  1. How about we play a little game called, just the tip. Pics of the custom rod to come in part two of the article. Dominic did a great job.
  2. I like to constantly change and try different lines. Mainly I use raven 10lb in high vis green and spider line 8-12lb. A very good friend uses Suffix 8-10lb and doesnt have any complaints. As far as spooling, Solo said it best. Best of luck!
  3. Aaron, awesome pictures pal!!! Looks like you and Tony had a great time. Im kicking myself for not coming along.
  4. Im doing a review for the Sagebrush Mesh Vest for Fishpond this spring. They look great, lots of storage and well built pockets. Reasonably priced. Orvis, Simms, and William Joseph (As CC mentioned), are all good brands to look at as well.
  5. For everyone with a boat, I've found this website useful for the few issues I've run into with my boat. Great to read problems/issues that others are having as well so you're well prepared. www.marineengine.com
  6. Beautiful pics Selfmade05. Those brookies are spectacular!
  7. Bill, you just trumped all of my fish with that brookie. Amazing fish!
  8. My largest Pike is only 12lbs so I think I'll beat that on the first few casts! 4 more months!
  9. I had the opportunity to fish some different bodies of water over the past year and have put a few PB in the boat and on the bank including a 29lb Muskie and an 11lb Atlantic. Lets see some of your big fish pics from the last year!
  10. Panther Martin: silver blade, yellow body, red spots. Killer!
  11. The Shimano Compre is a great series to go with. Been fishing a one piece 6'6" light and a one piece 7' medium action for about 8 years. I prefer the shimano rods over fenwick rods. Much more durable in my opinion. Good luck.
  12. approx. $20 per month left on the contract. I recently looked into this.
  13. As long as the van is rated to tow the total weight of the van and boat combined, you're good to go. I wouldn't risk voiding an insurance claim if an accident happens. Insurance companies love to find ways out of claims, and MTO has become much more strict on the roads. Safety first. I would have suggested an F150; as long as you take your time driving and not hammer it, its pretty fuel efficient for its size. Best of luck with the new vehicle!
  14. Just got this quote from State Farm, No lay up period too. "Here are the details. The boat: $30,000 Amount Liability $2 mill Ded: $2000 Total Annual cost $559.82 tax in" Your policy should only be about $150 per annum. Unless I missed something or you've had previos claims, I would cancel your existing policy and get a new one.
  15. When I purchased my boat, I made sure to get it inspected by a professional. Try Doug at Bay City Marine in Hamilton or Top Gun Marine in Bradford. Also find out where the owner got the boat serviced; if at all, they might be able to help. If the owner wants to sell it, have him tow to the shop and pay for the inspection. Best $100 you can spend. You should do all this before trying to speculate what its worth. I also agree with Bushart, make sure you take it for a spin too.
  16. Absolutely, it can be very productive. The estuary waters are much slower than higher in the system, so when the cold comes, fish will look for slower pools/parts of the river to spend time in. The main concern right now is whether or not they are frozen over.
  17. Lets see some pictures Scotty. Glad you had a good day.
  18. What difference how fast you go if you cant catch bass? BTW, my ride does 55.
  19. Im going to try and get a little garden growing off the back of my boat. The mushroom stays until it falls off on its own. Lou, you look good in my Lund, time to trade in that lame bass boat for a real one. Bill, we plan to do a little fish fry on Simcoe for perch again when the ice forms, you're more than welcome to come out.
  20. Try Chris Robinson at OFAH. I dont have his email but you could call OFAH and ask for him.
