  1. More like the US everyday... Sad really.
  2. I love catching those chinnies with giant skein chunks under a float or on hardware before they enter the river. Not much can match the power of those fish! Once they are in the river though, forget it... it's a circus!
  3. Wait till Oct/Nov when the cold weather gets here.. All the rubes stay at home.. Nothing like a 10lb bullet to get your blood going!
  4. I use Fireline Crystal, spring/fall/winter/whenever. Get's a bit stiff in the cold, but nothing crazy. The long distance hooksets are the best.
  5. Raven Micro XXXS, nothing fancy. Although with the braid I run, I don't even need a swivel above the float to be honest. You could always run a slip float and never worry about twist again
  6. I know dude, I live on the wild side once in a while, lol!!!
  7. We are talking about a XXXS micro swivel They are tiny. Doesn't affect the float at all, regardless of where it is in the setup.
  8. Anyone fishing for those black boots way up river regardless of what they are using aren't fishing ethically. This is why I'm still targeting residents until the end of Sept when the craziness is close to being over. I've called the MNR on more then one occasion when I see some city rube with a big 5 of Diamonds tied to the end of his line fishing in 3ft of water way up a local trib. I'll target them off the piers and such when they are staging, etc... But I won't be hiking for those fish ever.
  9. I've never had a break off below my top swivel (ie losing my entire rig).. I also spend a fair amount of time on the water, lol!! I run 14lb Fireline Crystal, to 8lb Drennan Super Specialist shot line, to whatever leader I am running for the day. I've even landed some nasty Port Hope chinnies on this setup.
  10. Tie up some big stinky bombs if the water clarity is like it was today. Dew worms would also be a good idea.
  11. Sweet! Glad you got it fixed man. I'll be throwing hardware for steelies until the end of Sept That's a great river to do it on. After the next rain we'll go down and try a couple of my go to spots.
  12. I run 14lb Fireline Crystal on my setups. I'll most likely go back to Drennan Super Specialist Mono on my lighter Frogwater rig, but I like that line for my workhorse setup. To be honest, if you are just starting out, some Trilene XT 10-12lb or even the Raven 12lb (My buddy swears by it) would be a good idea. I haven't noticed any breakage due to having an extra swivel in my setup either. You might even wanna check out some Siglon FF. A bit wirey, but it stays on top and is easy to see. Really helps with mending and keeping things in line. You'll eventually realize it's all personal preference Just don't get caught up in the hype!
  13. ....and there I was cleaning the damn garage when you drove by Good job Chris! Nothing like getting someone hooked on fishing!
  14. See Chris, I'm lazy This is why I need the swivel! Although lately both my rigs have been filled with braid.. No line twist even if you are side casting. Plus the long distance hooksets are a riot!
  15. Canon 60D with a Canon EF-S 10-22mm USM lens.
  16. That sucks Ron.. I also found that smallie lake Nothing but cows out of it, lol!!!
  17. Swivels above the float help immensely with line twist. I take it you've never used one.
  18. Hopefully the second setup is for a woman.
  19. Please tell me it's not beginning... NOT YET FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (btw, I've got bulk marshmellows and earplugs for sale if anyone is interested)
  20. That thing looks like a triploid!!!!! What an absolute beast!
  21. You could have grabbed him behind the gill plates being that size. I'm not a fan of the boca grip to be honest (for any species).
