That is true, however, 120 lbs of tongue weight seems high for a 17 ft boat. My 1750 crestliner only has an 85-90lbs tongue weight. There is a formula that one can use to figure out tongue weight. My buddy did the same thing to his ranger, moved boat up to give more space and now his boat pounces around like crazy. Can't go over 115-120 km on highway.

My fish hawk 1750 with 115 opti fits in mine with tongue folded away. I have a 22ft deep garage and there is room to spare. The problem is the width. At 96" beam plus trailer there is literally less then one inch on either side. Takes me 15 min to back my boat in.

It's a tough topic, on one hand they are plentiful, but is that because of our strict regs??? On the other hand having a wider season with bass fishing options will defiantly bring in revenue. I would love to have a catch no keep season from March till June, then closed for the month. However, we will need more enforcement which means more government spending. I would play $25-30 for a pre bass opener option with the money going toward enforcement. But that's just me thinking.

Was out there for the first time few weeks ago. My buddy has family in lasallle so we left the boat on the driveway and stayed at a hotel. The fishing was ok, I expected a little more action but we managed about 45-50 fish over 3 days. I think next year I will go a little earlier and fish for the hens.

Sorry guys I didn't realize how old this post was don't mean to bring back old stuff lol. Just was on a few other sites and of course this is the hot topic right now.

I remember last years May 1st walleye opener on the moon. It was a Thursday and the ice just cleared out on the Tuesday. We had a great opener with 40-50 walleye... By the Friday mid morning the smallmouth showed up, for every 1 walleye we would hook up with 3 smallies. We were all using a jig/ minnow combo, no matter what depth we drifted they would hit 10-40 fow. The only way to stop catching them was to stop fishing period. Now as an angler who is honest, when these walleyes slowed down late sat because they started to move into the sanctuary to spawn I could have stayed and kept catching smallies double headers per drift, but we didn't. We left the bay and looked for pike water. So what was my option, I was clearly targeting walleye and yes we caught the more aggressive smallmouth but we where still catching eyes. I don't think I should have to stop fishing or move.

That's what I hear as well. Heading to Florida to fish post spawn largies for a week so I won't be able to get out till I get back. I'm hoping end of April will be that mid point still a few monsters but some good number of smaller ones. Looking forward to it can't wait to get the boat out.

Thanks for the info. We not heading down till end of april. Not worried about getting the hang of it or boat control been fishing for a yr or two. Just wanna make sure I'm not wasting time in unproductive water. Thx agian
