  1. If you want a closed eye or twisted eye end spinnerbait, why don't you just buy that style instead of the r-bend or open eye spinnerbait? I know they are harder to find, but I picked up some nice ones at the tackle swap last year in Ancaster. They worked great on pike this spring with a wire leader. Chris.
  2. Just wanted to congratulate the Hamilton bassmaster club on a great tackle swap today at the Ancaster fairgrounds. Lots of people, great vendors, and a great day to get out and buy some tackle and talk fishing. The club also did a great job in raising money for a young boy. If you missed it, put it on your calendar for next year. Thanks Chris.
  3. Great tackle swap, great people and some great deal on tackle. Adding the second room really increased the amount of tackle and deals to be found, as a dealer who does most of the tackle swaps in south western ontario this is getting better and better every year. chris.
  4. Hello everyone, I will have 3 tables there this year with lots of stuff for sale, rapala's, berkley gulp and powerbait, zoom plastics, some musky baits, home made spinnerbaits, and a few reels both new and used, and a bunch of rain jackets-some gore-tex. Hope to see everyone there. Thanks chris.
  5. If you guys are looking for tackle deals I suggest you go to your local tackle swaps. I just went to one in London last weekend and there were some great deals to be had on both used and new baits, as well as rods and reels. I believe there is one coming up in April in Hamilton.
  6. I am with you Rich, the 3/4oz. and heavier closed eye spinnerbaits I make seem to run straight, and work well when burned for smallies on lake st.clair and erie. chris.
  7. Hello guys, I have made spinnerbaits for years, and when I sell them at tackle swaps, people buy the closed eye 1/2 oz. models the most. So much so that I have stopped making the open r-bend style. Last year people started asking me for 3/4-1oz. models more, but I would say 1/2 oz. is the most popular size, and white skirts with silver blades is the most asked for colour combo. Thanks chris.
  8. Hi Luke, I haven't caught that many 6-7lb. fish but the higher gear ratio has handled 5lb. fish pretty well. Most of the time you don't have much line out of your reel, and most people flip with heavy braid 50-65lb. or heavy flurocarbon 20-25lb. They also use heavy action flipping sticks with a great deal of backbone and not much tip flex. Just make sure your drag is cranked tight. chris.
  9. Hello Luke, I think you might want to look at a high speed reel for flipping or pitching. You want to be able to pick up the slack line as quickly as possible. I use a 7:1 ratio reel for both applications. If you can wait you can get a great deal on a reel at the Hamilton fishing swap meet, I believe it is in April and there is a tonne of bass guys there selling mostly bass tackle. Hope this helps, chris.
  10. Can't seem to get the live stream to work for me, any updates on leaders, weights, big fish? Thanks chris.
  11. The lcx-19c is a great unit just outdated, I have one and love it but have been told once it goes down lowrance will not fix it. I also have an elite 5 on the front of my boat and love it, my friend has the hds 5 and I think the elite 5 is a very comparible unit, good luck with your research and purpose. I went to Woodstock to angling outfitters to buy my units and they were very knowledable about the various units.
  12. Wow, what a beautiful machine, welcome to the ranger family, love the colours.
  13. I know I am down the line a bit but I am also interested in this canoe if the others ahead of me don't want it, thanks chris.
