Hello All, I have a friend who is driving all the way from Alberta in a trailer with his boat. He is brining it here to go to a lake up north for two weeks. However before that he is going to be in St.Catherines for a week visiting family and has said that he would like to take his boat out in the Niagara River or Lake Ontario. This boat has no downriggers. Is there any option for us to chase some Salmon and/rainbow at either of these locations? I am not looking for "your spot" just some advice. Are Dipsey and Jet divers effective this time of year? Where could we launch from? Troll just spoons? etc. I know many of you do very well on these waters and also dont want to give away any derby secrets. Feel free to PM me. Any help would be appreciated, this is a friend who has done a lot for me in our history and I would love to get him into some Ontario fish! Cheers.

If there was a schedule, someone would provide it.....but there isnt. Once we get some cold nights and cold rains just start showing up.

Cheers man! Nothing wrong with that. Nice fishing.

Always enjoy your reports man......well done. I do have to mention though that I hope you were keeping that Brown in that picture. Because of the way you were holding it there it very likely wont live anyway. Trout are not as "durable" as bass so you have to take extra precautions with them in order to preserve the fishery. Never the less, I know you are an experieced fishermen and probably know this so dont take this the wrong way. Just want my kids (unborn) to have strong fisheries as well! Cheers and great job!

I agree with everything you have said Marko except for the size thing. How is Bargnani not big enough at 7'1" and 280lbs but Bosh is at 6'10" 250lbs?? Confused. I actually think that Bargs one on one Defense is VERY underrated. He does need to get better on help D for sure. As for the roster....assuming Indiana doesnt match the Jack contract offer sheet, Delfino is back and Rasho is also back (this is what I assume will happen) then the biggest hole is the backup SF position. George is not good enough to play major minutes at that spot. Either way, this team will have the best starting 5 in a long time as well as a solid bench if Derozan can contribute (based on 2 summer league games he should show flashes). Anyway, I am pumped about the moves this offseason and outside of Cle, Orl, Bos I dont think that there is a 4th team that is clearly better then the raps in the east. It will come down to injuries and coaching. Cudos for starting a raps topic....I hate how there are always leafs ones and never Raptors.

Hello fellow OFC'ers. Yesterday all of a sudden I have to click on each reply to a post in order to read it. WHY? When I click on a post, it shows only the initial one and at the bottom it has links to all of the replies. THis is obviously a Pain in the @$$. Did I do something here?? How do I fix this? Thanks all!

Portable fish finder w/ suction cup transducer
rock34 replied to rock34's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Johnny. Im not sure that I fully understand how you clamp it into the canoe with a "T" shape but I am going to have to work something out for sure. Thanks for the tips. -
While the title pretty much says it all. I was thinking about it and on most canoes if you simply suction cup to the side of the canoe you wont get a clear up and down picture of whats below. I am sure someone on this board has come up with a solution and I would love to hear it because I am off on a Canoe tip in a few weeks and would love to bring my hummingbird with me Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks for all of the advice guys. Is there a specific site that you would recomend?? I like the idea of the site on the big island but obviously on a map it is impossible to tell if its any good.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice guys!! I actually got a TOPO from Anglersatlas.com Is that the same one you have? It should be helpful I hope. I also have a portable fish finder that I hope to bring. I have never used one in a canoe before. How do I need to fasten it do you think?

Hello all! I am taking my first trip ever into Algonquin park in about three weeks. I am heading out from access point #17 and canoeing up to Booth Lake, where I plan on staying for 5 nights. Has anyone ever been there? I have a few questions for an Algonquin Rookie. How is the fishing in Booth Lake? Can I possibly find a few Lake Trout this time of year? What lures should I bring? Is there any particularly good campsites on Booth? Any food ideas? I know i have to hang it from a tree at night so that doesnt really lend itself to brining a cooler. Anyway, any feedback would be awesome!

Awsome report Sinker!! I am visiting a friend in Chilliwak this summer and we are looking at booking a charter for Sturgeon. I take it you would recommend this company? What was the name? Thanks again for the awsome report. Cheers.

Hey gang, was reviewing the regs this morning preparing for fishing season and making sure I know everything that I need to. When doing so I realized that Carp are not included anywhere. Are there any regs for Carp? or can you just fish them anywhere, anytime? I have not fished for Carp since I was a kid so I have n clue, just an observation. Cheers!

Thanks...Early it is! It actually looks like the rain may hold off for the whole day. Osmond.....nice to know I am not alone. I have fished with my centerpin like 8 times now without a fish biting. I still call the reel new because it has never truly been used

Hey gang, As you have read, I am the guy who continues to float fish without ever getting a bite. The only way to fix that is KEEP trying right? So I want to head out tomorrow morning, solo unfortunately. Can anyone tell me if the Credit conditions are worth the trip (hour and a half?) or if you have other suggestions just reply or PM me. Im not afraid of a long drive if it will improve my odds thats for sure. Thanks and when I get that first one, trust me, the picture will be posted!

Conestogo College in Kitchener has a Wilderness training continuing ed class. At the end of the class, the students actually go into the wilderness (Parry Sounds area) for a night with linited items and must set up camp (not within 150 meters of another class member). I know a few people who have done it and loved it. Pretty cool anyway.

Thanks for all of the great feedback guys. I am really about 90% self taught and 10% internet taught at this point....lol I guess the key is to just keep trying, which I clearly was going to do anyway Like I said, if ever looking for a partner I would appreciate the opportunity to fish with any one of you! Cheers.

Thanks for the advice guys..... Just so you know, my struggles have included many Lake O Tribs. Including the one I fished on Saturday with no luck. Do you guys think that time of day plays a factor? Is morning and evening always better like other types of fishing? I have been led to believe that is not the case for the fish but if you want to get to a pool that has any fish left then it is a must to get their first.

Wow....I dream of a day like that! Congrats and GREAT work guys.

Hey guys.....I need some serious help! I need to start this little rant by mentioning that I am a VERY avid fisherman. I have fished all over Canada and put hundreds of hours in every year on the water. Float fishing is one type of fishing that I have never tried until last year (as well as fly fishing but that is a different story) Here is my story of float fishing. I started float fishing about this time last year. I heard there was a good bite on at the Geen and thought that I would give it a try. So I headed there with no waders, my spinning reel and a 7ft rod. Believe it or not I actually hooked up about a 6lb bow but lost it. So that was it, I was hooked to float fishing. I went out and bought some waders, a new rod and a float reel. Througout the spring last year and the fall I went out probably 8-10 times to many different rivers. I went with guys that were expereinced as well as some others who were rookies much like myself. I never had another hook up all year. I guess this rant has come to the fore front because Saturday I made my first outing of the season. I was on the water for 5 hours in what seemed like perfect conditions to me, again without a sniff of a fish. Now having spent anywhere between 80-100 hrs float fishing with NO hook ups I have to believe that I am doing something wrong. At the same time I did manage to head out with a guy who had tonnes of experience and he said I was doing everything correctly. This is what I believe it comes down to, I dont know how to read conditions. I dont know when the fish will be there, where they will be holding, how to get them to strike I guess. This is not something that I am going to be taught over a discussion forum as it comes with experience. If there is anyone looking for a partner at any point please PM me. I live in Waterloo but have no problem driving a few hours for fishing, even if it means leaving at 3am to be there on time, I love the sport. Thanks for listening to my rant. I will by no means stop tyring and teaching myself. I know one day all of these hours on the water will pay off. Cheers!

I forgot to say thanks for the info! I really appreciate it.

Crap..... Oh well. I guess I will wait for another weekend at this point then. Too bad.

Hey gang! I am curious if the Credit is open water and fishable right now. Im thinking about heading there on Sunday but I would prefer not to drive the couple of hours to find it high and unfishable. Not looking for fishing advice, just conditions! Thanks guys.

rock34 replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
The childrens lunch charity that you mentioned in #1 is Nutrition For Learning (NFL)
