Red in particular? Or dipsies in general? We catch more than 50 percent of our fish on dipsies.

Late start to this season, the weather and mechanical issues on the boat held us back. Went down Friday for the shakedown run,out for 2 hours and got a beauty. Would have liked to catch this fish a few months from now. Headed back out sat am tough bite but went 4/4 2 salmon 2 rainbows . Bring on summer !

Only a fraction of the water comes out the pee hole, most of the water exits through the port on the back of the shaft and the exhaust. If there's steam coming out of the pee hole = too hot for sure. Instead of using the temp of the pee hole water, a better way to check that the cooling system is working is you should be able to touch the cylinder head for a couple seconds without burning your hand.
That's the way I was taught.

No problem a quick carb clean x2 (another long story) and some fresh gas will do wonders. Glad it worked out to be cheap n easy.

Thanks, just making sure before the 3 hour drive

How's the snow in the bush north of Huntsville, planning a trip for Thursday but the road in is a snowmobile trail in the winter.

Location? If near kitchener You could bring it here or I could pop buy and look at it. I don't think the motor is stalling due to impeller. Likely a fuel issue. Impeller can me done in an hour or less.

Damn wish I didn't have to work. I'm itching to get out.

Lakers love them run 5 ft off bottom

Leave the body baits at home and stock up on egb spoons and inline spinners. You need to me able to cast a mile some days with water clarity the way it is up there.
-
Enjoyable as always, thanks for taking the time.

any time you boat one on the fist outing of the year, in the first week of April is a bonus - guess I decided to pull up just a little bit too soon? - saw you heading out to PD direction, and we ended our day there. Saw a ton of hooks on the screen but nothing was moving. you must got that right on his schnozola. Sounds like it was your lucky spoon again?
Ha it was a Hail Mary . not what first comes to mind when I think of a brown trout lure , I even said to my dad " check out all the teeth marks" when I put it on.

Usually us too, ran planers flatlines and long leads all day with no success. Didn't see a rod move on any boat out there. Sometimes ya just gotta treat em like bass , put the lure infront of their nose and piss them off.Nice, I always found a more stealthy approach would catch more Browns, planer boards or further back than 50 feet if behind the boat when flatlining or rigging in shallower water.
Temps were 38-42. Mostly cooler with tiny pockets of warmer water
First King of the year!

I always have a dipsie in the water with a paddle and fly. On sat fish wouldn't touch the riggers dipsies took all 4 fish. Usually run them on a 2 setting with 150- 250 ft of line out
