I will be travelling for a week and plan to do a lot of fishing. I will only have a cooler or 2 with me to keep my catch cool for the whole week. How much Ice do I need to keep the fish on so that they stay fresh till I reach home say 5 days after catching them? I was thinking of just dumping 2 bags a day. And is it ice on the fish or fish on the ice? Second question is what is the best and quickest way to kill a fish? hit over the head or cut behind the gills? Thanks

lol i feel stupid now for not having read that clearly. So I called her and she said she would only issue a temp boat license if I had some experience with a boat which I dont. However I am sure its not rocket science . Do I start watching youtube videos of how to drive a boat? Lol. other option is to go on a fishing charter . Found a guy for a decent price Luke Wassegijig. I might give that a try since he said its been a good year and the salmon fishing is starting to heat up! -

got this post from another forum, Can someone confirm this since there is a chance I may try shore fishing instead of renting a boat. I would also appreciate shore fishing advice for nearby lakes like Sucker Lake and Lake Mindemoya or other lakes that are easy to fish. Thanks -
+1

Hey can I get a coke? No its for the fish! What?!? Good to know. Now I will have to keep a bottle with me when going fishing. Does it have to be fizzy or will flat work? cause Id hate to take a new bottle each time I go fishing lol

Thanks for the very helpful tips! I am so pumped and can't wait to get there. just 2 more weeks. Good to know there are both lakers and rainbows in there. Bass is good too.So basically the trout will be hanging out at the 60-80 foot depth? that was what I was thinking. I think i will try my luck with my 6lb leader. I fish mainly from shore so I don't have a sonar or a fish-finder but definitely will look into downloading the app that tonyb mentioned. irishfiled, I will definitely tell her you sent us! Mrblizzard, I will keep that in mind! -
So on our way to Sault ste Marie at the end of this month, we will we stopping at Manitoulin resort on Lake Manitou. Looking to get into some Walleye or lake trout. I will rent a boat for a few hours while there. Looking for suggestions on how deep to fish and what type of bait to use. Suggestions on other types fish would also be appreciated. Looking to make some fish fry while there! I have a 6.6 foot medium action rod with 15 lb braded line with 6 lb leader on it. Thanks

Man you live far. It must help to have a big family to keep busy, and by the looks of it, they must love it. I am sure its a lot of fun. I have always wanted to drive cross country and it seems like you live close to Hwy 11. How would you compare it to hwy 17? definitely would require travel through the US to get into Manitoba from there.
-
you must be rich lol!

I'm sure she will! this is the first time I am going there but my friend went there a few years ago and stayed a week and loved it. Im pretty sure we will too!

Do you by any chance live on manitoulin island? Curious because of your username. I will be camping out at Manitoulin resort on lake Manitoo at the end of this month.

I wish I was already building something somewhere at the edge of the water. One day perhaps!

Just looked into Koodos plans and I see the $53+ tax plan with unlimited talk and text and unlimited minutes within canada. Is that the total including the monthly tab? I like $45 plan that you mentioned but it looks like you got a special deal at the store or something like that?

Looks like my options are as follows: 1) Get a good deal through bell's loyalty department 2) Look into plans offered by Virgin Mobile, Telus or Koodo.

Thank you everyone for taking the time out and replying. And thank you Old Ironmaker for your PM. I am not one that likes to start a thread and leave it hanging but my laptop power cord decided to stop working leaving everyone at home to fight over one computer lol. There is so much valuable information in this thread. Basically after reading as much as I could, I feel the best route to consider is to buy something that will appreciate in value ie waterfront or riverfront property with a house on it already. Use it during vacation times and rent it out to non party crowd when I am not using it. Moving for long term would be tough for the time being due to schools and other medical amenities required by a family member. I and the wife am pretty handy around the house so small repairs don't intimidate us once we get a place. I guess the last remaining concern would be the taxes vs appreciation vs usage or revenue. In the end, like a lot of you mentioned, is to do my homework. I will have some time this summer so I will go look at some places and definitely do some research on my options. I definitely will be returning to this thread to look over the loads of advice as I go along. Thanks!

So after being with Bell for over 7 years, its time for a change. I have given away too much money to them over the years and that was mainly due to the need for good coverage. I mainly stay within the city limits now and looking for something that is cheap and works! I like the plans that Wind Mobile has so please advise. I am interested in hearing the goods and bads of your cell phone providers to help me make a choice. I think this will help out others shopping for cell phone plans. I am looking for something in the range of $40-$50 + tax with talk text and data. Data is rarely used but is good for times when there is no wifi. Thanks

Lol I think this pretty much sums it up!
