Poor kid's all confused. I think Mike, that you might be suffering from the illusion that it is just you. It ain't. We all have tackle bags full of stuff that we will never use, that is what keeps the economy rolling. Truth be known, you would catch near as many fish on a hook and worm or jig and minnow. But that's not what we do, we buy stuff man!!! That's the beauty of the sport, we buy all this stuff and still take minnows and worms up north to catch the fish. Look, relax, take the stuff out of your box that you think you might never use (have a son and fill his box with it, that's what I did) then go out and get the stuff that you wish you would have got had you known then what you know now. Then repeat about every 8 months. You'll be fine. Jim

They weren't sheepies Lex. they were smallies. Remember too that when your buddy has one on, cast in behind him cause there is usually one or two following the fish that is hooked (waiting for him to spit the bait I guess). Find structure and you find fish. As far as finding a hump in the lake goes, well, I haven't been that lucky. But here's hoping Jim

Thanks for some great fishing memories Mother

Wayne, I have missed your posts all summer. I am sorry to hear of your mother as I was your sister. There are many of us that are approaching that time in our life where we have to start saying goodbye to folks. Think nice thoughts. Jim -
Looks like you guys had a feast!! Thanks for the pictures. Jim

Congratulations on the new boat! How 'bout a picture of her? How sharp are your hooks? I know that Scum-frogs can be a bit tough to set by their very design (weedless) but with dull hooks forget it. Sharpen those bad boys. Jim

You call that a report? What were the bass hitting? Jim -
Try this website for knots. http://www.animatedknots.com/usesfishing.p...imatedknots.com Jim

Welcome! Take some time and read lots on this board including the blogs and e-zine. Use the search feature to get specific on different topics. A little research goes a long way. Jim

I throw mine back into the bag and let the salt from the other tubes help the tube to recuperate. I usually loose them before I have worry about their potency. Jim

I'm the other way, I would rather be hot than cold any day. Nice report and great photos. Thanks! Jim

I mainly use watermelon with a chartreuse tip (if that counts). Being a good fisherman though, I have every colour in the rainbow, most of which have never been opened. Jim

No, I'm good. Sometimes I can watch while the tail tries to wag the dog and sometimes I can't. Jim

I love 35 post guys throwing their weight around. People fought and died for that kind of freedom. Speaking of freedom, you are free to hang out at your other forum (you know, the one that does everything the right way) rather than trying to change this one. Jim

I have never done the walleye thing in Erie (don't have the gear to go deep) but the smallmouth fishing is awesome. What you might not get in numbers are made up for in size (a four pound average is not uncommon). Senkos & tube jigs work for me and are as easy to do as falling off a log. I think you are correct about the humps, find structure and you find fish. I typically launch out of Port Maitland because it is free and central (and good) and the bait shop is right there if you need it. Plus if the lake kicks up you can go up into the mud puddle for some fishing. Good luck!! Jim

I am not sure how the fishing is but there were loads of people doing it (fishing that is ) Jim

The other day Will and I took our bikes down to the Discovery Centre at Pier 4 park in Hamilton for a ride. I am posting here to tell you that if you haven't been down there in a while you should go. It is without a doubt the best use of government funds that I have ever seen. They have done a fantastic job down there, including the best boat ramp/parking situation I have ever used. When you ride around you can see room for expansion and future development but I never once thought "I would have done this, or that". The running/riding paths are lighted at night and cleared of ice all winter. Really very well done. Check it out sometime. Jim

You can also add weight by putting finishing nails in each end if the straight worm (I have them in the box but have never actually done it). What I do when in Erie for smallies is cover water by slowly trolling with the electric. I cast out perpendicular to or even ahead of the line of travel of the boat. Thus by the time the worm is being dragged by the boat it has had time to sink. I usually am fishing in less than 20 FOW as well. It seems to work but you never know if something could work better. Judging by the drinks and snacks in the picture, I'd say the christening was a given. Not that it's any of our business Jim

On my rods I use braid line with a Flouro leader and I put a small swivel between the two lines. I do not use snaps anymore for quick changes, I either tie direct or use those little wire hook like thingys that are barely visible and just hook onto the eye of a lure. Honestly though I tie direct more often than knot Jim

Congratulations Brother!! You've just joined the worlds greatest fraternity. Don't tell Misfish though he says there isn't enough parking in Barrie as it is. Well done to you and your Mrs. Jim

Hopefully this doesn't constitute a thread hijack, but doesn't drop shotting kind of limit the ways in which a fish can attack the bait? The beauty of wacky or Texas rigging a senko is that as it floats down the fish can grab it from anywhere. If you drop shot it, it can't grab it from the bottom or the front no? I know people are killing fish by drop shotting, but much like rip-jigging, I am having trouble seeing it. Jim

Welcome aboard! It is nice to see someone that keeps bass, it is becoming a lost art. Jim

I've got a couple of them, I also have about twenty Rapalas etc. I don't know that one is much better than the other. I suppose to be scientific you would need to have two guys in the same boat pulling one of each. Jim

It sounds like you can't fish and chew gum at the same time. Have you considered the uncoordinated gits forum? Jim

I am always surprised at the amount of stuff that Buckeye does have. KLO must be the new place on the main drag (just in from the side walk) eh? I stopped in quickly for a look back in July. Good small town tackle shops are hard to find, but there is a good little shop in Burke's Falls. Nobody has mentioned Epps on Hwy 11, aren't they kind of iconic? (note: it got mentioned while I was typing, see above) Jim
