How do you test for good ice? This is what i do. I walk out on the ice where i know it is only about 2 feet of water then i drill a test hole. If the ice is less than 4" i go home. If it is over 4" i go out a little further and drill another hole. I stay away from current or other soft spots. If the ice is in poor condition or thin i drill lots of test holes. What do you do to test for good ice?

I was looking on the canadian site. the site fisherman gave me is better. It says you can run at speed while tilting the motor. I will get a remote switch if it dosnt come with one. Ok problem solved. I will order it tomorrow. thanks.

I am getting the remote model. So the tilt is not just full up or full down. Is the tilt control on the remote trottle control unit? Thanks for the help.

I see a motor i want online but i aint so sure about the options. It is a 20hp honda. It has power tilt but no trim. Can the tilt be used to tilt the motor a little for shallow water drive?

I still tow with a car when the wife needs the van. With the look of some of your ramps its a good thing you have the pathfinder.

Wow what a nice fish. Wisconsin has some nice musky. I wonder what that fish was eating? It sure has girth. Some say if you are looking for a musky that fights then fish for the smaller ones. Do the 30lb + fish put up a big fight or is it different than the small ones?

I heard a story about a boat downrigging wasaga bay a few years ago. They got hooked on nets and the boat went down with the two guys. Once in my boat i had to do an emergency stop. I went from full speed to neutral gave it one second then i went reverse half speed. I looked back and the stern just came up on the wave no problem. Had to buy new underware though. If the boat is heavy in the stern with a big motor then i can see it getting water over the back and going down.

Dont sweat it Rich. A friend of mine likes to tell a story about ice fishing. He was fishing with his uncle and his uncle was too far from one of his holes that had a bite. So my friend brought in the big brookie and put it on the ice. His uncle says my line my fish and now the brookie is on his wall. The uncle tells all that he caught that nice fish. But my friend still fishes with his uncle.

I sit here looking at the nice fish from the BOQ and i wonder how well the walleye fight. Do the 10lbers put up a fight or do they come in like a log? What do they compare too? Thanks.
