy out in the middle of the river and he said it was at least 30 inches... I fought it for a couple minutes and it took me across the river where it proceeded to snap (?) my leader. I'm beginning to wonder if I should switch knots. I've been using the improved clinch, and I think its slipping. Maybe next outing I will use the Davy knot. Anyways, on Saturday tribhunter and I walked all the way down a creek.. Long walk Today, I decided to walk up the creek and learn to read the water. I must say it is pretty fun just walking along the water mapping out where fish should be and all the little nuances. I don't really like creek fishing as I didn't have any success... I have only hooked into fish in the bigger rivers. So thats pretty much what I have to say... I hope next time I go out I can land multiple fish... Oh ya, and if anyone finds a pair of silver XPS sunglasses with brown lens floating somewhere let me know

I had the exact same problem this weekend. I bought a pair of boots with the felt bottom and they work awesome for rocks, but walking on the clay at Bronte... I almost died... lol... -
