New MinnKota Powerdrive V2 pedal
Fishn Technishn replied to captpierre's topic in General Discussion
Had this problem a few years ago. Decided it was time to upgrade to Ipilot. WOW!!! SO GLAD I DID!!! It is truly REVOLUTIONARY! Feels like you have been set free! Can control the Minnkota from anywhere within range. Even the dock! Grandkids LOVE Poppa's "Magic boat!! I can have the little ones in the boat and I can "tell" the boat to turn left/go straight /stop etc. Very entertaining at least for me! Best option though is the ANCHOR button! Keeps u on spot as long as you have enough power to overcome wind or current. Mike -
Fishfinder QUICK release Mount
Fishn Technishn replied to Fishn Technishn's topic in General Discussion
THANKS, that is the kind of answer I am looking for. Mike -
Got a new FF Lowrance Elite 7HDI. Gonna mount it on the dash to the right of the steering console. Issue is I will be taking it off & on. Anyone have an Elite 7 that they used some kind of Quick release mount? Been looking at the RAM ones and they have an adapter that snaps right in on the Elite 5 but the Elite 7 uses a gimbal type bracket mount! Thanks, Mike

Anyone using a propeller lock that works? Had a friend go to the lake for some fishing and came out in the morning and his new prop was GONE! Mike

Fishing in Mexican Riviera?
Fishn Technishn replied to Fishn Technishn's topic in General Discussion
THANK YOU! For all the responses. Looks like I will have to make up my mind what to fish for. NOT my idea to go there, just happens that is where the couple chose and we ARE going! Anyone got opinions on a travel rod? Don't think my Musky gear will fit in my suitcase!!LOL Mike -
Going to Playa Del Carmen area in May for nephew's wedding. Any good fishing trips/advice for the area? I am not one to lay about the beach, would rather fish and have never been to the area. Would it be worth my time to pack a travel rod and even fish from shore? Mike

Been fishing that lake for more than 20 years. They call it Stoney for good reason!! There are 2 public ramps that I know of, 1 at Viamede(GOOD ONE!) and 1 at McCracken's Landing Don't know how it is these days Want to know some stuff about Stoney let me know by PM. I will be heading up there Sat for a week. ft

I was fishing in the middle of Stoney Lake near Burleigh Falls. A bunch of buddies do this annual fishing trip and we were just meeting up to discuss the next area to target and a cell phone went off!! Being the smarta$$ that I am I said that line from the Labatt 50 commercial that was playing on TV that year....."AWWW, who brought a cell phone!?!?!?!" It was actually me who had the cell phone!! Imagine that , 8 guys and 1(one) cell phone. A lot has changed in 10 years. We went back to the cottages after hearing the awful news and could not believe our eyes what we were seeing on TV! I will likely be not far from the same location as the anniversary rolls over!

I looked at and checked out ALL the reels I could lay my hands on and polled every muskie guy I could ......I went with the REVO INSHORE and No regrets at all. If I had to use ONE REEL for every thing the Revo Inshore would be it. FT

Rob, there is a place in east London that makes those combined boat& trailer in one. They often have trailer tires on sale on KIJIJI Last summer they were advertising ST175/80 R13 Load range C Max load of 1360 lbs @50 PSI mounted on 5 bolt galvanized rims I have the name/contact info at work but do you think I can remember it now?!?!DANG!!EDIT! Admiral Drive Systems contact name was Bryan Stennett. I looked into them but they would not fit under my boat without modifying the fenders On my last boat trailer I put radials on it and WHAT a DIFFERENCE! Rode nice and cool and smoother ride. Mike

Also have a 2008 Escape, V6 2WD and tow a 16' Aluminum with 75 HP and 9.9 kicker. It tows it very well and have had no issues at any launch. I had the dealer add an extra tranny cooler. They kept saying you don't need it....I said I WANT IT ANYWAY! As for snow.... I would definitely get winter tires whether you have 2WD or 4WD. Huge difference. If you are looking at new, I would get the optional running boards...easy access to roof racks, easy to wash and keeps all the snow off the sides. THEY ARE AWESOME!! FT

Hey Lew, you got to take care of that "fishin" arm! Next time you are in a dollar store or similar, pick up one of those Super Soaker squirt guns the kids use. Fill it full of Windshield washer fluid and you are good to go. Works for icicles etc as well. The real bonus is that you get to use it in the summer too!!!! I never wanna grow up!! FT

Just an FYI!. The first time it has come to London...I think!! I have visited several shows in the area and it is ALWAYS AMAZING!! Some real history on display that you won't see on the water! http://www.cafta.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=50&Itemid=53 Best part is, there are many "experts" present who can give you a history lesson on that "old thng-a- ma-jig" lure that was in Grampa's tackle box! Lot's of stuff for sale as well. These guys will also buy good stuff if you are looking to sell. GREAT idea for the kids to see what WAS. See ya there! FT
