  1. Hoping to be able to go and harass my buddy CC while he's working (cough, cough. I think that would be a first. Working that is!) Just kidding Scott. Life's getting busy for some reason. Maybe that was her plan! Keep me busy enough that I can't drive out there and spend money . Damn she's good.
  2. I think the biggest difference Toyota has over the domestics is service. All car makers produce lemons or cars with more problems than others made that year ( either made on a Friday of a long weekend or the first Monday after Christmas holidays). My mom had a Camary that ate starters and alternators BUT they took it in and fixed it over and over, no arguments and a car to drive to boot. I've owned three GMC trucks and the Chevy truck I own right now and have been happy with them. They do what I need them to do and come back for more even though I use them hard. The Chevy is the first one that has needed warranty work performed and it has been hell. The Bull GM dealers put you through is incredible but if you were paying for it they bend over backwards to help you and no replacement ride unless they know for a fact it is warranty work. They have put three sets of heads on it and they are going again. I can't wait for the fight with the service manager this time . All the brands have their good and bad points but after this experience I might change brands next time just because of the service side of things. Toyota seems to be the best for service according to friends and family but I personally don't like the '07 truck for my own reasons after driving one for a while at work. Not saying it's bad, just not for me. Does that make any sense? Going to have to start a thread next year on service stories to see who comes out on top. After all the crap I have been through with this, it will come down to the truck as well as the best after sales service next time. I want someone who backs up what they sell. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and fix this one myself, put a new motor in it and ride it into the ground. I truly believe after sale service is what has given the Big Three all their bad press in the last 20 years. I just happened to experience it recently and I am considering a brand change. How many others are out there like me. I think they took the North American market for granted and are paying for it now.
  3. As long as you are going to Disney World not Land in Orlando you'll be ok. LOL Be prepared the place is huge, with four different parks spread around their property and a bunch of Disney run hotels from value to deluxe. Any question you might have would be covered in this two sites. The first one has a forum to ask members questions as well. http://www.wdwinfo.com/ http://allears.net/ Have fun, the kids will never want to go to Wonderland again.
  4. Why do you act like a three year old slaming other brands? You like yours, so what, that's YOUR problem. The tread was going just fine till you had to build up Toyota. Why do you need to do that? If it was such a great truck it would be flying off the showroom floors in North America. It's not, maybe that's why you need to build it up every time the subject comes up to make yourself feel better about the purchase in the first place. Who cares about a TUNDRA commercials on TV. They all lie to sell product or haven't you figured it out yet. Oh by the way the thing is a pig on gas, got one at work just like the picture. Can't tow a 4x8 trailer with foam in it without it all over the road. Boss can't wait for the lease to come up so he can ditch the thing, can't sell it no one wants it. As for a work truck, look around any job site. In order of popularity Ford, Gm, Dodge. Haven't seen a Tundra other than ours, wonder why???
  5. Good to hear you had a great time. Maybe that old tread made them stop, think and change their way of doing business.
  6. OT:This is a stupid console drivers question. How in the world do you hold on to a tiller that big with it wide open? I didn't know they came that big.
  7. The two wheel drive gets better mileage but I love having the option of throwing her in 4x4. A friend has one with the locking diff and a good set of tires and does pretty good with it.
  8. I have an 05 Chevy with the 5.3 and she gets anywhere from 500klm to 700klms from 90 liters. If you drive it hard she sucks it back but as someone else said keep her under 2000 rpm's on the highway and it seems to go forever. I pull a 16ft Lowe and it does a good job.
  9. Not all but you would like to think the person that went through the trouble to start the tread is telling the truth. To be honest I never thought of someone starting a thread to voice a problem would be doing it to submarine someones business. To me that's just low. I don't believe everything I read or watch either but I believe the original poster because it was very similar to our experience there. Good point though, made me think.
  10. Nice toy! Gotta be bitter sweet though, can't take it for a spin for a while that's gotta hurt. Maybe you can take it up to your favourite lake and have someone tow you around on the ice LOL.
  11. This is the same thing I read and heard as well. Certain employees have done this for years just before they take off for the day. Who ever wants to say it, says it then they are off. Takes 10 seconds. Can someone explain the big deal please? One miserable SOT is causing trouble and trying to make everyone around him miserable. Some people just have nothing better to do but make something out of nothing.
  12. Isn't it fishy the only people that seemed to enjoy this place have less than 5 posts combined. The underlying theme seems to be the lack of customer service or the feeling that you as a customer are taken for granted. I don't have a problem going outside around the area of the bungalow's and fishing. What's the point, this outfitter has you close into shore in shallow water. But driving a mile or two out where everyone else is and having to pay even more for an outhouse on ski's leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. If it was in the website so be it, I would be forewarned but I wasn't. The impression I was left with was suck as much money outta these people as you can before they leave and if they are not spending ignore them. At the time we went we did pretty good compared to our neighbouring bungalows (One fish a day for three days, two guys). Some were totally skunked and not very happy either. If you advertise all kinds of action maybe you might try and live up to the ads, notice I said try. I know it's called fishing and not catching Jim78 but it would be nice if you had a fighting chance. Either way I wouldn't even think of giving this outfit another dime, they don't seem to care so why should I care if they make it another season. What goes around comes around. Again the bungalows were nice but the owner wasn't.
  13. It's to bad about this place because you can see the potential for the business. The huts or bungalows seem to be of nice quality for what they are. I think he said he was a farmer and this is a hobby, so maybe he doesn't need the money. If you treat people better they will come back over and over, look at all the other outfitters getting great praise. Why? Customer Service, period.
  14. Were you just out in the bay from were you drive on the ice? Canadian Copper and I were there two winters ago and said the reason he was so close to shore was bad ice but for an extra fee he would take us out where the fish were . We were sitting on two feet of ice . I thought the idea was to fish in the bungalow not go sit in a 4 x 8 little shack and how come all the other outfitters are out there? Scotts wife had given it as a Christmas present to him so I couldn't complain too much, just provide the transportation . He ran out of minnows Sat. afternoon and now that I remember it he was pretty crusty old bugger unless you were spending money. All in all I had a good weekend with a good friend and made the best of it, I think we caught 3 fish from Fri. afternoon till Sun. at lunch. We were away from the wives, what more can you ask for?
  15. Bernie, So as long as you drive more than these customers you should have no problem? The key is getting the engine up to operating temp and this will not happen. That is wild.
  16. Just seen the footage, the pilot deserves a medal getting that 320 in the water in one piece. Saved a lot of lives, people shown waiting on the wings to be rescued. Just amazing.
  17. :D I bet a big percentage of us could say that! She knows and is just waiting for the perfect time to throw it down, ask me how I know. LOL
  18. I agree with MH but do not like his personality on TV. I know someone who has worked there for 15yrs and says they are getting worse and they are in management. Years ago it was the norm to have the house finished weeks before the PDI so they could go through the house and make sure things were as good as it can be for the home owner. Now they have crazy closing dates and the pressure to put out more and more houses, faster and faster has seriously affected quality. It is not only at Mattamy but builders across the GTA. Trades are being pushed to the max and just don't seem to care because the builder doesn't. If you tell a crew the house needs to be rough framed in three or four days instead of seven or ten guess what, they are going to cut some corners or they find someone who can and they do. Someone earlier said peace work is the problem as well, the faster you go the more units you can do, the more money you make, the more short cuts you take. I've watched it for years, that why I don't like working housing projects anymore. People spend so much money on these houses it's a shame to watch them be thrown together so fast and carefree. As for inspectors in housing I've seen cases where the guy never leaves the trailer and passes a bunch of stuff sight unseen. Once a bunch of houses were drywalled without insulation inspection, was it wrong who knows? The big boss showed up, the inspector left and the houses continued on, no drywall removed, your guess is as good as mine as to what happened in there. To be fair I have also seen guys that check everything and are a pain in the supers side. On commercial jobs a lot of the inspections are carried out by consultants and not much is passed by because if there is a problem they signed it off and could be sued. It seems to me, to be more oversight in the commercial/industrial side of things than housing. I dig footings and more often than not I have a soil guy checking every foot of ground I dig. If it isn't up to his liking I dig till I hit good ground. Boss doesn't mind he gets paid for anything over plan spec. I wouldn't buy a new house with everything I've seen over the years. Buy old or get a good custom builder.
  19. Thank you, I've been putting the little arrow thingy on everything. Saw the forms thing but could not find that top listed. The one you are looking at is the Black Lund with the Bluebombers sticker on it, right? The price seems very reasonable to me. One size fits all? Boats come in different beams, I wonder how that works?
  20. Am I stupid? I found the page and the top but didn't see a price. More, bigger pictures would be nice but I couldn't find them. That would be perfect for my boat. Need that front and top sometimes right Canadian Copper . LOL
  21. I would just like to say Thank you Lew for your years of service doing a job I would never be able to do. I have two friends who are Metro Police and my dad's good friend (ret) who was in the Fire dept in North Bay, I have heard some of the stories good and bad about your job and theirs. I know I couldn't do it but I'm grateful there are people like you and my friends who can. I know safety regs are there for a reason and peoples lives depend on them but it just seems like they are getting so silly with some of them these days. I'm sorry to hear about your son, sounds like he made his father proud. Those Steelworkers are a hardy bunch and they amaze me on any project I've ever been on. Then again I get nervous on a 10 ft ladder . To the OP sorry for screwing up your thread. Chris.
  22. Unfortunately, people with common sense are getting screwed on the job because of stupid people. I've been told to wear my hard hat inside my excavator. What! if something comes through the roof of that thing a little piece of plastic isn't going to help me. I was told someone was working close to a building and stuck his head out to talk to someone and was hit by something from the roof. That is why, not law though. I told the inspector to give me a ticket and I'll see you in court, never did , wonder why? Another example is tying off with a harness at all times on motor lifts. Why? Cause some moron climbed on the railing when the thing didn't reach and fell to serious injury or death, must have left the common sense at home. Another pet peeve of mine is needing to be certified to hook up propane. I can't do it at work because it's dangerous without training but at home the same propane tank can be hooked up to the BBQ no problem. Asked my trainer what the difference was and he said there wasn't one. I don't see my buddy next door putting on the face shield, neoprene gloves and protective clothing as he put a new tank on the barbie. He always does the whosh explosion thing when he starts it, so who's more dangerous. It's going to come to the point that nothing will get done because of all the regs. Safety is great, just don't pick on me in the middle of a field with no hard hat on, use common sense, go pick on the brick layers, they never set up the scaffold right. I would never do anything to put my life on the line for work and you can avoid dangerous situations if you use common sense. Sorry for the rant. I feel better though.
  23. Thanks for that quick reply, I guess I need to check the fine print. That would mean 4x4ing would be out as well if you had that clause.
  24. I thought once you took your vehicle on the ice you were on your own and no insurance?
  25. As long as you keep that ball hat on you can whip around Durham all day long. You lucky bugger!
