  1. Same with me. I snapped a Triumph and just took it back to Bill's B & T and they took care of everything (through the rep I would guess). Jim
  2. I meant to mention him, he looked decent too. Jim
  3. You can if you're gifted. He's done. Jim
  4. I went down to the Marlies vs. Hamilton Bulldogs game on Friday night and noted the following: - Best Marlie hands down: Colton Orr (first goal, fight, third star of the game) - Scrivens looked very good - #29 D'amicho also looked tough and good - Kadri was invisible. Complete crap - Won't play in the NHL (IMHO) - The Bulldogs never were a threat - The captain of the Marlies (Hamilton, I think his name was) looked gritty and good, but too small perhaps? Jim
  5. I still stay away because of it. I did not know that there was a new owner but was in there once before and found the guy to be a complete knob (Adrian I presume). Jim
  6. Talk about not being in the club! What does that mean? Jim
  7. I spend loads of money at Bill's, don't worry. And you are correct that Tim and Greg are the best, hands down, but the rod and reel selection at Fishing World rivals Bass Pro (especially if you somehow calculate the drive into equation), their prices are good (and great in some cases), and their lure selection and sales are more than decent. Warts and all, it is worth a visit (IMHO) Jim
  8. Hi all, Not sure if this has been posted or not, but Fishing World in Hamilton has a no tax on everything sale until March 19th. I have been hard on Fishing World in the past, but I think they might be trying to turn things around a bit (I actually talked to a guy that I liked in there last week. I wasn't made to feel like I was interruptingng a boys club meeting, nor was I made to feel like a moron for asking for something that I wanted instead of something the dude wanted me to have. Is there any chance they are finally getting it?) Jim
  9. I was going to climb all over you (you know, who sponsors your kid's hockey team? Who pays municipal taxes? etc.) then I realized that you are completely correct and that I do exactly the same thing (order in what I am not willing to drive all over the city to see if it is hanging on someone's wall or not). For years it was just a part of shopping in Canada that you bought what they had, and if they didn't have it you made do with what they did have. I have also found is that places like Bill's (Greg and Tim are the absolute best) can often get stuff in at the same price that I can have it shipped to the house for (in the case of rods where shipping is prohibitive) and still have a profit margin (I assume). It does pay to ask first though, but the days of driving to a store hoping that they have the exact rod you were after are just about over. Jim
  10. Let me get this straight; People that like other teams should sell everything they own, uproot their families, and move to where those teams are. Yup, you're a leafs fan alright. Jim
  11. I couldn't have said this better myself. We have made a drinking game out of every time he mentions the old days just to make himself relevant ("I had 5 twenty goal scorers in Boston" None of them would score 5 goals in today's NHL). I think that the entire CBC broadcast has become extremely over produced, but I am just plain tired of Don (and by association I suppose, Ron). Jim
  12. Do you have an electric trolling motor? If yes, you can troll with it. My main motor (a 60 HP 4/stroke) trolls down to about 2 MPH on a calm day, which I feel is too fast for walleye. I drop the electric and troll with it then use the main as a rudder. I have an on-board charger and can usually go an entire weekend on one charge. Jim
  13. I am a St Croix guy also and will likely purchase a new Avid ML, XF this month (likely at Fishing world during their upcoming sale). But I have also been looking at the Okuma C3 rods in ML XF for around the same money or slightly less even. The problem with the Okumas is where to find the bloody things in any numbers that you can hold a them in hand. Like you I will also be purchasing a Pflueger as well. Jim
  14. I am lucky that in owning a Crestliner I don't have to worry about slowing the boat down. The giant split down the middle of the hull takes care of that! Full throttle is 1.7 MPH. perfect for walleye. (Sorry, I guess I'm still not over it) Jim
  15. I think is just confused, the post asked for Crestliner owners. And where has anybody been to see three of anything, let alone three boats "split open". It is a fantastic boat at at fantastic price. Do yourself a favour and PM Bernie on this board, that is if his head hasn't split open from listening to morons bash the boats he sells. Jim
  16. The only dangerous thing is the fact that the internet makes everyone an expert (except of course the guys that own Legends and the guy that works for Legend, they appparently don't know anything). Henry and Dan are welded together in their opinions, and the rest of you are riveted to one idea: everything but Lund is bad (throw Alumacraft in there as well, they are two peas in a pod as are the people that will know no other). I hope that the general boat buying public appreciates the service you guys are providing them by protecting them from the boat company who's only mission is to fill the lakes with boats that are struggling to get on plane. You guys need to find a more public vehicle for your message because it is clearly not being heard, the bloody lakes are filled with people in Legends. If only they knew the danger that they were in. Jim
  17. Buy a Crestliner. Jim
  18. I wish that I had bought a Lund just so I didn't have to continuously defend buying a Crestliner. Sometimes being an innovative trend-setting border-pushing industry leader is more than one can bear. Crestliner must feel the same way Jim
  19. I am not a salesman, but I do play one on TV! I just love the boat show, even when I am not looking for anything. I love it from the minute I walk in and think that for straight value for your state of mind, it is worth the trip. But I think that it is invaluable for buying boats or accessories. In terms of being able to sit in a boat, making direct comparisons, or holding a paddle in your hand, it can't be beat. You can ask "Lowrance or Humminbird or Garvin?" Or you can go and demo all three. Jim
  20. I divorced my first wife for sucking on a fisherman's friend. Thanks for bringing it up. Jim
  21. Um, DUH! If you don't go to the boat show you are missing out on an opportunity to answer many questions (first hand) that you would otherwise have to rely on random people whom you really don't know (from forums for instance) to answer. Spend the money, go to the show! Jim
  22. Wayne, I love you, but I hate the riveted plane analogy. Do they rivet submarines (yes. I know they used to, but where did it get the Germans?)? I am just glad to hear that someone on this board has chosen two boats and neither one is a Lund! It shows that there is hope for humanity yet!! Jim
  23. I am fine eating food with two sticks, why would I try a fork? I am fine with a typewriter, why would I want a word processor? I am fine with vanilla, why would I want maple walnut? I am fine with having sex once in a blue moon, why would I get a vasectomy? My grandfather owned a riveted boat, why would I want a welded boat? Crestliner all the way!! or Smokercraft. Who really cares (for the amount you are likely to use it)? But to buy a riveted boat just because that is all that 9 out of 10 people have ever known is wrong. A riveted boat will leak if you keep it long enough, your welded boat will leak if there is a factory defect. Over. Jim
  24. Yes, because they don't have to be waterproof. Jim
  25. 28 1/2" Walleye. Caught very slow trolling with a Northland Baitfish Float n' Spin (in perch colour)and a bottom bouncer. Caught her in a small lake near Burke's Falls.
