I'd be just doing small trips and trolling. Thanks for the replies guys. Wondered if portable tanks when pressurized would cause issues on the fuel system but I guess you never hear of that with smaller motors.
-
Thanks... And presume your are running a 6.6gal portable?
-
I was hoping you'd reply Mike as I know you put your yammy to good use and wondered if you ran a portable. Do you leave the vent closed when not in use and have no issues? I intend to run ethanol free gas - should the built in filter on the motor be sufficient or still consider a filter/separator? Thanks again

I see. Many sites have an option to pay/donate for an ad free experience. Is that on the table for future implementation Art? Thanks
-
Is that an option to get an ad free experience? It's slowing things down a lot and even playing video ads?!! This is a bad change especially if video ads are happening.

I'm going to run my 60hp on a portable tank this summer as I don't get much use out of the boat and don't want gas sitting in the floor tank and getting stale. Anyone run a 50 or 60 off a 6.6 gallon tank? Figure I'll get a few hrs of boating out of the tank as it pulls at most around 4.5gph WOT. Anything to consider in terms or pressure buildup to watch out for when storing etc? Thanks

I see ads are now appearing on the mobile site. Really enjoyed not having this clutter things up while browsing on a phone here. Is this temporary or a change going fwd? Thanks

I've made this mistake a few times in the past when I bought packages or separate motors until I learned to get things looked over or at minimum a good water test. Two motors cost me significant time and/or money to fix. Never again. Price can be hard to resist sometimes but it can end up in a pay less now, more later pretty quick if you run into issues.

Could also try and find a yammy 2 stroke. Thinks some run at 100:1 so less potential smoke?
-
I find the terrova pedal much easier to use than the pd. It also stows and deploys a lot better. Also find the steering more responsive. Terrova is a much nicer unit overall.

4 stroke. Quiter, no smoke and no mixing gas. Figure out what boat you want and size the motor to it especially if you want it to plane out. 2 strokes have the slight edge there being typically lighter for said hp.

Toro or Honda with aluminum deck. I own the js20 and although it's lasted 10yrs without any issues, I find it heavy(steel deck) and clunky to manoeuvre around the yard. But it is fast and powerful. Never used the bag always just the mulch and does a decent job. Imagine the Honda or Toro is even better there.

I received GB 10yr as a gift recently. Very interesting and tasty malt I'd really like to try some older bottlings from this distillery. Holds its own against a few of the younger scotches but do find it a touch spirity.
-
I presume it's the smoke smell that is the deterrent? Definitely takes some getting used to but the peated(think smoke like smell) scotches can be excellent. But there are some stellar scotches that are either lightly or not peated at all. Think a lot of folks smell a something like a lagavulin or Johnnie Walker black and get put off initially from the peat lol.

Will have to try sometime. A few greats that are reasonable that come to mind are: Laphroaig quarter cask Glenfiddich 15 solera Highland Park 12 Bowmore 12 Cragganmore 12 With rising prices it's hard not to explore Bourbon. Excellent product and typically at least half the price of Scotch.
-
Prices seem to be ever increasing too I haven't found many Canadian whiskies that Ive enjoyed neat. Bourbons on the other hand are excellent. Woodford Reserve double oaked, blantons, four roses single barrel are fantastic.
-
Good taste! Haven't tried any of those but the Balvenie would be great to try. Have also heard good things about the Glendronach 15yr and 21 too. A few recent ones I've tried that were great: Glencadam 10 Craigellachie 17 Laphroaig Quarter Cask Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban

Why not revive an old thread. Prices have gone up but still some stellar malts available in Ontario. Curious what your favorites are?
-
Personal preference. Tend to like the features more on others not to mention the looks if that matters. I've owned a Merc too (though was a yammy powerhead) and had 0 issues. Agree most are same reliability these days. Don't liked how your locked into buying a Merc with many of the brands now w/o paying up charge.
-
Going new I'd be looking at alumacraft or starcraft. Don't like how your limited to motor options with the Brunswick fleet. Would take a Yamaha or Suzuki over a Merc.
-
Sounds like a great time buddy!

Shimano really has it out for Lefty's. Been wanting a left hand tekota for years....Glad okuma came to the rescue with some slick models.
-
Agreed. This keeps coming up and the hot button topics seem to be increasing. What is the harm in creating a separate section for those threads? In addition, if something goes sideways on the general section just move it over there too.
-
Why don't the mods create a politics/hot button topic sub section of the general forum?
-
Agreed. This forum would be a much better place without those threads...at least a separate section for them would be greatly appreciated.
