  2. Agreed. Him and Clarence have been great to deal with.
  3. X2 for stowmaster with case - think the powerstow is very similar.
  4. 20 might be lumpier while than the 9.9 as bigger twin cylinders. 9.9 would also be lighter.
  5. I want to find a vented deck plate that would sit flush on the floor of the boat but be a screw in type. I see a few out there that sit up 1-3 inches but looking for more of a flush mount or very low profile. Anyone seen something like this available? Otherwise I guess i could modify a flat plate by drilling some holes and using aluminum mesh underneath etc. Thanks
  6. A lot of pump handles seem to have fuel on them and it doesn't evaporate like gasoline.
  7. Had the opportunity to stay there recently along with family. What a lovely resort and couldn't believe how good of condition all the cabins are in. Didn't get a chance to fish Pigeon much as was busy with the folks but have stayed there in past years and did well for walleye and even a few muskie. The north end has some great spots for them. Just wanted to mention it in case anyone else is looking for accommodations in the area to give Norm a call.
  8. Have you checked Costco for plans? They have decent promos if you get one through them with the big carriers.
  9. Tank is made of xlpe plastic.
  10. Interesting note on subject in this doc http://www.moellermarine.com/sites/moellermarine/files/mm182_permanent_tank_afp.pdf
  11. Next time I'm up happy to pop by in reading around appears all plastic tanks permeate fuel and only recently some manufacturers offer low perm formulas. So maybe it's just typical behaviour and it's being exaggerated in a finished storage area? Especially with the open atmospheric venting adding to the smell. Perhaps I should look at additional storage ventilation - I'd not be too happy dropping a ton of $ on an oem tank to find out it didn't really do much to help. :s
  12. Everything is tight and all new hoses had the floor up recently. It's the tank itself permeating the smell.
  13. I also notice it more during a temp change thus the venting occurring, but majority of smell appears to be in floor area so wondering if replacing the tank will help.
  14. In the GC's appears to be both drive trains. The manifold issue doesn't seem to be an issue talked about compared to the rams. Paper towel idea is a good one will deinitely do that if I'm out of gloves
  15. All, do any of you notice if your boat has a fairly strong fuel smell when stored indoors such as a garage etc or cover on for a while? Mine has one and being an 18yr old in floor plastic tank I think it's time to replace. Pressure tested OK this year and have all low perm hoses throughout so it must be the tank. If I get a new xlpe tank should I notice an improvement for a few yrs or would it start permeating again quickly? Thanks
  16. I'm at 5k so looks like it will be a while before break in:) I still see cats failing on the 14's but no reports on the 15s after they updated the part and software a few times prior to 15 launch. Diesel is now under $1.00 which is nice! Aside from wearing nitrile gloves at the pump it's really not any different than a gas aside from filling up less.
  17. Guys how are your ecodiesels running? So far so good with mine. Putting down great mpgs too. Recent trip still over 1/2 tank and includes 350kms of towing around 2000lbs.
  18. Congrats. He is a great guy and have had nothing but good dealings at bay city.
  19. Always had good luck with Goodyear marathons
  20. Most likely yes. Think of it as taking off in second gear rather than first in a car. Starts slower but goes faster once it gets moving.
  21. Less people would mean higher rpm and more speed. So 11p is definitely too small pitch.
  22. Higher pitch generally results in faster speed but lower rpms. So if your maxed out at 6100 with the 11p but can still be in the optimal 5500 to 6000 with the 12p, you could get a bit higher top end. That was my experience when I was experimenting with a 13p and 12p prop a year or two ago. Handy link about pitch and rpm http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/propeller-tutorials/rpm/
  23. Might even be slightly faster with a 12.
  24. Good to hear you got the rpms up but yes they're a little high. Any chance you could try a 12p? Might strike the right balance for your setup.
  25. If it's mounted on the 3rd from top holes I'd be surprised if the cav plate isn't close to the bottom of hull except if it's an x-longshaft motor.
