Hey Stern, I use a Humminbird "Fishin Buddy".It is a portable unit that will clamp to the gunnels of a canoe (my first use), or a dock.It clamps with an oversize "C" clamp.I use it on the ice by lying the c clamp on the ice and sliding the unit through its retaining collar and into the hole.It's certainly not as accurate or responsive as a Vex or Humminbird Ice flasher, but it does indicate when fish are in the area.Certainly low tech but I find it helpful.

you could drill a hole through the ice at midfield in Ralph Wilson Stadium right now.I think the Colts have gone fishin.

FisherM, Only ever fished there in summer.The flow is regulated by the dam maybe 1 k upstream.Not an expert on the Grand but at this time of year I'm guessing the flow is very slow.It seemed to freeze up pretty quick and people have been on it for about a week and a half.Fishmaster is the guy to talk to. It's right in front of his place the shelters are up.

Steve, You gonna be open fri.? Think the ice will hold up through the + 2 or 3 degrees coming ?

I have used a simaler product many times.Sets up quick,very roomy,very light.On warmer days the ice inside can get a little slushy but thats what boots are for.

I too was dissapointed to see the Jr.Canadian Roughriders.It's the time of year when a lot of us wear and enjoy seeing the red and white.Save the green for St.Pattys day.

I am also looking to spend a few days at Mew Lake this Feb.I will post details as I make booking.Yes it will be cold.I have winter camped in the past.With the right preparations and a little luck with the weather it is much fun as any other time of year.
