  1. Your are a sick puppy. Stop following me aorund with that net LOL. Save me a rock. I will not be as nice this time if anyone takes my spot while I am helping land someone elses fish. Watch out Jose Calcutta 200B, St. Croix Avid 9 1/2 ft Calcutta 200GTB, St. Croix Avid 10 1/2 ft So watch out for my backcast (remember what happened last time?)
  2. Way to go Cliff This year it has been totally wierd, I have still to land one this year. Maybe this weekend Jose

  4. Hey Nice Bucket I know were that is I am going on the weekend with my two sons. How is the weed situation ? Jose
  5. I have a 10 1/2f t Avid casting rod and a Calcutta 250GTB. This is what they call BC (British Columbia style) fishing. No need to put more stress on a chinook. I run 12 lb main and a 6lb Drenn Fluro ledaer. I can put a lot of pressure on the Chinooks. I can bring them in much faster than my centerpin setup. My centerpin only comes out later October and November when the bows come in. Jose
  6. I had 50lb braid on a Calcutta 250 baitcaster last year. Almost got spooled real fast, I snapped the fish off when I saw the black tape @ my spool. 10 1/2 ft St. Croix casting rod and I could not turn its head. Changed to 30 lb braid and no problems. Now Curado 300 and it has tons of line capacity. I still get outcasted by the spinning guys but not by much. Hope this helps Jose Cliff, nice fish
  7. You be amazed at the sheer power of a king in open water. Depends what #lb test you are running, Try 20 lb braid I believe the dia @ 6 lb dia. mono? My spinning outfit is a 4000 Sustain with 20 lb braid. Jose
  8. Okay, my 2 cents River mouths: Cleos, crocodiles and larger x-raps (3/4 oz): Equipment St. Croix Avid 9 1/2 ft baitcasting rod and 300 Curado. 30 lb braid, my battles do not last more than 5 minutes. I do not like waiting 10 - 15 minutes for another pesron using lighter gear holding up everyone else. In the river, you will not see me until October thru December, when the circus ends. I have seen enough of it the past years. Floatfishing: Single or double Extrude eggs (plastic) works like a charm on those rainbows. Jose
  9. I have done quite a bit of research when I was looking for winter tires for my Subaru and my wife's Mazda3 Try and get steel rims that were made specifically for you car. Do not get the multi fit rims that are sold at Can Tire, they are made to fit many cars. Better off going to the dealer and buying steel rims for your make and model (probably a good deal now). Also you would want to get hubcentric rims, the rims fit perfectly around the centerbore which is the size of the hole on the back of the rims. A hubcentric wheel has the center bore hole of the wheel exactly matching the vehicle's hub diameter. Multi fit rims rely mostly on the wheel studs only. Blizzacks for my AWD and I never lose traction. Nordic Ice trac for the wifes car. http://forums.tdiclub.com http://www.roadcompanion.ca/guide/_work/li...amp;magid=32627 Jose
  10. Ditto I was also looking at the same rods(2 to be exact). I almost hit the send odrer to Cabela's when I noticed the increased fee for delivery. Off I got to JB's. Jose

  15. Bill Stop it your killing me man. Want to buy another reel? LOL I have the Avid 10 1/2 Ft casting rod on order, mating up to a Calcutta 200GTB Jose
  16. You expected to get flamed and now your are upset that you are getting flamed? Like most people said break it off...... Jose
  17. Agreed Snagging: One of the main reasons I stopped river fishing during this time. Now I only head out late October to December. River mouths is the better option, feel the rush of a fresh chinook hitting a spoon. It is like a runaway freight train.
  18. If by accident I snag a salmon I would try to break off as fast as possible. As not spook the rest of the salmon in the pool. Probably get a lot of other guy ticked at you would even try to land a snagged salomn. I have seen that happen many times, a novice having one snagged and the rest of the guys screaming at him to break it off.
  19. I agree http://www.thefishinguide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5263
  20. Dan How is that HSTA working out? Jose
  21. Most of my bass fishing is using weightless plastics (wacky style). Here are my baitcasting setups, for throwing wacky style worms (4-5” yum dingers) Daiwa Steez, Shimano Calais100, Sufix 30lb braid The key is (IMO) getting the correct action rod. The rods I use are St. Croix they both have an extra fast (or fast) tapers such as 70MF or the 68MXF and handle 1/4 - 5/8 oz weights. Do not forget worms are not really weightless some are up to 1/2 oz in weight. Also you should put on 2-3 ft of fluorocarbon leader if you are using braid. Most of the time I am fishing from shore. Jose
  22. Hi A lot of power pro users on this board. I still use one reel that has Power pro on it. But I find that Sufix Perf. Braid to be a performing line. Jose
  23. Great timing on that post Jose
