My son and I joined up with the members of Golden Horseshoe Bass Anglers that were holding a friendly tourney. Myself and my son were both non boaters for the day and that was just fine with me.Got to relax.LOL Fishing was tough. Once again fish in the boat right off,then we had to look for them. This is a bad pattern Im setting.LOL First 2 fish (smallies) were on dropshot in 15 fow. BTW Mr,Kulik,we need to talk,Im out of that bait.LOL Man they work. Made 3 passes on both side of the island then headed to another and started with the wizzle worm in 3-5 feet of water. This spot was a sand/rock.weeds mixed area. My partner nails a nice 2+ chunky smallie. Second later I get a nice haul,sweep the rod fish on,,,,,,,,,dont ya just hate it when you get bit off. Stupid pike.LOL Time to fish some pads,it did seem earlly for the big guys to be there but we gave it a try. Lots of dinks. One patch we pulled out 4/12 inchers. Man they were fisty and hungry. Water temps were 68. Pretty cool I thought. On our travels we ran into my son and his partner. We asked how they were doing,and just like a tourney guy said nothing. Ahhhh, ok,then why that smirk then.LOL Off we go to try a few other spots. Manged a few more dinks and one more keeper off a dock. Head to the launch for the wiegh in.We enter our mesly 4 fish and watch the rest of the boats come in and weigh. I see my son and his partner checking on the livewell,and even though I couldnt see his eyes through the glasses,I could see the smile he was so trying hard to hide. They are getting the fish in the bag, theres 1,,,,,2,,,,,,,,,,3,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,4,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,5. Ok now the peacock feathers are starting to spread. They put the fish on the scale. Close to 10 pounds. Once the weigh in is over,it turns out him and his partner finished 3rd. Myself and my partner,well we suck.LOL And we both admitted it. There are some here that know his partner. Patrick Chow. Both him and his wife Helen are great people.Ryan really injoyed his day with him on the water. Pics from the day.

Today was the day to introduce my son to the bass tourney scene,and I have to tell ya,he reminded of me when I was going to fish my first only a few years ago. You think he drank 20 coffees before we got there LOL We arrive at the marina and the line up is back 20 boats or more and he says HOLY CRAP. I say yep,it all starts here.Prep the boat,move a few feet,stop,prep some more,move a few feet. We get to launch and this is where I tell him what has to happen, and he says,ME.I say yep.I luanch you off you just use the trolling motor to manuver around and just find a dock til I get back. This is where Im thinking only,what is/who is he going to bang into. To my pleased eyes,he has the boat at the dock and alittle nervy as he tells me the trolling motor was on high,and almost went over.LOL Welcome to trolling motor 101. It,s time to head for the blast off and Im manuovering between boats and trying to get myself in a good post postion spot so I can head right to our spot. He ,s laying back taking in the atmosfer, taking pics and I say,hang on. WHAT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I YELL HANG ON. poop,camera goes in his coat,he grabs the holly poop rail and off we go. We are the first to get to the bay,then followed by one other boat.Now were fishing. I had already decided how I was going to fish today due to the cold front we have been having the last few days. Small and slow. It was no more then 5 minutes we had the first 3 pounder in the boat. Im saying, yes,it going to be a great day. 10 minutes later put a 3.5 in the boat,then the next cast a 2 pounder in the boat. Man we are smok,n. Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we were. It was like a switch was hit. Nothing for the next 4 hours,well keeper size anyways. We make a run to the north part of the lake were we had caught some 2 pounders a couple weeks ago. Then the rain came. Flip,n plastic sticks,my son finally put the forth fish in the boat. It makes the 13 inch min so now we have 4 fish in the well. I say to him just one more. Well we got 8 more,but nothing worthy of the well. Lots of pike today aswell. I thought I had the kicker of the day on a tube,turned out to be a 5 pound pike. poop. The last hour of the day we run and gun trying to get that fifth fish ,but it was not to be. To me as many know,if we do good and win something,great if not,hey I/WE learned. I believe there was around 74 boats and we finished 31. Middle of the pack on a tough bite after a great start. It was his day to be the man,I stepped back,let him fill the bag and head up to the stage,as I know that is a great feeling to bring fish up. He did admit though,this is alot tougher then he thought. When you have to deal with slow bites,rain,winds it,s a whole new ball game. He will get another chance Sunday on six mile.We are fishing a club tourney. I leave you with pic,s from the day. Ever since I recieved my shirts he has been eye one and bugg,n the crap out of me for it,I kept saying no,but I was going to give it to him on this day. He was a very happy fishermen. It was awesome to fish with my son today and see the smile on his face. I wouldnt trade that for anything.

In the last few weeks and my posts going back, I have been talking about my oldest boy. I am a fishermen and my oldest is aswell,but the eldest, well he is alternative (SPORTS WISE) and I got no qwuams about that,heck I should of been sharing his success with you all.Success I mean, he is acomplishing his own dream. Im sure there are many out there that curse and yell and want to take the heads off of your local SKATEB BOARDERS, but hey,it,s a sport that can bring in some major cash and fill the pockets of those that do well. There are some Im sure, remember when the board was cool and now it,s WAY COOL, and brings big dollars to the riders that can stay on thier boards. JUST LIKE THE BASS FISHING TOUR. Those that watch the extream games or as they call it now ,the Dew games,these guys make you wonder what the hell are these guys/gals thinking or doing.Im not up on the lingo but what they do is artistic and no way in hell would you catch me up 10-15 feet up in the air twisting and flipping a board under me and then landing on two feet,on a board thats still moving. Well anyways,what Im getting to,he has had a few local sponsors here in Barrie and has done ok.He works full time construction and plays on the board trying to live a dream like I do with my bass fishing. Today he left with some other fellas,for Montreal to do filming with a crew and Im very happy to say Im proud of him and Im hopeing one day I,ll see him on these extream/Dew games. Well all I can say is Im not pleased.He should of showed respect to his sponsor first before joining.I kinda have lost a bit of respect for the man/boy.I dont think he was thinking of others before he made the move.Yes I do believe in taken care of myself first kinda thing,but to really slap everyone in the face,it,s not good. If truth be told,Im starting to like that smoke guy and will jump on the truex wagon .

Saturday morning cant come soon enough for myself and my oldest son.For me I know what to expect now, but for my oldest boy it is a real high.He,s been ready for the last three weeks to fish his first bass tourney and all I have been hearing is,Im ready,you got everything ready,Im ready,you got all your stuff ready.LOL Im really looking forward to our day on the water together and Im positive we will be compititive. Will have a full report with pic,s of our day when we return. Now where did I put the keys to the boat. HEHEHE Im thinking that would be a real bad trick to play on him in the morning,I would hate to see a young man cry.LOL
