  1. Hey... What are you doing up so early?? Going fishing or something?
  2. I'm on a hardwater high! It's all I can think about. There's nothing like walking on water.

  3. A week in my house when someone is not sick! No hunting stuff for me this year. I need a new tabogan. And a really good pair of winter gloves. Materials... Building a new gear box and augar rack for the Bravo. Insulating my hut.
  4. Thanks Burt! That's simple enough eh. Except it throw some electrical tape on the just for the hell of it!
  5. I was thinking that. I didn't have any black hockey tape, or I would have used that. Water proof duck tape! I didn't know it even existing. I'm gunna ask for that in my stocking!!!
  6. Thanks guys. The metal strapping idea. Funny thing is.. I was pondering things in the garage before starting this little project.... And I looked right at a bag of metal strapping..... So if this doesn't work, it's a free upgrade!
  7. Do you have a "T" at the top of that to sit flat on the ice?
  8. I am eventually going to buy a proper Ice-Ducer. But the cheap in me wants to try this first... For the last few years, I've been trying to use it with the plastic suction cup mount still attached (cup removed). And in anything deeper than 30', it's a pain in the butt. Constantely having to tweak it so it's pointing straight down. I rigged this up so it hangs perfectly straight. The one big downside I can see right away, is the strain relief (or lack there of) on the chord entering the transducer. But I'm thinking it should work pretty good. Thoughts? Anyone try something like this before?
  9. I can't imagine what was going through everyone heads involved. Scary stuff!
  10. I'm going to have to try that. I've been using Carolans for some time now.. But for some reason as of late, it's been giving my wife and I bad stomach aches..... Not sure what's up with that.
  11. Fireball is a great ice fishing treat. And the maple whiskey someone mentioned earlier. Chad had some of that last year. Goes great with breakfast!
  12. Can't go wrong with a decanter of Bushmills either!!!
  13. This weekend will be an advernture for sure.! But if I can get to the hole, I'll be a very happy man! We'll see what Wayne's re-con mission reveals!
  14. I enjoy a bottle of Forty every now and than. It has a new flavour. Something on the label about a cherry kask. But my favourite Rye is Canadian 83. That's my birth year.. Tastes great on the rocks. But also goes great with A&W.. And makes a great tasting home made Baileys for the X-mass holidays. I'll have to grab a bottle of OFC next time I'm in the mood for Rye... Likely the anual Nip. trip.
  15. I your going up. Snap some shots of my stompin grounds would ya!!
  16. Man. It was 13° on lunch.. I just went and grabbed a coffee from Randy's truck, and it feels like -5° with the wind... That was quick!
  17. I agree, it's nice to get ride of the insulation.. But when you only have a few inches of ice to start with. I don't know what this +12 day it going to do.? Say we had 4" last weekend. Then mild temps this, including +12 day. Do you guys things it's worth an hour drive up this weekend (Dec 7th) to check my crappie spot?
  18. Back at Dec 6.. or Jan 6th? You'll be eating lots of fresh crappie over the holidays by the looks of it!
  19. Today is really messing things up. It's supposed to get pretty warm today. But the long term forecast looks great! I'll likely steer clear of the ice this weekend. But Dec 14, I'm getting my hopes up. My favorite crappie spot has dicey ice early season... This is from a few years ago. This pic always gets me pumped for crappie fishing!!!
  20. Lots a room fellas! But I don't think one bottle will get us far...
  21. For keeping you warm this hard water season!! Anyone try this stuff?
  22. Start of the season last year, i was 220.. Start of the season this year, I am 170... And no longer the heaviest in my crew!! No leading the way for me this year!!
  23. I also see no need for a floor in a portable hut.. But the designer in me is thinking you might be able to rig something on a hinge, that would also double as a cover while in tow. That you could flip down first, than flip your hut over second... Assuming your new portable it a flip over style that folds down into a sleigh. Not sure what material you would use... And it would get soaked all the time... Doesn't sound worth the effort to me.
  24. That's what he calls them too... It was on the tip of my tongue, just couldn't remember the exact word.
