  1. Wow ...nice work Jay..you're way out of my league. I have a Dagr from Devilbiss and I use latex paints for baits Again...nice work!!
  2. Suspending glide bait... good side to side with excellent hand time
  3. I use some screen door screening. I can pull it tight around the bait and hold it in position with clothes pins...works awesome when you figure out the spray volume and pait needed with the airbrush.
  4. Just a high quality Latex...makes using the airbrush a bit tricky but once you get used to it it's not bad.
  5. Here's another color and then a different body style. I think I need a ventilator in the shop... Sure liking my airbrush!!
  6. Lew ....if I sent you one would you give it a good test??
  7. Depending on the retrieve up to 10', they are however best used allowing the bouyancy of the balsa and the weights to give a wounded, rising diving effect. They work well as a twitch bait but can also be used with a steady retrieve, the jointed one has some wicked wobble. Used slow or fast they have great action.
  8. Thanks guys...I'll be doing a different paint pattern for the second batch and have another model in the planning..can't wait to give them a toss.
  9. No but good suggestion...I'll have to give it a try!
  10. We'll taking pictures is not my best skill The baits look awesome and while you can make out the gold scale they def. look better close up. Here's some pictures....let me know what you think!!
  11. Here's another one ...a little less weight added and a bigger bill will give it a different action. Almost time to clean the shop and get the airbrush out...
  12. average 6"-6.5" and a bit. should have a finished product by Mon-Tues..
  13. Not too bad actually, I figure from start until ready for paint is about 25 min per bait not including glue drying time which is about 2 hrs. I make them in batches of 6 and can have 6 ready for glueing in about 1.5 hrs. Glueing and shaping takes a while but not bad. Painting can take up to 25 min per bait and then coating with nuluster will take 20 min each time, 3 times over 3 days.
  14. I've been making baits for a few years now and have through trail and error improved on some techniques and feel I have it pretty good now. Here is a step by step on how I get to the finished product, only thing lacking is the painted picture which I will have within the next couple days. I also paint all my own baits and have gotten pretty decent with my air brush. It's amazing how quickly baits can go together...and lots of fun too. Let me know what you think.. The materials Tracing the template ready to cut out Ready to install the thru wire Thru wire cut and hole drilled for lead Wire bent and ready to glue Clamp Glued Cut out lexan bills and sand to perfection ready to install The lead pot, pour into holes Ready to paint Stay tuned for some pretty sweet paint pics after I give them 3 coats of primer....
  15. Nice fish...
  16. Right....now I don't know hockey?? Need I say more??? My point proven once again. I'd have better luck conversing with a fence post. The end Go Habs Go!!
  17. I say I would like to see the habs win and you tell me to kiss your ass??????.....spoken like a leaf fan!! Just goes to show some habs fans are as dumb as a pot of poutine....
  18. Nope not at all....I'm a Sens fan through and through. Just stating the obvious.....actually I would like to see the habs win as Canadas team but I just don't see the talent on the team supporting the hot goaltending for much longer. JMO
  19. Whats real is they get out played, out shot, and dive. Being that they had a come from behind victory on the back of a hot goalie they won't sign in the off season I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  20. Looks like the audience doesn"t know if they should clap or go to church...
  21. Anything that keeps the leaf fans crying like little babies is good with me........devoted sens fan.......habs supporter... Matt... out!!!! go habs go
  22. They put up a great fight and almost went to game seven...a couple bad reffing calls and bad bounces and it got away from them......not bad for being against the stanley cup defending champs. Can't say that for the leafs though.....5 years out of the playoffs going to suck again next year!!! Now to cheer for the habs!!
  23. Exactly Roy...he obviously saw what was something he noticed as a handeling practice he would not do so he immediately commented on it....opportunity presented itself to educate on this so as I know many here on OFC would I hope he did a little educating. The eye grip comment speaks for itself IMO!!
  24. Nice eye grip....I hear that works great to decrease post release mortality.... Hopefully you took that opportunity to educate your friend on proper fish(any fish) handeling techniques,. M.
  25. I read the whole post and basically what you are saying is that as long as they are doing what you think they should be doing and not annoying you, then they are ok.....if not then they are stupid. I repeat what I said in my first post!!
