  1. If someone goes and buys brains from the supermarket will that be good too? There is a rumor of a crazy northern trapper that uses human brains because they work best for the hides. Is there a best type of brain? forrest
  2. He has good colors on them. The cool thing about those lures is that no one else can replicate them because of what makes them magic. They have the good luck special magic Mercer spit locked inside each one of them. forrest
  3. alright...I was a bit naughty...I have many days to be nice. Contact Humminbird, their website has a GPS adapter cable Contact Lowrance, they should have the same or you can make your own. NMEA is a standard communication protocol. My Garmin unit has 4 connectors on the back NMEA IN +, NMEA -, NMEA out+ and NMEA out-. The unit is running NMEA 0183 Humminbird can tell you what the other wires you have are for. the unit Humminbird sells for hooking up to the unit is the GR4 GPS Receiver, its about $100. forrest
  4. What happened when you tried to use the pocket knife? Palomar is what I use. The braided lines manufacturer website will have knots to use. Mono is a lot different from braid a lot of knots will slip with braid. forrest
  5. One of the google searches done turned up this (time 2 min) http://www.braintan.com/articles/furs/miller1.html It says to use the brain
  6. Perch... What size(s) are you getting?
  7. What does that mean MTBF? I was only noticing that I can't recall Kemper ever posting a pic of a fish he caught on a boat.....I guess one could use a fishfinder in a running river Why wouldn't someone equip their owned boat with a FF or GPS ? When they -fish from shore most of time -can't justify the cost of one -know the lake well -fish small areas only -fish rivers -fish infrequently -oh yeah...fly fishing guys Who is fishing a large body of water without either a GPS or fishfinder to make it more sporting? forrest
  8. I am trying to recall the number of of boat caught fish pics vs shore fish caught by Kemper.
  9. Oh yeah....Grandpa kicks butt more than any electronics....
  10. Fiishfinders make the fishing experience a lot better in situations. When the skunk is on and I see all those fish down below I feel better knowing that it was skill and not chance that was keeping me from catching. I feel more motivated to go out the next time. GPS: allows more fishing to take place during the day and increases the learning curve. Nothing worse is the blind leading the blind around a lake. That being said fishing is lazily pleasant and a fun puzzle to figure out. forrest
  11. You can still use it. Take out the Bass Tender and modify it with a new top.
  12. Do they charge rent at halfway houses? If so I think this might be some kind of project or survey.
  13. That is something to watch out for. Blatantly illegal too. Did you call them on it? forrest
  14. From the back of the card: "Club discounts are not applicable during promotional events or on items already on sale" but The linked sales brochure is making an exception. forrest
  15. Too much nog Victor. As original poster and link show the 10% and no tax can be combined. December 26th only. I wonder what they have for stock? forrest
  16. If it aint broke don't fix it and when it gets low or nicked far down: 1) add another backer 2) use it as a backer (its original purpose) 3) move it to a different reel 4) put it on the reel with the ceter stuff now on the outside. forrest
  17. Like I have not heard that lame one a few hundred times If I wanted to I could say that sentence, but, there is no way I could make my face that ugly. You can have the phrase and keep the face. forrest
  18. Contact support in the states and tell them what happened when you called Canadian support and ask for their help. Dunno what to say about the Canadian support. It appears it does not exist. forrest
  19. Did you find that shelter blowing across the lake?
  20. hahahahaha I bet there will be 100 posts and 25 different answers!
  21. A lot depends on what/where you fish...but as far as Rapala goes I noticed a lack of silver minnow colors. The Rapala original floaters and jointed are good all around lures, along with Xraps they are probably a staple of most tackle kits. about $7.50-$8.50 each: http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail...eshorsalt=Fresh http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail...Both&live=1 forrest PS: is that a blue/black original floater in there?
  22. There is an exception for rentals.
  23. I like the solstice more than xmas and new years......the latter 2 are copycats of the original.
  24. The manufacturers got hit hard when the price went up, not when it went down. The dealers will have to discount older product to clear it, no big deal...their supposed to do that anyway. I do not understand those dealers that have boats on the showroom floor for years. forrest
  25. This is a bit off topic, but Not that it has not been said before. That boaters card is scam perpetrated by our own government so that some people could make a lot of free money in the private sector. 1) It is VERY easy to cheat and get the card. Just have your buddy do it for you online. 2) The websites practically give you the answers to the questions 3) its online 4) The companies certify you with their own card.....it is not like a drivers license. 5) There is not a central database saying who has cards.....that info is with the company that gave you the card. Feel free to correct me on any of those points if I am wrong or ad your own..... Why not just follow the drivers license systems that are established and proven? back on topic. http://www.boaterexam.com/canada/ has a banner had here. don't pay if you don.t pass.
