  1. They are much easier to self rescue when you bail overboard. :D

There are a bunch of ways to rig the transducers.

1/ Using a scupper mount and using one of the scupper holes

    http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Paddlesports/

2/ Using a transducer mounting arm like this one that just connects onto a Ram mount.

3/ either epoxy or silicone to the inside of the hull.

You need to be careful not to get air bubbles in the adhesive or this will not work.

You also need to clean the hull really well or it will just pop off it's mount.

If I end up getting a second transducer for my Garmin FF I will epoxy mount if not I have a plan to use my crate and clamp my portable transducer mount to it.

I will slide it up through the scupper hole into the clamp and just tighten it down.

  2. I'm heading to Florida in February for 6 weeks and am going to pick up a Yak as they are much cheaper down South and it will give me another way to get out fishing while there.

So for those of you with fishing kayaks, what you got?

What do you like about your yak?

What don't you like about it?

The yak I'm looking at getting is a 2008 Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120.

These yaks are no longer in production under the Wilderness Systems name but are being made by a subsidiary of them and marketed under different brands (kind of like the Rapala ice augers).

The version I like is sold by Dick's Sporting Goods and is a pretty good deal @ $549.

The current version of Widerness' Tarpon 120 is in the $1,000 range. :o

While I would like one of those wicked Hobie PA 12's or 14's I'm not independently wealthy and I'm getting too old to lift a #100 kayak onto my roof. old_man-3569.gif

This is the yak I'm looking at picking up.

I've already ordered up a bunch of accessories for which ever yak I end up with and will be taking my tools with me to do a little customization before she hits the water. Rod holders, fish finder mounts, custom crate, anchor and anchor trolley etc.

So tell me what you got, what upgrades have you done. :D

  3. What I don't like about Reimer is that he's a flailer!!!

I hate goalies that look like they're having a seizure when things get intense.

Instead of rolling around on the ice for 5 seconds after you make a stop, get yer butt back up on your skates!!!!

It's pretty simple, go down, get up.

Bernier does this. Goes down and pops back up to his skates.

Flailers don't cover much of the net while they're doing the worm on the ice. :whistling:

  4. I watched the Sens game this afternoon and had high hopes.

I wasn't disappointed as the Sens looked good and didn't let the opposition score for the whole first minute and sixteen seconds of the game!!! :tease::tease::tease:

They would keep up the terrific play for the rest of the game and only let the Sharks score 5 goals. :good::good:

On a more sour note the Sens did manage to score 2 goals. :(

Silly Sens, wins are for Leafs!!!!!! :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

  5. Yep, it's that time of year North of 60* when the boat gets put away for the winter. :(

I was hoping to get one more trip in but the bottom fell out of the thermometer today and the open water season came to a screaming halt. Current temp is -10 and dropping and the smaller lakes in town are icing up already. Should be drilling holes in a couple of weeks though. :good:

Gives me just enough time to get my ice gear in order. :whistling:

  6. $10 extra to watch the jets? Can't you just get Game Center and live stream any game you want? What about center ice? Is that available? Personally I'd say no loss to any Winnipeg games.... The franchise has lost it's luster already for me, they need to simply win.

Game Center I think doesn't black out any games so maybe I will go with it.

Center Ice does blackout regional games ie Those shown on Leafs TV. :(

Center Ice blacks out games in my local viewing area.

    I will not be able to see TSN-JETS, SNET-W, SNET-CGY or SNET-EDM.

All nationally televised games on the big networks BC, NBC, NBC Sports Network, NHL Network, RDS and TSN are also blacked out. :(

  7. You plowing on gravel?

I had a plow on my Bronco and even sitting it high off the grade I still pushed a lot of our driveways gravel into the ditch. :wallbash:

Went to a snow blower after that.

The new plows there is virtually no fiddling around to install and remove them.

Some you just drive up to them and they click in place, to remove just pull a pin and back up.

Snowblowers just shoot the gravel all over the yard.

    How big is your tractor?

I think you would want a pretty decent sized one to run a blower on.

I know the 12 or 13 hp one we had wouldn't do it.

  8. I3-4 years isn't too bad.

I got 6 years out of my last pair of Simms G3 Guide waders.

Sent them in and they fixed 'em up and they are backups now.

I have a new pair of G4 Guide waders that get the most use.

  9. Some good news and some bad.

There was lots of news at Leafs practice Thursday morning. Rookie defenceman Morgan Rielly was told prior to practice that he had made the team and will be sticking around following his ninth game tomorrow night in Columbus. Rielly has played well in eight games recording four assists.

The news wasn’t as good for Joffrey Lupul as the forward took a Paul Ranger shot off his foot, departed practice and went for x-rays. The team announced that Lupul has a bruised foot and is considered day-to-day. The Leafs recalled Josh Leivo from the Toronto Marlies.

Head coach Randy Carlyle also told the media that Frazer McLaren will be available for Friday’s game.

As for updates on Mark Fraser and Nikolai Kulemin they both skated before practice and are expected to make the road trip next week to Western Canada but they might not be ready to play at that point.
