7 days and counting till departure for 8 days of LOTW's muskie fishing at Red Wing Lodge.....can't wait. Not looking forward to 22 hrs of dragging the boat around to get there but hey....gotta do it! Has anyone fished the South East part of the lake or have any suggestions for baits? I'll be bringing the usual muskie arsenal of Bulldogs, cowgirls, jakes, bucktails, suicks and topwaters but if anyone can throw in some success stories that would help make my "trip of a lifetime" that much better I would appreciate it. Oh ....and I will have a smokin report when I get back....hopefully...lol

Anything bigger than a 10" girth..... That ought to get a few riled!! Just kidding...what would I know ,the only Kawartha lake I have fished is Stoney and came away with nothing...

OK... Nice 40ish Ottawa river fish, fought good...I have actually seen this once before but can't recall where at this time. It had no scar tissue so I think it is a birth defect. I would think an injury would have signs of rips and tears but this one didn't. Pretty cool that despite this ailment it was so healthy.

Healthy fish....didn't seem to be bothered much by having no or very little upper jaw. M.

Took this creature off a 44" Muskie...I have removed many over the years but they are still just as ugly as the first time.

Do you have another date in Sept that would be better? The second weekend (11th-12th Sept) is also good as is (28th-29th Aug) and meeting on the Fri night for pops and discussion followed by 2 days fishin and head home Monday seems like the best bet. If those who said yes could contact me by pm we could start a email exchange to hammer out the details. Sould be fun

Try giving Brian a call, he listed off about a half dozen or so so fast I couldn't keep track of where they were but he did mention more had been opened due to MG being added to Merc(or something like that).

Pretty much but I'm open to any and all date suggestions....nothing is firm yet so whatever works best for the majority is probably the best way to go. I'm able to switch up dates if necessary.

I just had to post this as I just got the best service I could have hoped for. I bought a Wireless55 in May last year and MG has a 3 year warranty, but I never registered the motor for warranty. Sure enough the tranny went on it and I feared the worst. Living in Ottawa I took it to a local MG service depot and was promptly told it wasn"t in the system and was going to hit me for $285.00 + tax When I explained the purchase date I was told to go register it online, so mess occurs and I can't register online due to "ERROR" please call Motorguide. So I call Brian at Backwater tackle and start to explain my issues, he takes all my info, offers to call the factory registration personally and will call me back. Less that 5 min later I get a call from Brian and he says the error was that the motor was listed as returned and reshipped(not exactly what that meant) but he then asks the purchase date and again informs me he will call back. 3 min later he returns the call to inform me the registration is good and my MG is under warranty until may20,2012. My next call is to the service station , they were able to confirm the paperwork and I can pick up my MG tomorrow afternoon....cost....$0 Thanks Brian...you rock Man if only everthing was that easy

I have located a hotel with pool, bar, fine dining for $125 (double occupancy) a night with 2 queen beds not far from several access points. There is also a store nearby that has Quebec licences available. I was thinking Labor Day weekend for those interested as after that it may be tough for parent's with kids in school to attend such as myself. But dates are open to discussion. It looks like we might have approx 18 folks confirmed already so when we get an idea I may go back to the hotel for a further group discount.

You know how I foound out about it???? I watched Marc Thorpe, Pete Mania, Jim Saric and several others all doing shows promoting the area on TV.....If going on National tv while fishing the area isn't getting the word out what is? I watched the shows liked what I saw and want to try fishing it....what's wrong with that? I also read in OOD mag the 10 best muskie waters in which some favorite colors were even given by some of the guys. They are all part of the St.Lawrence and is globally known for muskie..... Heck you can even go to thier website and see exactly where they are fishing. It is no secret

Cool...we have had a wicked week for storms here in Ottawa....some of the most amazing lightning I have ever seen.

Ok ....maybe my choice of words was less than ideal, maybe I should have used trophy or big fish. That said it is a nice area and a weekend with some like minded folks out having fun sounds like a good idea to me and this area is definitly big enough to accomodate a large number of boats.
