  1. That is pretty good. The fact that Klein took him seriously is golden.
  2. NIce report. Thanks for posting.
  3. I've never heard of someone benching 10 lbs before...that guy must have been really weak.
  4. This guy obviously has a grudge against you. Getting in a fight with a cop is never a good idea. Although you are friends with his boss and with some of his co-workers, there are probably other people he works with who don't know you, or may have it in for you as well. You could document everything that happened to you and your wife, and record when you see him drive by your house. Find a place to talk to him and tell him you have everything documented, and if he doesn't lay off you'll file a formal complaint.
  5. Spoken like a true leafs fan
  6. I think it is important to remember that gone are the days when one, or a group of people would see something wrong with the environment and they would then act on it. Quite often we recognize a problem and identify a solution to the problem through our perception of what has happened. The issue here is that what we think is the problem may not be, it just may be a change associated with the problem. If we act based on anecdotal evidence instead of the actual facts, then we may cause more harm than good. For the most part this is the argument that people on this forum are giving towards culling cormorants. I would guess that most people who argued against a cull would have no problem if there was legitimate evidence to support it. I would argue that this is not anything but a P3TA or hippie attutide. If we are to engage in a debate we should not fall into the habit of stereotyping our opponents as people who are diametrically opposed to us. I would suggest that the members of this board have very similar values and beliefs, and if we disagree with each other just try to keep in mind that we have a lot in common.
  7. If you just need a casting reel I would strongly consider the revo Winch (not the toro) as it has the same drag as the toro reals and is much lighter. It does have a smaller line capacity than the toro reels, but after a day of casting your arms and wrists will thank you.
  8. The exchange of ideas and debate is not meaningless. I think the idea here is not that we should cull ourselves, but rather to point out the irony of the argument to cull cormorants. Only an unreasonable person would argue that it is not worth debating someone whose ideas are different than their own.
  9. I have a Revo Toro and a winch (not the revo). I like the winch paired with a compre when casting. I am looking to get an extra heavy rod to pair with the Toro. I am happy with the toro and winch. If you got the winch it could double as a cranking reel. If I was looking to go for both pike and musky I would go with the winch, but to be honest the curado is probably just as good. THe best advice I can give you is not to cheap out on a rod. I have a rapala magnum and the compre is vastly superior. I do not think it can be beat for it's price.
  10. How is suggesting that we look at all our options a tree hugging hippie mentality? I am just asking people realize that their actions have effects. Sometimes people see what they recognize as a problem and identify a solution that makes sense to them, but when they act on their solution they just create more problems. I do not like to be insulted because I disagree with someone's opinion. And yes, I would consider being called a tree hugging hippie an insult.
  11. Also check out Tackletour.com it has reviews and a good forum. It has reviews of a lot of gear. Also try the basspro website, as it has reviews of gear as well.
  12. What part of it was inconclusive, unless you are arguing that climate change is not real? It seems rational that the longer it takes to fix a problem the harder that problem will be to fix and the more expensive it will be to fix it. Sorry but your statement that it is inconclusive indicates to me that you did not really look at the review in any detail. Sorry to hijack this thread.
  13. I think that is a kind of unfair statement. While I do find that there is a bias towards shimano products here, it is for good reason. With the proximity to the Peterborough office, and a reputation for quality. While they may not be the best choice for everyone they should be considered and compared by people looking to purchase new equipment. If the poster was looking for less expensive gear I would point him towards some less expensive gear. On that note I would compare a rapala r-type rod and reel to the more expensive gear and see what you like. A combo of that sort would be about half the cost and may suit your needs. The one thing I will say is don't just get a stradic because people on this forum tell you too. Look at all the gear in your price range a buy what feels good in your hand.
  14. You are right, that is mostly off topic. However, abandoning alternative energy sources and culling cormorants do have one thing in common. They are an easy, painless solution that so not address the root cause of the problem. I do not want to get sidetracked on to other issues as this topic has for the most part been an informative debate on the issue. As an aside I would encourage you to look over the Stern Review if you have never heard of it.
  15. There are many parts of this post that make sense, however I take issue with that last part: "This mentality is rooted in anti-market, pro-government indoctrination. It is based on economic ignorance and fed by a feeling that one’s self-identified moral superiority makes one’s every idea possible merely because one has thought it, along with millions of other progressive-minded individuals. While it is true that the current cost of alternative energy is high, and will have an impact on our economy, the price of inaction may be even higher. In 2006 this issue was studied and the findings were published in the Stern Review. The review looked at climate change, so you need to believe in climate change in order for this report to have any relevance. (I would argue that climate change may have something to do with the explosion in the cormorant population.) Here is a link to the review itself: http://siteresources.worldbank.org/INTINDONESIA/Resources/226271-1170911056314/3428109-1174614780539/SternReviewEng.pdf Here is a link to the a wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stern_Review The review came to the conclusion that the longer we put off finding alternative sources of energy the more expensive it will be for us as a society to find a solution when fosil fuels are no longer a viable option. Even if you do not aggree with this opinion it is an interesting perspective.
  16. Don't you feel weird wearing it?
  17. I would have to agree with slowpoke on this one. Cover your butt and be prepared to make a claim with paypal and ebay.
  18. For reels I would look at the shimano stradic (CI4 or FI) 2500 and the pflueger supreme xt and patriarch 9530. For rods I would look at the st croix avid and the shimano crucial I am partial to 7'. Medium power should cover most species. Mix and match to see what you feels right. If you wanted some money left over BPS offers the Stradic FI and the Supreme XT paired up with a house brand carbonlite rod that seems to be nice.
  19. Im my experience shipping with UPS or fedex is a mistake. Always go with the USPS.
  20. Tell me about it...the only advantage is I might focus even more attention of coaching.
  21. I'm a fantasy football addict. I'll watch any football but prefer the NFL.
  22. The only thing I'm fanatical about is fishing...and football. That is all.
