We headed to Chuck Lake Y. En route, on the way in, Colin and I both paused in the canoe and we tilted our heads back, inhaling through our nostrils. We could smell wood burning, most likely a campfire. Chuck's truck wasn't parked where we had started paddling, but maybe he came in through another route? Well, Chuck wasn't there and Colin took advantage and caught 2 good ones.

I love this time of year. When I can do it, after enduring a long winter, it always feels great to get back in the canoe and sleep in the tent. It feels like the official changing of the season. I don't feel like writing much but I'll post some pictures. We weren't in APP, but I think the guys heading in there this weekend will do well. Hopefully the black flies don't get moving.

I fish a different Kawartha lake, but the pattern should be the same for early season. Drop back to the first bays below the fast water spawning areas and throw a medium sized, suspending minnow bait. Don't rip it, just pull it and pause, and let it hang there for awhile. 4 to 8 FOW

If you fish it regularly, and have been for 20 years, you'd know best. The MNR in Minden is a skeleton crew. You could call them, and hope for the best. If you do see weird, abnormal moss (algae) in the Drag R, somebody is adding nutrients upstream. The MOE would likely have more teeth than the MNR if that's the case.

Borgerman is good. He's got a head start, but if I paddle fast I'm gonna catch up and see him tomorrow. Drive in, but I'd go back to Stinger in a heartbeat. I loved it. I just wish the camp would have ended up in different hands, Jason's hands to be specific, lol.
