  1. You decided you want a boat, so take the time to do some homework , make a wish list and window shop. Take a year if need be, until 'you' are happy with your choice.

    Took me over a year to get what I was looking for. Not just for me, but my family as well.

  2. You did good M/S :clapping: What you did was not easy, and the result was positive. that is all that matters.

    Working with the handicapped or developmentally challenged can be hard. Patience is everything. It's alright if a day doesn't go right. Nothing in life goes completely to plan anyway. As long as you can keep an outing fairly simple, without too much built into the day's agenda, you will usually do O.K. Be prepared to change gears and have a Plan B when things don't pan out, or if the boy loses interest/fish aren't biting/ thunderstorm, etc... . Those are also good planning tips for any outing involving kids(and some adults :P ).

    As a former scouter, I used to get involved in the SYDs program, to make scouting available to disabled youth. I think the practice is still in place. Just a bit harder to find suitable leaders to provide the 1 on 1 mentoring that is so important. The successes and satisfaction far outweigh any effort involved.

    Again, :worthy::worthy::worthy:

  3. To quote an old sweat ( veteran of WW I ) I once knew. "The flag is no more than a rag on a pole. Shot through, soiled, worn and bloodied. But men have fought and died for that flag and all it represents, and to this day, dutifully offer there loyalty to all that it represents ( whether the Maple Leaf or the Ensign)."

    It may be only a rag on a pole, but it is mine to hold and cherish. Mine to uphold and respect. Today, we are still fortunate to have men and women in this country who would give up there lives for it. Who cares how we display or wear it as long as we hold it dear.

  4. There have been numerous articles on this subject the past few years. Much depends on the composition of the specific plastic. Some do not break down. Some do not digest and can be harmful. Rates of decay have varied from a few years to a hundred. Results may depend upon who funded the research (like that has never been a factor before :rolleyes: ). Some plastics actually absorb water and double in size. Etc........

  5. With some species, water condition affects flavour. There is a big difference between cold water and warm water cats. I won't eat Niagara cats once the waters warm. Muddy taste from warm muddy waters. Warm water bass are not the same in taste as those up North, but not as pronounced.

  6. Welcome. And what's the address of that cottage again :P:lol:

    Lots of helpful info and unusual characters here. Don't worry about the Dawg. He just barks a lot ( I think the Mrs pulled his fangs ages back :lol: )

  7. I enjoyed your pictures. Every year I look at everybody's pictures and wish that I would be there with everybody. It looks like a good time.

    Do you have a Ford Freestar and if so what do you tow with it? I have a 16 ft crestliner with a 40hp and does not weigh over 2000# but the back end almost rides the back wheels. Do you have any special shocks or information that you have done to your van. Thanks. E-Mail me if you can help me.

    Again, enjoyed the pictures.

    Bob

    I have an 04 Freestar, towing a 16 1/2 Legend. The vehicle has the towing package and runs just fine until I start loading gear in the boat, then the van gets arse heavy.
