  1. i have a portable hut im looking to setup in the beaverton area of simcoe looking for 20-35feet of water. Hoping for some jumbos and hopefully the odd whitie. I put the hut in the back of my SUV and ideally i want to drive right to the spot and setup there. Everyone seems to be driving out on the lake any idea what the best place is to drive out from to reach my destination i ussually go out from virgina towards georgina should i just go north past Duclos point towards thats general area? Thank you in advance for your help. Jason

  4. I had the same type of boat, we traded it in for our 06 Fisher. It too had some rivet issues (loose). we filled the bottom of the boat with water in the garage and did a perimeter check to see were the water was coming out from. It turned out that the water was coming out from right under the motor. We removed the motor, then one person put a heavy peice of iron on the inside of the boat while i took a sledge hammer to the outside, a couple of shots and the leak was no more! Ours was a Profisherman 17' it had a 80hp mercury. That was plenty of power, you shouldnt need to upgrade the motor on that boat, it will do 30-35mph no prob and thats plenty. Hope this helped you, Jason
  5. if thats Mr. Orbison on your stomach, than hats of to you paying tribute to a Master!!
  6. Being Maltese I Can vouch for the stew, you can also fry it. But stew with hearty potatoes peas etc. is probably your best bet. Cammilj, Nice website and company "How are you?"
  7. I called Cabelas in the U.S and spoke to a rep there. Apparently 2009 there will be a Cabelas up and running in Montreal!!!!!
  8. I think that first trout is actually a small Chinook Salmon!!
  9. Congrats, That boat can handle pretty much any situation you throw at it.I have the Identical boat with a 90 opti and we do 38mph with the factory prop ill be putting a ss prop with a higher pitch on her this year im sure well hit the majic number this year (40mph). With your motor i expect your boat to do 40-45mph no problem! The boat is incredibly wide, Lets hope you serenade her like we did last year!!! Best of luck and well see you on the water! Jason
  10. Believe that is a heck of a boat! I have a fisher hawk 170 sport 06' model and i couldnt be happier. We take it downrigging in pretty intimidating waters without worries, its just as comfortable on smaller lakes. We have a 90 opti on it and im about to purches a ss prop as well. With 3 people in the boat all our gear and downriggers we manage 37mph.im sure ill break the 40 mph mark with the new prop, and im pretty satisfied with the performance, I dont think there is a quicker wholeshot motor on the market. The boat is over 8 feet wide to boot. You should be really satisfied with the purchase, plus there is a lifetime warranty on the welds and floor!!!! Jason
  11. Ive got a 90 opti on my Fisher hawk 170 sport, and for the first season going out at least twice a week i only used a bottle and a half of opti oil (5L). It doesnt smoke at all and is quiet as a whisper, It has a 3star carb emmisions rating which is darn impressive. Im a firm believer motors of that size perhaps arnt best for trolling at low speeds, we ended up purchasing a 9.9 merc 4stroke long shaft for trolling 2006 and our oprti is a 06. Next step is purchasing a 22 pitch ss prop for the opti, for higher top end. Just take the opti out for a test run and itll make the decision for you the best hole shot on the market, on plane in mere seconds.
  12. TIME FOR A NEW SCALE BUD, YOURS LOOKS TO BE ABOUT 5lbs OFF!
  13. Fish have abnormalities regardless of the body of water!! The big "O" has its fair share of beautiful fish, and in my opinion is a world class fishery that we have right in our back door. For instance take a gander at these beauties from last year: Big King @ Night: My Bro & Pops With a descent king and a 17lb COHO what a beaut! GOOD MORNING Miss "O" Breathtaking Morning: What A Bigun!! (Notice the smile talk about proud of myself!) Were Lucky to have such a quality fishery in our back yard!!! and theres nothing wrong with taking a little one home for the BBQ These are short lived animals, im sure if you ate a twenty pound pike (20 yrs old) from the same waters that would be plenty of time for it to build up a signifiquent amount of mercury in its flesh, but a 5 lbs salmon is probably around 1 yr old, I highly doubt thats enough time to build up to much mercury in its flesh. Just my opinion, Jason!
  14. If you dont mind taking #48 that will take you to the Virginia Beach area there is an ice road there that will take you to Georgina island!! youll pass a whole wack of huts all prime perch grounds!!! Jason OUt!
  15. Hello all, I would like to post a quick question for all you ice fishing enthusiests out there. I just purchased a three person portable ice fishing hut. It doesnt come with a floor. There is four corners to it and they will all be fascened to the ice via large screws so im not too worried about it taking flight. The question i would like to ask relates to the floor. I have purchased a tarpouline that will act as a floor, I pre-cut the holes for fishing but, i dont know wheather i should put the hut directly on the snow or wheather or not I should shovel the snow out of the area im going to mount the hut. I was thinking of mounting the hut on the existing snow and screwing it to the ice this way the bottom of the hut will be beneath the snow ensuring that the wind will not get under the hut and then shoveling the inside of the hut after it has been erected. then i can lay the tarp on the ice this way my little heater will not have to work so hard since the hut will keep in the heat in and the tarp will keep the cold of the ice out while helping to keep the heat in. Do you fine folks have any advise for me? Any help you can provide me with will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Jason
  16. Thats why its key to set the hook!!!!
  17. I second that motion pigiontroller, I have a 2003 Xterra, it can trailer 5000Lbs looks way better than the pathfinder, and is one of the only vehicles that are truly suited for off road applications! It pulls my Fisher with a 90 Opti like its not even there, and the total package weight is around 3000lbs. Solid 3.3 litre V6, I would stay away from the supercharged version!!!! just my 2 cents (Figured I would finish the paragraph with a lame cliché)
