Here's a suggestion. I don't know where you live but most small towns have a local paper. i.e. a Gazzette Start by putting an article together with a story and facts and than at the end of the article pose a question. Start by writing the story much like you did in this post but at the end of the article form a question like Does anyone know if 8 human feed wild bears is a good thing in town? The sarcasim and the question will work nicely without anyone knowing that you want to throw him in the River....someone else will. The town will be a buzz and the idiot will probably stop.

I am from there. Fishing is not that great off the piers. If you go south out of grand bend twenty minutes just before port franks theres a big old bridge that river has various fish species in it. I used to fish there when Iwas a kid. You can catch fish off the pier though its just hit or miss. There is a great fish and chip restaurant that sells fresh walleye and perch dinners on the road that takes you down to the marina in Grand Bend and sometimes you can buy the odd fish off the two fishing boats there....I think the place is called perdy's. It's good. The problem there is the rivers around there will have next to no flow right now and they sit stagnet unless there is a big rain.

I used them one day for perch on simcoe through the ice and it was a non stop feeding frenzy. they are just a pain to hook.

start hunting for bugs! Depending on how old they are Ihave raised birds with an I dropper. I would go to Co-op and get "chick feed starter" mix it with water and feed them. It sounds like these babies were mobile and a little older than that stage. They might be better off if you release them. Use google and call a rehab bird centre and they for sure will be able to help you! Always give birds water all the time.

I fished the mouth of a geogian bay river today and caught my first fish on a fly set up which was a rainbow.......AWESOME! never going back to spin casting! In fact I caught six of them. All catch and released. Anyway stupid question can you dunk your fly reel in the water while landing fish if you have to or Does it matter if they see a little water. I know centre pin reels it is a big no no.

All you have to do is buy some stock in a gas/oil company or even better a refinery and when the gas goes up so does your stock. There are several "good ones" in Sask. It's not the cure for the problem but it eases my anger.

snog thanks for the heads up on the title ...hahahaha. jdmls ..really? Well I got the neo Bare's so I guess I'll just stick with those. I thought the breathable might have been a little cooler..guess not got a love this site for tips. Snog fiddle heads are good. nothing like trout and fiddle heads. Did you sail the yak yet?

Has anyone used the waders from Canadian tire. I am looking for a good yet cheap pair of breathable waders. My neoprenes are too hot for this time of year?

I guess you could try and Cajun that fiddlehead!

They are a certain type of fern. But to the best of my knowledge they are the only type right now that is sprouting and you have to pick them from two inches or less to the ground. They have some brown husk like stuff on them you just rinse off. Look around rivers and moist gound areas. Ferns like shade so a thick canopy would be overhead in summer. They like cedar trees too. To find a "patch" of ferns look on the ground for really, really bright green ferns sprouting up, these sprouts will have shouted up( maybe 6 to 12 inches) and are a little too late to eat BUT all around them will be ferns/fiddleheads of various stages that you'll find close to the ground. They taste like a cross between a really nice asparagus and a sweet broccolli. Some fry them in a little butter low low heat and don't burn them I like them steamed BUT Do NOT overcook them.
-
In case anyone is interested the Fiddleheads are out and in full season! There is nothing quit like a meal of Rainbow trout and a side of steamed fiddleheads. All off the land!!!

I would just like a quick survey of your top five fly patterns and hook size for rainbows/steelhead including surface and sub-surface.

Here's what you have to ask yourself. IF i buy a lakefront property am I going to use it? Secondly, If you go up there are you going to have a lake that's full of fish that you want to fish for? and Lastly, what I personally have been pondering over if I get a lakefront property am I going to sleep there and fish and boat or am I going to drive up there and want to use it as home base and canoe and portage to remote back lakes to fish and camp and never be there??? Lastly, remember God isn't creating anymore lakefront property! There's was an article a couple months ago where a guy from toronto published numbers on how much it costs to have a cottage to a ratio of how much he actually was there and it worked out that he could of took his family of six away twice a year to a five star resort in St. Lucia?

Bend over and grab your ankles because waterfront taxes are a killer!

Just wondering what time you guys hit the rivers to catch your steelhead?

I bought a canoe last year. I went with a kevlar off ebay. I wanted the kevlar for partaging. The thing about cedar strip is that they are beautiful !!!!but there is maintenance every year so I am told. you have to keep the finish up on them on the inside and out. They are heavy if you portage.. and if you punch a hole in them ...you have big troubles. If I was to buy a canoe the first thing I would do is find out when Algonquin is have their rental sale. I would get up there first thing in the morning and pick out their best or least damaged canoe from last year...17 foot kevlar for 750...approx. anyway that's what I would do if I was buying a canoe again.

Thanks Roy I just sent you a pm.... and folks for the record I honestly never intended to use this site to be the sqeaky wheel it just sort of panned out that way? and I am finished with this thread.

The other day I had a problem returning some gear I had bought with Bass Pro. At the end of the day I was taken care of and am allowed to take the gear back and exchange it plus a gas/gift card. I was too quick to judge Bass Pro and I think that I probably expierenced an isolated incident. I will continue to shop at Bass Pro and tell my friends and fellow OFC ers about the outstanding customer service the Bass Pro Shop tries to diligently maintain. Thank you to Mr.Wallace the Canadian Marketing Manager for Bass Pro and everyone on this site who helped out. Ryan

Does anyone know if the ice is out Algonquin??? I wouldn't mind going for a hike up there this weekend but if the ice is out I would love to add a canoe and a portage to that aswell.
