Heading to Sturgeon for a couple days - Tomorrow, and Sunday. The weather seems likes it's gonna be pretty terrible, but we're up for it. Anyone else gonna be there?

Anybody else getting tired of this rain? Was supposed to head out tomorrow, but there's supposed to be a downpour again this evening, surely ruining the creeks for tomorrow. Everytime I can find a gap between work and school, rain ruins my plans. I'm getting frustrated lol. Hopefully things clean up by Sunday...

I'd estimate 3.5 feet long, and 10 inches deep. Sorry it's not exact, but I'm not at home. Lol, I've actually got that for the flooring, since the floor is concrete.

Thanks for the tip. I was hoping to find some in a smaller quantities, though. I don't need a bed-sized sheet.

Good morning everyone - I'm in the process of putting together a room for all my gear, and one of the last touches I'm still after is a foam/sponge mat or sheet. Not styrofoam, but that softer stuff that is usually black/grey. For one of the shelves I've got, I want to nail down a piece of thick foam to place my reels on. I checked the Michael's website, but the only stuff I found was far too thin. Does anybody have a beat on where I can locate a nice, thick piece of foam/sponge? Thanks a lot for any ideas.

Welcome to the board, Xionicz. Most people are not going to give you any exact spots on where to catch rainbows. However, there are some of the more popular rivers near you. Just west of you there's the Rouge River and Duffins Creek, and east of you there's Oshawa Creek, Bomanville, Wilmot, and the Ganaraska. Again, hardly anyone will give you any exact spots, so the best thing you can do is to get out there and just fish. Explore the tributaries I mentioned and see what you can do. Good luck on opener.

I'm not sure if they carry the brand you're looking for, but at work we refer a lot of people to these guys: Langford Canoe & Kayak - they're at Yonge and 16th, in Richmond Hill. It's the southeast corner. Hope this helps.

A buddy and I had gone to the Blue Heron casino with plans of fishing off the Scugog Causeway for a bit after we were done. While we were in the casino a storm hit. The sound of the thunder nearly shook the building. I had never heard anything like it in my life. When we left and got outside it was still raining a ton, and there was thunder and lightening every few seconds. Obviously, we decided to skip on the fishing. As we drove down Highway 7, there were still people fishing off the causeway. Go figure.

What will they think of next... It looks like something my cat would play with.

I hope none of my information is incorrect - My grandfather was out hunting out near a tributary last spring. There was one house right beside a bridge where the river passed through. He had numerous signs posted saying "no fishing," "private property," etc. However, he wasn't just referring to fishing off the bank that was at the side of his house, but to fishing even from the bridge on the road. My grandfather talked to a game warden who was in the area monitoring the hunters and he said that roads and the rivers themselves are fair game, as long as you gain access to the water through a public access or from land where permission was given by the landowner. Anyone can fish from a public road, and nobody 'owns' the river that passes through their property. That being said, sometimes it's just not worth it, even if you're on the right said of the law. If the property owner is going to kick up a fuss, sometimes it's better just to move on to the next spot, or pool. Again, I hope that information is accurate.

I used to hate Lunkerville for all the reasons you guys have mentioned. Now, though, I like to watch the people on the show and see their local fishing holes. To me, it's kinda interesting. I just ignore Mike now.

I was at the Rouge too, on Sunday. There was zero visibility then, so I'd hate to see it after yeseterday's snow/rain.

I was working yesterday and I witnessed a customer spend over $1500 on two rods and two reels. It got me thinking. To me, that was a big purchase, although I'm sure to some of you it would not have seemed like such a big deal when you consider fish finders, or even boats. My questions is, what's the most any of you have spent in one day on your fishing stuff at Bass Pro, Le Baron, etc.? The most I've ever dropped in one purchase was probably around $350, although that has happened numerous, numerous times lol.

I work at Le Baron...the packs are $7.36.

Just for the board's knowledge, I e-mailed Pure Springs because I've always been interested in bass fingerlings. They quoted me a price of $2.50/fingerling (2 inch).

Good morning everyone - I'm just wondering if anyone has tried anything from the Trigger X line of soft baits. We've got them at work, but because of that foil packaging I've yet to see the bait up close - feel it, smell it, etc. I know they're relatively new, but I'm just curious if anyone has some thoughts.

Good question. I've been toying with the idea of going out myself.

Welcome to the board, Dan. I'm at York too - undergrad at Schulich. You should be able to get to the Rouge, below Highway 2 for now. There must be a bus that runs along Kingston Road. I'm no expert on steelhead, but I'm sure the guys here can help you out with your gear questions. Good luck.
