I mostly fish the west side of Cook's Bay which is the lower narrower part of Simcoe. 400North, exit at the Cookstown outlet mall and take 89 east to hwy 11, turn left so that you are heading north and turn right on Killarney beach Road. Follow Killarney beach Road in to Lefroy and go around the bend in town, it is now called Ewart street and you are in a little town called Belle Ewart. "Love to Fish Simcoe" is there on you left. Bait and supplies and knowledge of where to go is found there! You can park down the road or the at the belle ewart park and walk of the end of the park. Be careful where you park because the town municipality put up no parking signs for snow removal and will ticket you in certain places. If not ask at Love to fish Simcoe where to park. Just Fyi The west side of Simcoe is NOT fishable not.

The whole thing is just one big "dog and pony show". Typical strategic chess move by the government to put someone in that position that knows nothing. Just like the minister of Native affairs. THe guy has never met an Native until he was appointed to that position. There is NO money for the enviroment and there is NO money for fishing/hunting and the MNR. Everything is on a shoe string budget! Important topics that take over everything.....Child Care, Health Care, and More Immigration, Oil etc. these are the things that will continue to take precident until we oust Liberterian type ideas. Get rid of the high tax in this country let there be a two tiered health care system, Have a medicore child care system, make people take care of their own kids not the government, Correct Immigration and get the deliquents out of here , you do a crime and your deported end of story.... I work and you don't sooooo sad. I get health care and you get the B rated hospital. THat's the way its got to be. Until that happens in my opinion there will be only money spent on the those key election topics! and than we can have some money and resources for FISHING BOWS and Hunting BEARS!!! I am done that's my rant.

yes its fishable. People are catching in close and the perch are starting to school up and there are some nice sized ones to be had. I only fish on the west side of cook's bay and all the small little bays are producing and off the peirs. good luck.

Spin casters who lobb large spoons, spinners or what ever other hard tacle they use...... I wouldn't consider to be too adaptable!

Personally if you want to get into steelhead fishing... the only way to go is by flyfishing or centrepin floatfishing. Spin casting is looked down upon by the rest of the river fisherman it almost seems like there is a hiearchy. And that's just my opinion so no need for a whole bunch of negative comments back.

Follow this Road into town and go aroung the curve. You will come to a store on your left "Love to Fish Simcoe" bait and tackle store. Stop there if you need bait,gear, or pointers! Opposite to the store is a small street to a marina where there is a fairly good government dock and they are apparently getting some nice perch off the end right now. I can't remember the name of the marina right now but if you go there you can't miss it.

Salmon will hit only out of anger or if the lure/fly is put directly infront of their mouth. Most stories you hear of people catching salmon after salmon are flossing or snagging them whether intentional or accidental. One guy told me who can catch salmon with cigarette butts...just put it infront of them?

I went to Rain Lake last year and fished it this time of year with no luck. I was looking for Lakers. It is nice fairly protected paddle to the lake. I liked the spot. There were a lot of blue berry patches. BUT NO fish to be had for me.

This is not the first time I have heard this about legend boats! Legend Boats is place that people need to start boycotting! I know of first hand three people who are locals in the area who have had similar problems with Legend Boats and I have heard numerous other stories. LEGEND BOATS YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone recommend any fly fishing sites that are Ontario or Canadian based that would be geared towards Steelhead and or Salmon?

I have the 16 6 prospector holy cow canoe. I bought it off ebay new with a small dime size mark that I couldn't even see on the hull. When you buy from Holy Cow you almost have to upgrade which they don't tell you. For Example, you NEED the upgraded yok, you Want the aluminum gunnels and the skid pads on the bottom of the bow and stern! Those in my opinioin are a must and I was slightly disappointed when I felt the canoe needed them. That was just a buyer beware. All brands of canoes may do that. I can say this I have portaged many canoes and Holy Cow Canoe makes one light canoe and comfortable with the upgraded yok. I would not go for the 15 foot it will be too small for you and your wife your gear and a child. You have to think what you will use this for ......Kevlar.....portaging....No portaging you can go more durable and cheaper than. The kevlar canoe I purchased ended up oil canning baddly which means the belly of the canoe flexed with the water. I called and they fixed it right away with in two days! Awesome customer service. The canoe has a great line and is nice and quick in the water. Now with canoe not oil canning it is one fantastic canoe. If Iwas you I would absolutely try paddling ....Swift, Langford, Bluewater, Scott, and Holy Cow Canoe BEFORE buying....and then compare prices with the additional upgrades. pm me and I will talk to about my canoe if you want.

Any advice on what to use or set ups. I am going to be fishing North Tea Lake in ALgonquin shortly. I do believe there are smallies, lakers, and the odd splake. Obviously, the lakers are deep now. suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

try you tube and google and search for centre pin videos. THe two forms are centre pin and fly fishing once they are in the rivers. Spin casting just doesn't do it for me anymore...and I personally think it is a bit too easy to hook and land fish....However, some anglers may argue drifting is more deadly???
