  1. Absolute magic! When I see your family I want to smack mine. Congratulations.
  2. Wow! your Brothers look alot alike!
  3. Guys, I have heard that the inner bay on Lake Erie has sand bars that can present a danger to the newbie. What is the best way to learn the bay without risking the boat? Thanks, Jim
  4. I don’t know who ultimately gets the money, but I know that I only have so much of it. If it all goes into my tank, then it doesn’t go elsewhere in the economy. I don’t know how this helps any government. I have already cancelled my newspaper and pared down my cable service (the internet I guess, will be next) and all charitable donations have stopped. These measures are not taken because I can’t afford to do everything, but because I won’t afford to do everything. When the newspaper has to lay off the night shift because people can’t afford the paper anymore maybe the powers that be might think twice.
  5. Hi All, I have not used spinner baits a great deal, but am willing to bow to their popularity on this forum and try some. I have seen them for like $2.99 at Bill’s in Hamilton and I have seen them on the website of an advertiser on this forum that charges twice that . Which are good ones and which are not worth the price? Thanks as always.
  6. Hi All, I have just made the jump to a soft sided tackle box (inspired by the recent thread and the fact the crappy tire had them on sale). I got the one with three regular trays and one “flip-side” tray. I don’t really get the concept of the flippy thing. The compartments seem awful small and I am wondering what they were designed to fit. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks, Jim
  7. Everybody deals with situations in different ways. Lets try to stay on the ground about this.
  8. Hi Guys and Gals, Hey, I’ve got the new boat home and by a long shot it is the nicest thing in the driveway. I have a question though. All of the switches are live to the battery and I am worried that I could hit a switch by accident (say, while cleaning it) and the bilge pump would be running for days by the time I found it. Should I think about wiring in a master switch? Do other boats come with a master? Has anyone done this, or am I being paranoid? Thanks, Jim
  9. Thanks everyone for the great responses. The links to articles were also very helpful. Roy, I do mainly inland lake fishing, and for the most part in boats. I like to fish for Bass, Pike and Walleye. I drift, troll, cast and jig. Maybe my question should have been “At what point do I need to buy a bait caster?” And if I am reading right the answer would be “when I start to try to haul bass out of heavy cover on a regular basis”. Yes?
  10. Hi guys, I am not sure if I understand the theory behind owning a bait caster set up (over or as well as say, a spinning reel set up). Would anyone mind enlightening me? Thanks. Jim
  11. Hey! I loved it, thanks for posting. The sad thing is that I really enjoyed the song. Talk about "hoping it doesn't come to this", I am starting to like country more and more. I am also listening to CBC radio more than the FAN 590. My life is officially over. Soon kid, this whole forum will be living vicariously (look it up) through you. Don’t let us down!!!
  12. I'm ready. Not to fish so much perhaps, as to get out in the boat (one step at a time). I am waiting for the ramps to dry up and open.
  13. Some great ideas. I checked out Cabala's and here is what I found. This is my first attempt at posting a link, here goes boat umbrella boat umbrella
  14. You read my mind! (granted, it's a quick read)
  15. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has ever seen an alternative to the “Bimini top” on a fishing boat. They look a bit like a plumber’s nightmare. I was thinking more of an umbrella arrangement that would plug into one of the seat bases; no poles, no rigging, no strings attached. Has anyone seen anything like this? Jim
  16. Thanks as always boys. Jim
  17. This is almost as bad as "What hand do you crank with?". But I am wondering if you lube the ball on your hitch? Dry metal to metal contact is almost never a good thing, no?
  18. Guys, What is the deal with Catfish? What can you touch, what will sting, what’s an old wives tale and what is real? Right now if I get a catfish on I throw the rod and reel overboard and start again somewhere else. What am I missing?
  19. Ya..thats what I do too. Not
  20. Beware the marketing ploy
  21. Proctor Marine in Simcoe has Merc 9.9's on for $2100.00. I am not in the market, but thought that was a good price.
  22. That could be true, I never specified when I asked.
  23. That's good stuff.
  24. I just received my first mail order form LaBaron. I was thrilled; until I went to my local Canadian Tire. I found out there, just by happening to read a sign, that they will price match (plus 10%, which is probably in CT money). Now make no mistake I saved money from LB, over CT’s regular prices even after factoring in handling and shipping charges, but if CT would have just price matched (based on an LB catalogue) I would have had LB’s great pricing with out the handling and mailing fee. I checked with a staff member and they price match on everything in the store, even fishing stuff. One example, Burkley Fireline Crystal: LaBaron $16.85 - Canadian Tire $26.89!!! Show them the catalogue, save ten bucks! This is an especially big deal to me as I live 1 1/2 hours from LB, so mail order is my only viable LB option. Is it just me that didn’t know this?
