  1. Just because you CAN do something it doesn't always make it right. I think that for the most part I agree with TangledLines. Now that you know the situation do you really feel that you want to invade someone elses space and privicy. If you saw another boat fishing on a lake would you move in close enough to ruin their enjoyment? I'll bet you wouldn't! It's called respect and I think that from reading many of your posts that respect is something you appreciate and value.
  2. Glad it worked out OK for you and you were able to trailer your boat. Hope the problems aren't anything serious! Nice of you to offer to help others, I always do, you just never know when you are going to need a hand.
  3. Nice fish!
  4. Sue decided she wants the inside of our house repainted, I've been working at it but have to admit I'm a much better cook than I am a painter. I would be willing to trade a weekend for two at our place with all food supplied, (just look at me and you'll know we eat well LOL) boat, motor, I'll even take you out if you would prefer. You'll have to bring your own booze. Accomodations are fairly comfortable; guest room, family room with fire place, 4 pc. bath, walk out to the lake, cable TV. I will supply all the paint (good quality) and materials, ladders, drop cloths rollers etc.. I am only guessing but I think someone that knows what they are doing could do it in two days but it might take three. If it takes more than three days we'll add extra days of fishing to compensate. Location: Lindsay Work can be done on weekends or evenings (or week days if you are available) Work must be compleated within the next three weeks: Sue is fussy but not unreasonable but we do expect a good job. Fishing dates to be arranged for any time this spring, summer, fall, we'll do our best to accomodate you. Let me know if you are interested.
  5. Hope you have a super birthday and get some fishing in.
  6. Glad you finally decided to join; welcome! Can't help you much with the float fishing other than to suggest you head out to where there are people float fishing, see what they are using and ask questions. You will find that most of them are quite happy to share their passion with anyone who wants to learn.
  7. Well, you can sit while ice fishing but I don't think you are going to find too many places to fish from shore just yet unless you want to go for some rainbows. You could check out Bronte Creek, or some of the other places along the lake shore.
  8. Well, here is my ride, it's nothing fancy and it is getting up there in years but it gets me out on the lake and back when I want to go. I'd like to buy something with a full windshield but can't afford a new one right now. Perhaps if I win the Super Seven or something but for now this will just have to do. I mostly fish for walleye but will fish for anything, as long as I am fishing I'm happy! Andy looks a little ticked off here because he just wants to fish, the only problem I have with him is if I try to throw anything back, he wants to retrieve it. Andy just doesn't believe in catch and release LOL.
  9. Gerritt, I have a Danforth Anchor that I am not using right now (I will be using it later in the summer) but if you wanted to borrow it and try it for a couple of months you would be welcome to use it. I only use the navy anchor in the spring and early summer as most of my fishing is drift fishing so I only need it for safety reasons. Later in the summer I like to anchor just off the weed beds and cast so I switch over to the Danforth.
  10. Im'm not much of a photographer but as you can see, a split second slower and the damage could have been a lot worse. The suspension is shot so it's all going to have to be replaced.
  11. Thanks for all the replies and advice, very much appreciated! Lew, glad you got through it OK.
  12. Well, Simco would be a good choice, Cooks Bay, even if you don't have an auger there will be lots of holes drilled and you should be able to get some good perch and pike action.
  13. Terry, that said exactly what I think, I just couldn't have explained it in such nice words!
  14. You are a "hunting and fishing guide in Northern BC and Sask. and you are spending your winter here? What are you thinking????????? Doesn't matter, you love fishing, you're in! Welcome!
  15. Ok, you'll fit right in LOL! In fact I did have my Aqua-View camera in the back. That was the second thing I checked out after I made sure I was still intact!
  16. Well LOL, if you are sitting in a boat without a in your hand, you'll look STUPID LOL. Don't worry, we have a cure for that, someone will hand you a rod!
  17. Well, I'm really sorry for your luck but we already have our limit of musky fishermen here, you'll have to stand in line and wait for an opening...... Oh what the heck, guess there is always room for one more. Welcome!
  18. Steve, it was lower than they thought it was going to be, $5400.00 which isn't bad considering the cost of parts today. Thanks Wayne! Yes, he was charged with (I'm not sure what the exact terminology was) running a red light The officer stated there was no fault on my part. Cranks ; I do have a "loss of use" thing on my policy but wouldn't his company have to come good for the cost of renting me another car?
  19. Welcome to the board! Oh, and to answer your question "Is this sport gonna be as addictive as golf has been for me, and how will iknow when i wil lneed to go to "fishermens anonymous" or some kind of treatment centre for fishing addicts? LOL" Well, lets see; you have already figured out that you can fish on a golf course but you can't golf in a fishing hole. Fisher(persons) anonymous is not like any other "anonymous" group out there, we like being addicted, if you try to quit, we'll take you fishing and have some fun until you come to your senses. Our success rate is better than any other support group since we only have one step to worry about, the one from the dock into the boat, once you are in the boat, nothing else matters! Anyway, sit back, relax, and enjoy, you have just become a member of a pretty good family!
  20. Thanks for all the offers of help . Looks like everything is going as it should. I'm a little stiff and sore today but then I'm stiff and sore lots of days (that's how I know I'm still alive when I wake up in the mornings LOL). My insurance company has been fantastic, repairs are already approved, no after market parts to be used, no body repairs, if it's damaged, replace it and a full warranty on the repairs. The shop is a Nissan approved shop and approved by my insurance company so I guess they must be good. Since it is a lease, if I am not happy with it, I can always walk away from the lease, it's up in 7 months anyway. My insurance company has waived my deductable ( I was sort of surprised that they even would have a choice) and made arrangements for a rental for me until my car is fixed. I'm a little new at this so how does this work? My insurance company seems to be paying for everything, do they then go after the other guy's insurance company? I haven't asked them yet but will my rates likely go up because of this? Heck, first time in 48 years of driving I have ever been in an accident, haven't even had a parking ticket in over 30 years. Boy, I never thought I could come up with so many questions in one day; maybe I hit my head or something LOL.
  21. Good of you to join us Anton. Can't help you much with the fishing in the GTA but if you ever decide you want to try fishing in the Kawarthas give me a shout.
  22. We use to run open water back in the late 60's early 70's when going ice fishing in the spring on machines with a lot less power than those things have. Mind you we only ran short stretches, 40-50'. We were running old Artic Cats, Snow Crusers, SkiDoos, MotoSkis, actually anything that we could get to run. As long as you keep it pinned and your weight back you'd be amazed, you can even make gradual turns. So many lives would be saved every year if the people that do go through the ice just knew what to do.
  23. Cliff, I really liked what I had and it is only two years old. If it can be fixed properly I'd be happy with that. Bernie: It's a 2006 Nissan X-Trail Thanks Dave! There are no bad ones in City of Kawartha Lakes any way LOL. Wayne, Guess silver isn't a good colour, might go with bright red next time! Lew, that is what he claims and the roads were covered in slush but he sure must have been sliding fast, he ended up stoping at least 5 van lengths from where he hit me so he was no where close to stopping. As for being sore and stiff, well I guess I'll just have to see what tomorrow brings. I'd pour a shot of brandy or something but don't have any in the house so I think I'll just climb into a hot bath with a nice cup of tea and see if Sue feels sorry enough for me to give me a back rub LOL.
  24. WTG Joey! Nice to see someone win a good prize. BTW, I have all the charts and stuff so if you need anything uploaded.......
  25. I bought one two years ago (not auto inflating though) and I love it, I find it so comfortable that I often forget that I even have it on. BTW, I checked with the Coast Guard, Auto inflating ones HAVE to be worn to be legal, the ones like I have (you have to pull the cord) DO NOT have to be worn to be legal (don't ask me why but that is what they said! I always wear mine now when I am out in the boat anyway though.
