Howdy all, When does the OFC fishing tourney usually begin? registration? Now that I got myself a digital camera I'm all ready to start submitting when the regs allow it. reefrunner

I think I got a good price on it. You know, I was under the same impression Roy and I checked the price with the store manager and all. It even had a sticker price on it for reg. $189.99. All in, I'm happy with it and I don't mind paying the extra fazools if it's a quality product. Thanks again all, reefrunner

Thanks for your input everyone. Bought an Abu 6501 C3 at CTC, but it was $94.99 (half off $189.99); Did I get jipped for $20? I checked with the store manager and said it was the right price. Those who got it at $75 walked away with a bargain. Anyway, it's a real beaut...couldn't put it down and I'm happy with the purchase. Oh, and I did end up getting the 6501(left retrieve) just because that's what I feel most comfortable with. Paired it up with a BPS M/H 6'6" two-piece, wanted the 7" but it was a one-piece and I need to break it down for travelling. Now I can't wait to christen it with it's first ski!!! A big thank you to everyone weighing in and helping me make an educated purchase; the first fish caught/released on the rig will be dedicated to the community. reefrunner

That totally sux dude. Hopefully a depper investigation finds out more for ya. I'll keep ny eyes out for it in my travels though. Had a brand spanken new Honda Accord V6, with the special no start without this fancyarse microchiped key, lifted right out of my driveway in the middle of the night last year. They must've brought a flat bed and disengaged the alarm in the driveway. Mindboggling. reefrunner

I bring a cell phone when heading out fishing just for safety purposes. As others have mentioned, text messaging works on lower frequencies and have much greater range. I'm glad the Nippissing area is getting more towers and better coverage: I find it a welcomed upgrade to the near northern telecom infrastructure that will benefit the general area greatly. Lot's of people don't have cell phones because of the costs and hassles with a plan. At my folk's cottage they have no phone so I got my Mom a pay-as-you-go cell phone and taught her how to text message, now she' hooked and I get random updates of the weather and events goin on up there. Only thing that sux with pay as you go is that the cards have an expiry date on them, so if you don't use up your credit it'll expire on ya. reefrunner

Well was calling around all the CTC's in the GTA for a 6501C3 and it was selling for $94.99. Funny, some here have said they picked them up for $74.99. Is that correct? Lefties are more expensive than rightied by $20? reefrunner

Saw some baitcast's at this weeks sportsman show and I knew if I would've hung around longer than I did, I probably would've been walking out with something that I was uneducated about. How much did you pay for your a single C3 at CTC? reefrunner

But observance and the poll results (early) indicate something otherwise. It seems like most right handers like spinning left and baiting right. I'm interested to see where this goes, and the multitude of possible explanations. And for those who are omnidexterous (comforatable with both right and left), ya'll have one heckuva love life. reefrunner

It's a simple question....and a slow day at work. lol. What hand do you crank your reel with? I am right handed. However, all my fishing gear cranks with the left. I'm in the market for a baitcast combo and the question came up. For instance, my cousin is right handed,has his spinning gear cranking on the left but baitcast on the right. I'm think I'll be more comfortable on the left but try out the poll and we'll see what the general trend is here. Comments would be appreciated too. Try to steer them away from dating advice or whatever sicko things might be incinuated from this topic. reefrunner

Thanks Bassman! The C3 does have some good reviews and I'm definately considering it as an option. Found the 01 at the back of product codes means left retrieve so I'm good there. Many lefties out there? Like I mentioned earlier, my spin outfit retrieve crank is on the left so I'm assuming it'll be more comfortable on that side tossing huge cranks. I'm right handed, though, which always was a bit strange to me as most people I fish with prefer the crank on the right. Rod action type? Med/Heavy or Heavy? reefrunner

Hello all, I've been using spinning combos for everything and anything under the surface since I can remember. I am considering getting a baitcasting combo to play around with this year, but don't want to spend an arm and...well, sold my leg at the sportsman show this past weekend. lol. Maybe in the area of $200 for the combo taxes in? Will have it rigged with PP 50# for catsing believers, suicks on Musky lakes and same line for sinking worms in deep cover on bass lakes. Any suggestions are much appreciated. I know people swear by the calcuttas, Abu C3's and the such but as I said I'm a newbie to the baitcast and want something inexpensive to dink around with. Reliability, castability for the application. What rod legnth would best suit these applications mentioned above in one combo? Action type? Does everyone baitcasting have the crank on the right? I think I would be more comfortable with the crank on the left since my spinning crank is on the left? Stuff to look for in part# for a lefty? Had my eye on the BPS Pete Maina combo? Any users here?
