  1. Good Luck looks like some nice weather. I know Doug is up there right now enjoying it. I am jealous yes.....
  2. Nice one lokk forward to the pics
  3. Yeah I gave a quick look at the depth map and it is basically a large bowl that goes down I think to approx 40 metres in the middle.
  4. Looks like they hooked you up. Let us know how it went. Tight Lines
  5. You may want to check out this site and do some searching/posting. http://www.network54.com/Forum/352882/ Can't help about Mew or Lake of Two Rivers particularly as I haven't been but I would say Lakers and some specks. Let us know how you do.
  6. Thanks dOUG and PB that is good news on the rates. I wondered why it would be so high. The company also offers Global Express Mail which I think is a service of the USPS. I will confirm. Thanks for the help on this. Nemo
  7. Just FYI if you buy on VISA here is how they convert. Take the USD X 1.54 = CAD amount then add 2.5% fee for service. So $59.95 USD X 1.54 = $92.32 plus 2.5 % = $94.63 CAD..... It is on CIBC's website http://www.cibc.com/ca/faq/credit-cards.html#q6
  8. I am trying to purchase some gear from the US and they offer shipping from UPS. The total value is approx $59.00 USD. When converted to CAD it is approx $90.00. I ran a quote on UPS and their cheapest is $13.00 and when I contacted them they said the customs fees would be 19 -20 CAD on top. Is it cheaper by US Mail or does any one have any other tips suggestions. Thanks in advance Nemo
  9. Two thumbs up on that Rick every once and a while everyone needs some help. Good thing you were there to help out. Kudos
  10. Lot's of good spots to choose from. I have had luck with Bass in Soyers. There is also supposed to be some nice trout and pickerel in there as well. What month are you going to be up? You can also access muskie as well in Kashag and Grass lakes. Try off Inglodsby for Muskie and around Sugar Island for Bass and Pickerel. Bring your credit card to pay for the gas. There's tons of spots on the chain.
  11. Now that's a show I would watch. Fishin and some adventure stuff. Also I would put some focus on the getting there and the gear. And for gear I mean the stuff like canoes/tents ATV's and stuff you rigged up on your own. Not everyone fishes tourneys in a $50,000 bass boat every weekend. Not that there is anything wrong with that OK. This concept has some variety and allows you to mix it and let the viewers see places they can get to on their own. The video online and the podcast definite musts and will help you to promote the show as well also I could watch them at work haha ha. I can't wait to see the APP episode. Good Luck
  12. That picture is a beaut. Your Gramps looks like a real character. Bet he could tell a tale or two. Kudos on the Anniversary. Sorry 'bout your loss. My respects Nemo
  13. Are we talking cedar canvas or cedar epoxy? Cedar epoxy is very strong. I built a 16 foot prospector about 20 years ago and it has had motors on it and has been hauled all over Algonquin. I did a major overhaul last year and it looks like new. 45 pounds ....maybe (NOT if it is fiberglass) depends on the specs. What do they want for it and how many has the guy built. If you want to discuss details PM me. The Bear Mountain site rocks. The guys there are experts on the build foru
  14. Great Report. Thanks for posting. Great to see your Dad get in like that. He's a trooper. When I am that age I hope I can hit the Park and Spring Fish for Specks and Lakers. I eagerly await your next offering. Thanks
  15. Cotter pins, pull cord rope, plug wrench, leatherman...
  16. Somebody says "Relax I'm a professional".....LOL "The bite was really hot last week." "Who told you that the system would do that?" "You scheduled your fishing trip for what week" "Do you have a minute I need to talk to you privately"
  17. Thanks for the update here is a pic that is being displayed on the webcam from Dorset's - Mountain Trout House Marina on Kawagama. It can be seen live here http://www.2ontario.com/webcam/home.asp
  18. Check this site out. http://www.banff-fishing.com/
  19. Terry is right. You can see pretty well the whole province from the MODIS images if it is sunny. The latest pics are a week old. I would check some APP specific sites for more up to date info. The latest from Algonquin Adventure Site Dated April 16, 2007 "Well today seemed to be the day for action here. When I went to work this morning I noticed that Lemke Lake(end of Barron Canyon rd) was more than 2/3 covered like I had previously said but rather closer to 3/4 covered with ice...oh well I thought. Today we got heavy rain all day instead of the snow that you Ottawa guys got just a couple hours down the road and it must have been exactly what mother nature had ordered, because when I came home this evening Lemke Lake is wide open!...little bit of ice around the south west end but for all intensive purposes it is open! I will check some other lakes tommorrow closer to the parkline or as I said before I may drive into Grand to check. I will post any results but I would say rest assured it is on its way out in this area in plenty of time for the opener."
  20. Yep good deal if the wood is all hardwood and dry.
  21. It's an illusion. It is usually observed when you are in your ice hut and the ice melts. You think the ice is sinking but it is actually the weight of your body pushing the ice down. Once you slip off the ice and start to sink in the water you realize "hey that ice just floated back to the top" This phenomenon usually observed from below....few written accounts just hearsay and speculation
  22. Yep I've got one and so far so good. Can't lose for that money.
  23. oops sorry missed the canoe/portage section of your post. I would suggest a canoe pack. Say 100L volume. Nice one is the Woods Mason as it is fairly cheap. There are lots of hight tech ones but I am not a fan. As for weight the canoe packs really weigh nothing.
